This weekend, MTV is hosting a marathon of three vintage Real World seasons ahead of the premiere of The Real World: Portland. The weekend will kick off with season 1 (New York), which was partly famous for the racial tension between Kevin Powell and Julie Gentry. On Saturday, younger viewers can re-visit Las Vegas, which was home to season 12′s trashiest of casts.
Finally, on Sunday, The Real: San Francisco will re-air. Season three was famous for introducing audiences to gay cast member, Pedro Zamora, and his struggle with AIDS. That season aired in the early days of the epidemic and was helpful in putting a human face on the issue.
The show begins Sunday, March 24, at 8 a.m while the full marathon starts on Friday, March 22, at 8 p.m.
