Keeps Gettin Closer: A Decade of Patience could finally be coming to an end with these new social media posts from Legend X. She posted this video clip which appears to be behind the scenes footage of her Paper Magazine shoot and new visuals of some sort.

A fan pointed out "May 3rd" as a possible date, which goes along with rumors of new material this week:

There's a Snapchat video of random Love & Glamour (intro)-esque vocal whispers of her saying "hey, it's Christina" which could either be her announcement of an announcement OR she's going to debut an ASMR channel for a reverse-Screamtina Aguilerian-expedition! Poor whisper chanteuses, get that Youtube ad-revenue coin!

ONTD Original: Eurovision BOPs lost in the semifinals

0
0

Semifinals started in Eurovision back in 2004. Some changes were made in these years, like the reintroduction of jury voting, the presence of two semifinals instead of one, jury and televoting points being awarded independently... however one thing did not change: you have to be in the first 10 positions of your semi to qualify to the finals.

I chose some entries below which failed to do so, based on my taste only. I'll show their final position and how they were ranked in the juries (if existing) and in the televote.

1. Silvia Night - Congratulations (2006)

Country: Iceland
Language: English
Placing: 13/23 (62 points)
How many points did the last qualifier have?: 76 (Macedonia)

I started the list with the satirical bop of eurovision kween Silvia Night, a satirical character portrayed by Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir to show every bad human behaviour people had. Too bad Europe didn't understand the intelligence of this beautiful angel and didn't vote for her :( tip: her backstage videos are as amazing y'all should watch it.

2. Deep Zone and Balthazar - DJ, Take Me Away (2008)

Country: Bulgaria
Language: English
Placing: 11/19 (54 points), semi 2
How many points did the last qualifier have?: 67 (Albania)
NOTE: this year was an exception, in which only the first nine countries were selected by televote while the last one was decided by the jury (in this semi it was Sweden's Charlotte Perrelli, who finished 12th).

This bop unfortunately was a victim of the dark times of Bulgaria at ESC, when, from 2005 to 2013, they had only qualified once (with a bop in 2007).

3. Kristina - Horehronie (2010)

Country: Slovakia
Language: Slovak
Placing: 16/17 (24 points - 14th televoting with 34 points, 16th jury with 25 points), semi 1
How many points did the last qualifier have?: 52 (Moldova - with epic sax guy!!!!!)

I don't have anything to say. Just that people are evil.

4. Stella Mwangi - Haba Haba (2011)

Country: Norway
Language: English (with verses in Swahili)
Placing: 17/19 (30 points - 9th televoting with 56 points, 17th jury with 29 points), semi 1
How many points did the last qualifier have?: 55 (Switzerland)

ESC 2011 is, by far, the worst eurovision of this century. There were a lot of bops but almost ALL of them stayed in the semis. Result: boring unoriginal ballad after boring unoriginal ballad (there were few bops in the finals like Sweden's and Ireland's).

5. Sofi Marinova - Love Unlimited (2012)

Country: Bulgaria
Language: Bulgarian (with verses in... a lot of languages)
Placing: 11/18 (45 points - 9th televoting with 59 points, 17th jury with 27 points), semi 2
How many points did the last qualifier have?: 45 (Norway)
NOTE: Norway received points from more countries, therefore they were the ones who advanced to the finals.

Reminder that the dark era of Bulgaria at ESC was evil, but the jury also was evil.

6. Who See - Igranka (2013)

Country: Montenegro
Language: Montenegrin
Placing: 12/16 (41 points - 4th televoting, 14th jury), semi 1
How many points did the last qualifier have?: 52 (Estonia)

Imo, this was the biggest robbery in the history of the contest, because it was one of the most original bops and it was obviously boycotted by the jury (who also tried to boycott the greatest star Florin Cezar Ouatu with his masterpiece "It's My Life", but people were stronger and he won televoting <3 such a star).

