Jennifer Lawrence is just like you: She’s open about a crush on John Stamos from his Full House days, and thinks the Puppy Bowl is “genius.”
Lawrence continued her quest for total talk show domination last night on Conan, with an appearance that started off on a gushing note. “I’ve been watching the show for 15 years and I’m 22 years old,” she said. “The producer said to me, ‘Andy Richter’s going to hug you,’ and I started tearing up.” She explained that prior to this interview, O’Brien had swung by her dressing room and she had forced him to do many of his signature bits for her, including the String Dance.
The love was clearly mutual. While O’Brien praised her performance in Silver Linings Playbook, he also had fun teasing the star, who could more than keep up with him. While talking about a Super Bowl party she threw for her friends at her house, she explained that her plans were more about a little event that happened prior to the big game. “It was just a lot of drinking, I guess,” Lawrence said of the party. “We watched the Puppy Bowl….It’s just puppies! And then they have a little camera in the water bowl — it’s genius!”
After telling O’Brien she was “five beers in” during the actual football game, she explained why parties have to be at her house. “I kind of have to throw parties at my house because I never leave my house…I sound crazy,” she said laughing. She explained the appeal: “I don’t have to put a bra on and I don’t have to change my pants!”
Lawrence was fun and goofy the entire appearance, but she was at her most likable when she dramatically shared that the coolest celebrity she had met thus far was… John Stamos. “He was at a party, and I turned into a perverted guy,” she said. “I was like following him into rooms and staring at his ass. I lost my mind. And I got so upset—I didn’t want to meet him because when I meet people it’s never good, and I was avoiding him, but then my friends brought him over because my friends are jerks, and I started really freaking out and he asked me if I was on mushrooms and I said, ‘No. I’m dead sober. This is just me.’”
The woman who would grow up to creep on Stamos had to get her start somewhere, and in the second segment Lawrence shared that prior to acting she was an Abercrombie & Fitch model. Her pictures were never published, however, (Note to the Internet: Find them!) because apparently she was too intense during a beach football photo shoot. After re-creating the intense faces and gestures for the audience, she explained, “I thought that overnight I had just gotten really good at football. Then I realized they were model football-ing, and I was really playing football.”
As O’Brien pointed out, modeling contract or not, Lawrence is probably going to be okay.
