'Chrisley Knows Best' Starring Allegedly Gay Todd Chrisley Renewed For Second Season!

After several attempts to launch an unscripted franchise, USA has found one in Chrisley Knows Best, moving ahead with a season-two pickup.

The NBCUniversal-owned cable network has upped the episode count for the sophomore season, ordering 12 episodes instead of eight.

The renewal comes on the heels of series high for the April 8 episode, which jumped double digits to 1.25 million viewers and 823,000 in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic.

Chrisley Knows Best centers on wealthy Todd, and follows his "colorful clan," which includes his wife, five children and two grandchildren.

“We knew from the moment we met Todd there was no other character quite like him and whether or not you agree with his parenting style, he has certainly struck a chord with our viewers as their new guilty pleasure,” said Heather Olander, senior vp alternative programming for USA Network.

“We’re excited to continue the laughs and be there for more genuine family moments with Todd and his family in season two.” USA entered the unscripted game last spring with The Moment hosted by Kurt Warner, followed by Summer Camp, but Chrisley Knows Best marks the first reality entry to get an additional pickup past the original order.

RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that just four years ago, Chrisley was sued by a male employee who claimed the star had invited him to perform a sexual act!

According to court documents, Chrisley was sued by three former employees of his company in January 2010. The group alleged that he regularly “commented on the size of his penis, invited male employees to jerk off with him in the restroom, inappropriately touched employees, and routinely made sexual gestures toward his subordinates.”

In a release, Sprint Center said Cyrus is in a Kansas City-area hospital for a severe allergic reaction to antibiotics and would not be able to perform.

Cyrus has been battling an undisclosed malady illness since last week.

The release did not say whether the concert would be made up at a later date, but it said ticket holders could get refunds at the point of purchase. People who bought tickets online or on the phone would get automatic refunds.

In a tweet, Cyrus said "Kansas, I promise I'm as (heartbroken) as you are. I wanted so badly 2 be there 2 night. Not being with y'all makes me feel (worse) than I already do."

Cyrus, a former Disney Channel star, has been a polarizing figure since the promotional push for her "Bangerz" album last year. Her twerking performance with Robin Thicke at the MTV Video Music Awards last year garnered much criticism. She later appeared nude in a music video for her song "Wrecking Ball."

Despite the controversy, ticket sales on her current tour have been strong. She also scored huge ratings when she hosted "Saturday Night Live" last fall.

Cyrus also canceled a concert earlier this month following the death of her dog.

What Lady Gaga's Versace Ads Look Like Without Photoshop

Lady Gaga's much-heralded ad campaign for Versace for Spring 2014 (and friendship with Donatella) launched several months ago. Now photos from the shoot that appear to not have been retouched have leaked online.

Via the website Gaga Fresh Online, there are four photos available. The finalized images look like they've been color corrected and that the contrast has been upped considerably to give them that glossy Versace feel. Gaga's makeup and wig have also been punched up and some bruising on her knees was removed. Her arms appear slimmer in the final product.

In this one, Gaga is wearing a top that didn't make it into the final campaign (though the bottoms did).

Chris Hemsworth carries a tray of beverages to go after dropping by Cafecito Organico on Saturday (April 12) in Malibu, Calif.

The 30-year-old actor’s massive biceps are so buff that they can barely fit in the sleeves of his shirt! He most likely is in tip top shape right now to play Thor in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Chris Hemsworth shows off his huge guns in a tight v-neck while pumping gas on Friday (April 11) in Malibu, Calif. While he was waiting for his gas to fill, the 30-year-old Aussie actor was spotted chatting with a man by the station.

Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, is hoping to play the character for a good, long period of time, including in spinoff films if that should come to pass.

“I hope people really like it, and I hope I get to play that character for a very long time,” Pratt told MTV. “I think Marvel’s been very smart about projecting into the future and what they’re putting on their slate. It’s based on what people like, so we’ll put this movie out there and see how people react to it. Who knows?”

Pratt also confirmed that shooting for Guardians of the Galaxy has officially wrapped. “They’re cutting it together and loving everything that they see,” he said. “They’re being very careful about what they release and very smart about getting people excited without giving away what the movie’s about and not giving away the best jokes or story. I think people are very fired up to see it, and don’t know what to expect.”

Entertainer and entrepreneur Sean Combs will deliver Howard University's commencement speech this year in Washington.

The school announced Tuesday that Combs will be among five people who will receive honorary degrees as trailblazers in their fields.

Combs was a Howard student in the late 1980s. He will receive an honorary doctorate in the humanities. He went on to create his Puff Daddy persona and built his own business and brand. Last year he launched an all-music TV channel, Revolt, aiming to create the ESPN of music. It airs in about 20 million U.S. homes.

University President Wayne Frederick says Combs' entrepreneurial spirit was sparked at Howard.

The university also will honor CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer, transplant surgeon Clive Callender, jazz legend Benny Golson and PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi.

Aretha Franklin Denies Fight With Patti LaBelle That Clearly Never Happened

On April 11, the Onion-ish "news site" The News Nerd published a fictional story titled "Patti Labelle Arrested After Fist Fight with Aretha Franklin."

The story claims LaBelle decked Franklin with a punch following a back-and-forth feud. This scuffle most definitely did not occur, though Franklin found it necessary to issue a formal refutation of the incident today:

"I've never heard anything crazier—regarding myself and Patti allegedly fighting on March 20, in Atlanta. On March 20, I was in New York City readying for my birthday patty (Sorry. LOL. Laughing at my typo error). I meant PARTY, which we all had one fabulous time. Patti and I are cool and we always have been. I enjoyed her at the White House. Classic Patti."