7. Tanja - Amazing (2014)

Country: Estonia
Language: English
Placing: 12/16 (36 points - 16th televoting with 13 points, 10th jury with 61 points), semi 1
How many points did the last qualifier have?: 40 (San Marino)

2014 was a great year and the one that I liked the most songs, so there are a lot of robbed icons imo. That year's "Euphoria" was one of them. And I particularly love the dance. Sad to see that this time, the jury is not to blame EUROPE WHY

8. Uzari and Maimuna - Time (2015)

Country: Belarus
Language: English
Placing: 12/16 (39 points - 13th televoting with 32 points, 8th jury with 66 points), semi 1
How many points did the last qualifier have?: 62 (Albania)

Again: EUROPE WHY. Live is amazing and some songs who qualified aren't as close as this level of quality. I was shocked, for real.

9. Agnette - Icebreaker (2016)

Country: Norway
Language: English
Placing: 13/18 (63 points - 34 from televoting, 29 from jury), semi 2
How many points did the last qualifier have?: 105 (Serbia)

I remember being shocked when it didn't qualify. Really. It was also one of my favorite years btw.

10. Jana Burčeska - Dance Alone (2017)

Country: Macedonia
Language: English
Placing: 15/18 (69 points - 40 from televoting, 29 from the jury), semi 2
How many points did the last qualifier have?: 101 (Denmark)

Until today, I haven't watched this semi and I refuse to do it. This was, by far, my favorite last year and it is in my top 10 overall, I DON'T ACCEPT IT. The staging was not good, though. I'm sorry I don't have the video of it because @ geoblocking.

Reminder that rehearsals started today! Don't forget to support your favorite bops. ;)

ear_ons_gsk

*The big news in true crime is that police have arrested a suspect thought to be the East Area Rapist/Original Night Stalker/Golden State Killer. Many true crime fans credit Michelle Mcnamara, though authorities say that her book did not contribute to the arrest. Many news outlets are using the nickname that she coined, "The Golden State Killer." Her book I'll Be Gone In The Dark is still a bestseller.
Thoughts on the case?

*What is the effect of true crime on your brain? The psychology behind true crime media.

A psychologist speculates that it can help you feel more in control in a world that is very scary and violent for women. They are classic good vs. evil stories, and the good guys win. You can also re-experience your own trauma in a safe setting.

But they can also normalize depictions of violence and rape and create unrealistic expectations about forensic science and criminal justice.

*The eccentric inventor Peter Madsen has been sentenced to life in prison for murdering the journalist Kim Wall on his submarine. She was writing a story on him and never returned; later, her body was discovered. It's a wild fucking case.

*Oxygen is debuting a whopping 10 new true crime shows. One involves Piers Morgan, ew.

*Some people feel guilty or ashamed for being interested in true crime stories.
Do you?

Are you in favor of cutting off dicks?

*Oh, yay: Khloe Kardashian is producing a true crime show about sisters.

*The best true crime docs on Netflix as of April 2018.

*Why is true crime so addictive?

*Three brand-new episodes of crime documentary The Staircase will debut on Netflix. It follows Michael Peterson, a crime novelist who definitely murdered two women on staircases. He was convicted, but is now out of jail on an Alford plea.
Is he guilty?

Kim Petras did an interview with NME. In it, she discusses her formerly blossoming career as a pop star, and discusses her relationship with r*pist Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald.

What did she say?

When asked about working with him after his past assault allegations, Kim remains diplomatic: “I’m a big fan of his, and we write music very well together. So, yeah, it was a really good experience.“ Would she work with him again? “Yeah, totally.” Before I can ask the next question, Kim cuts in: “I would like my fans to know that I wouldn’t work with somebody I believe to be an abuser of women, definitely not.”

FILM

  • Keckbusrg is a film currently in production about the controversial UFO incident that took place in Kecksburg, Pennsylania, in 1965.

  • During the incident, people in six different states reported seeing an object in the sky; some say it was meteor.

