Princess Michael Named Her Two Black Sheep "Venus" and "Serena"

Remember Princess Michael of Kent, who's married to Queen Elizabeth II's cousin? She's the delightful royal who drew criticism for wearing a "blackamoor" brooch to her first meeting with Prince Harry's fiancee Meghan Markle:


A new article in Vanity Fair is written by Aatish Taseer, who dated the Princess' daughter Lady Gabriella for three years in the early 2000s, and explores the royal family's race relations on the eve of the first person of known African descent to marry into their family.

Taseer, who is of Indian and Pakistani descent, claims that Princess Michael kept two black sheep at her country house and named them "Venus" and "Serena". He also says that after she was heavily criticized for allegedly telling a group of noisy African-American diners in New York to "go back to the colonies", she told him in indignation “I daren’t even say I want my coffee black anymore. I say, ‘Without milk.’”

(In response to all the criticism back then, the Princess publicly explained that she couldn't possibly be a racist, since "I even pretended years ago to be an African, a half-caste African, but because of my light eyes I did not get away with it, but I dyed my hair black." Plus, she took a trip to Africa once where "I had this adventure with these absolutely adorable, special people and to call me racist: it's a knife through the heart because I really love these people.")

Taseer also says in the article that he and Gabriella swam naked in the pool at Buckingham Palace and did MDMA (ecstasy) together in Windsor Castle.

• For BFlow: It's quiet. Halsey (real name Ashley Nicolette Frangipane) was serving “oh god do I have to take a picture with my tio rn” realness along with awkward but cute lewks.

• This isn't the first time these two have crossed paths, Halsey and BFlow both appeared in a Jimmy Kimmel performance to raise money for charity for (RED).

Derick Dillard (who? married to one of the Duggar daughters) went on a homophobic rant against Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent, stars of Nate and Jeremiah by Design on TLC. Dillard responded to a promo of the show, saying, "What a travesty of a family. It's sad how blatent the liberal agenda is, such that it both highlights and celebrates a lifestyle so degrading to children on public television as if it should be normal."

Destination Star Trek, Europe's biggest Star Trek convention, took place this weekend. They celebrated Deep Space Nine's 25th anniversary with a huge guest list from the show's cast, and several of the up-and-coming Discovery crew were also there in style. TEAM NINERS


Celebrating 25 years of DS9 and screening footage from the new DS9 doc (including HQ footage!!!), several DS9 cast members were in attendance. This included Nana Visitor, Terry Farrell, Alexander Siddig, Nicole deBoer, Rene Auberjonois, Chase Masterson and many more, as well as producer Ira Steven Behr.

Matt McGorry reveals he was arrested at a non-violent Black Lives Matter protest in New York

He was arrested and later released on the charge of disorderly conduct by the NYPD during a non-violent protest on April 16.
The Monday night marches are meant to 'uplift the stories of Black and Brown people killed by the police.
This particular Monday was to honor and highlight the story of Eleanor Bumpurs, "a Black woman in the middle of a mental health crisis who was killed with a shotgun by the NYPD while they were trying to evict her from her apartment."




He wrote a lengthy blog post he penned on Medium about the incident.

Almost Every Woman in Pop Recorded Zedd's 'The Middle'

- Two songwriters came up with the demo after meeting at a songwriter's camp.

- Demi Lovato considered the song as her lead single but ultimately ditched it in favor of 'Sorry, Not Sorry.' After that, Zedd came onto the song and decided he wanted to remix it and take it to one of the big pop girls.

- Camilla Cabello recorded the next demo with Zedd and it came out really well. But then Camilla ghosted the producers when Havana became a hit. She ultimately decided that she didn't want anything to overshadow Havana and she removed herself from the project.

-Anne-Marie did a version that everyone liked. But when the producers found out she was collaborating with Marshmello her version was nixed.

-By the time the song was premiered at the Grammys, Carly Rae Jepsen, Charli XCX, Tove Lo, Bebe Rexha and more had cut demos of the song. The version with country singer Maren Morris was eventually chosen and peaked at #5 on the Hot 100.

- Talks about live shows, is inspired by Beyonce and has all of her tour dvds: “I have them all. She hasn’t released one in ages but there’s this person on YouTube that stitched together all the visual and audio clips from the Düsseldorf show of her Formation Tour to create a full two-hour concert. Super dedication.”

- Talks about problematic faves in 2018: “I feel like brands are being held more accountable too, with Diet Prada, More Models of Color and Shit Model Management, who just put up a list of people accused of abuse. Stuff like that is great, but things on the internet can often get taken so far and become so hateful that it stops being productive.”

Paris Hilton documentary The American Meme premiered at Tribeca Film Festival late Friday night.

The documentary tracks her rise starting before her reality show The Simple Life with Nicole Richie

About her 2004 leaked sex tape she says:

"It was like being raped. It felt like I'd lost part of my soul and been talked about in such cruel and mean ways. I literally wanted to die at some points. I was like, 'I just don't want to live,' because I thought everything was taken away from me. I didn't want to be known as that."

In the documentary Hilton reveals sides of herself that may not be familiar:

"I felt like the world was introduced to me through The Simple Life. There was no reality television back then, so it was very new. There was no social media, so I basically created this character that was basically what I thought the audience wanted, like, 'Oh, she's rich, so she needs to be a spoiled airhead'— basically what the producers told me to do. "

  • Tobias Menzies is Captain James Fitzjames on AMC's The Terror, and he recently gave an interview about the show and how it's effective horror.

  • Tobias says Fitzjames is one of the more "agreeable" characters he's played.

  • Tobias says the show is about a group of Victorian men with a sense of superiority who encounter culture and a creature who they can't understand.

  • The creature (known as the Tuunbaq on the show) represents the other.

  • His character "arrive[s] with certain assumptions about how it’s going to be and believing themselves to be in control." He discusses broadly how his arrogant character and others respond to the situation when they find themselves stranded .

  • On the show's relevance to today: "We certainly seem to be going through a period where tolerance and understanding is in short supply."

Claire Foy is set to receive £200,000 in back pay after it was recently revealed that the actress was paid less than co-star.
Producers reportedly paid Smith £10,000 more than Foy per one-hour episode.

At a recent CinemaCon event, Foy spoke out about the "embarrassing" ordeal.
"I certainly won’t be naïve about those things. It’s really opened my eyes about what I am allowed to have an opinion about, and what I’m allowed to stand up for myself about. And I think that’s really changed my approach to myself and other women in this industry. It’s been only a positive thing - even though, embarrassing."