  • Filmmaker Cody Knotts (Pro Wrestlers vs Zombies) is making the film and says filming will resume in September. He plans to attend the Kecksburg UFO Festival, "where there will be UFO, Bigfoot and paranormal presentations and displays."

  • A first look at Kecksburg is now available on YouTube.

  • #SCREAMERS is a new found footage horror film. Cast incudes Tom Malloy, Chris Bannow, Griffin Matthews, Emanuela Galliussi, and Abbi Snee.

  • Tom Malloy also wrote the script, and Dean Matthew Ronalds directs.

  • In the film, a startup video sharing company called Gigaler receives a spooky, anonymous video. The staff works to track down who sent it and why, and "journeys down a dangerous, possibly paranormal path."

  • Reviewer describes it as "a sort of Catfish meets the Office meets Ghost Adventurers."

  • It's current out on limited release in US theaters.

  • ICYMI, and I'm sure you have, here's the trailer.

BOOKS
For the ONTD paranormal investigators, here are 4 recommended books from a science and society specialist:
288154919840566
Ghostland: An American History in Haunted Places - With boundless curiosity, [Colin] Dickey conjures the dead by focusing on questions of the living--how do we, the living, deal with stories about ghosts, and how do we inhabit and move through spaces that have been deemed, for whatever reason, haunted?
Paranormal Media: Audiences, Spirits and Magic in Popular Culture - Through a popular cultural ethnography, and critical analysis in social and cultural theory, this ground-breaking book by Annette Hill presents an original and rigorous examination of people's experiences of spirits and magic.
1053492377941
Ghosts: Appearance of the Dead & Cultural Transformation -[Ronald C. Finucane] asks such questions as: How have the physical aspects claimed for ghosts varied from age to age? What differences are there in the functions and intentions ascribed to ghosts? How have the changes in more general beliefs in religion and science, in particularinfluenced the perception of ghosts?
The Haunted: A Social History of Ghosts - This book examines the social history of ghosts from the medieval period to the present. [...] [F]or all the intellectual and scientific advances of the last five centuries the belief in ghosts continues to be vibrant and socially relevant. Understanding the history of ghosts helps explain why we continue to feel haunted by the people of the past.
TELEVISION

In the latest episode of True Horror, a woman's own grandfather returns as a "devilish spectre" that she has to protect her children from.
The episode is sure to scare viewers as it depicts "the death collector" coming from the walls.

BUT there's been a slight controversy:

The episode is leaving out the small detail that the mom, Sam, works as a professional “clairvoyant medium”. She performs medium shows, has written books, and conducts paranormal investigations at home with her children.
Would knowing how involved Sam is in paranormal investigation have caused some viewers to doubt the authenticity of her claims?

IF YOU WATCH THE DEAD FILES...

Finally...
For fans of AMC's The Terror, the website Signal Horizon explains what a Tuunbaq is, starting with the fact that author Dan Simmons created the creature for his novel, The Terror. The Tuunbaq is similar to the Tuurngait, which is the "killing spirit." More at the source!

Jinger is almost due, but is taking time to share with her single lady friends on how to avoid the "bad boys", which are ten types so you can go into the eternal life of heaven with a beau, along with Ted Cruz, Kirk Cameron, and Billy Graham!

The book is called, "She’s Got the Wrong Guy: Why Smart Women Settle”, by Pastor Deepak Reju. “I wrote a book about who not to marry. Ready? Here’s my list of ten men that single women should avoid. There is the control-freak, the promiscuous guy, the unchurched guy, the new convert, the unbeliever, the angry man, the loner, the commitment-phobic man, the passive man, and the unteachable guy,” Reju wrote.

The author warns that even if they sell themselves as "a bill of goods", be very careful as they are not worth your time! She adds that your life is only to serve the Lord.

The Duggars are known for side hugs and chaperones on dating. No word or comment by Josh Duggar.