Poor Aretha -- either her team is feeding her some deeply misleading information or she doesn't quite get the (attempted) humor of the internet. To Franklin's credit, several of the article's commenters appeared to miss the joke as well. Here are a few nuggets:

"OMG…ARE YOU SERIOUS. .? Smh…"

"What a stupid way for two elderly people to react ,i am very much sorry about the situation."

"You two lady’s need to bury that nonsense and move on y’all have been friends to long"

Coachella by the Tweets: Beyonce, Justin Bieber, Lana Del Rey and More Dominate Twitter

$

For those of us that didn’t make it to Indio, California a few days back for Coachella 2014’s opening weekend, a simple check of our Twitter timeline revealed a play-by-play of who was rocking on stage, what surprise guests popped out and how awesome they were. The social network has provided Billboard with statistics of what acts dominated the weekend’s festival conversation.

There were over 1.6 million Tweets about Coachella as of Monday, April 14. Breaking down that number a bit, there were more than 1 million tweets tagged with #Coachella/#Coachella2014 (the weekend’s most-used hashtag), and more than 250,000 tweets just about Pharrell and Outkast, two of the weekend’s most popular performances.

Pharrell’s performance received so much traction simply because of how many guests he brought out. Gwen Stefani, Nelly, Busta Rhymes and Snoop Dogg each joined Skateboard P onstage during a set, which largely featured tracks from his most recent album “G I R L.” In addition to giving the audience a taste of his earlier catalog of work, these guests created special moments that got people tweeting, an element common among some of the most tweeted about moments of the weekend.

Top 5 Most-Tweeted Moments & Performances (ranked):

Solange Brings Out Beyonce
Justin Bieber Joins Chance The Rapper
Lana Del Rey debuts her new track "West Coast"
Nas Brings Out Jay Z (over 27,000 tweets about Jay Z)
Outkast's Coachella Comeback

Lana Del Rey, who used her Coachella set time to debut her new single “West Coast,” was the weekend’s most mentioned artist during Coachella’s first weekend. Drake, who made an on-stage cameo (along with Childish Gambino) during Jhene Aiko’s set, was the second-most mentioned just above Beyonce, who danced alongside her sister Solange at the close of her set. Chance the Rapper’s appearance in the No. 6 spot is likely due to the social lift provided by his on-stage guest Justin Bieber and his 50 million followers.

Outkast’s reunion performance was as newsworthy as it was a popular conversation topic on Twitter. Out of all the weekend’s performances, “Hey Ya” was the most talked about with over 13,000 mentions on Twitter. On Friday, the day they performed, they were the day’s most-mentioned act with over 90,000 mentions.

Furthermore, “Hey Ya,” #OutkastReunion, #Outkast20 and Andre 3000 each became trending topics in Los Angeles that day.

James Franco Has A Cameo In 'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes' That Even James Franco Didnt Know About

There was a time when it was hard to imagine being excited for a “Planet of the Apes” movie. When “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” came out three years ago to rave reviews and became a box office success, surely nobody could have seen it coming. Now, “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” is just a few months away, and it’s pretty safe to say that it’s the most anticipated film in the franchise. Still, while buzz surrounding the film is definitely strong, not everyone is particularly thrilled about what will appear on screen.

James Franco may be involved in a plethora of projects on a yearly basis, almost annoyingly so, but if you happen to see him appear in the upcoming 'Apes' film, you will be just as surprised as he is. Franco, of course, was the star of “Rise of the Planet of the Apes,” but he was not expected to appear in the upcoming sequel which takes place years after the events of the first movie. According to Entertainment Weekly, in their summer preview issue, while Franco’s character Will Rodman has been wiped out by a virulent plague along with most of humanity, he will still be making a posthumous cameo. Franco, believe it or not, had no knowledge of such cameo.

“Wait, I have a cameo? I didn’t know that,” said Franco to EW. “You know, I don’t even think they asked my permission to do that.”

So, how did this bit of information slip by the actor? That’s anyone’s guess. Let’s hope it’s just some weird misunderstanding. You can check out James Franco’s unauthorized cameo, along with Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman, and Jason Clarke, when “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” comes out on July 11th

Coachella Goes Pop: Why The 2014 Festival Felt More Mainstream Than Ever

$
0
0

Justin Bieber played the main stage at Coachella.

Okay, well, technically he performed for a single song, and as a surprise guest during the performance of Chance The Rapper, a buzzed-about indie MC with no proper album to his name yet. But technicalities aside, Bieber was there, white bucket hat and black tee, on the Coachella stage for the first time. And it wasn't even that surprising.

Bieber's appearance came on Sunday afternoon, hours after Beyonce made a cameo during her sister Solange's set to dance out to "Losing You." Bieber also followed Gwen Stefani, who played her solo pop smash "Hollaback Girl" during Pharrell Williams' guest star-laden hits parade. Katy Perry had been spotted taking in another Coachella weekend long before Bieber and Chance combined for "Confident." And once Bieber concluded his cameo, his buddy Drake was still on deck, getting ready to stop by Jhene Aiko's evening set to run through “From Time.’

This year was hardly the first Coachella to boast occasional cameos from mainstream stars -- Perry has been a Coachella fixture for years, Rihanna stopped by the Indio fest in 2012 to guest with Calvin Harris, and R. Kelly took the stage during Phoenix's headlining set last year. Surprise performers aside, however, pop music was engrained into the 2014 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival lineup, arguably more than ever before. Ellie Goulding, Pharrell Williams, Lorde, Foster The People, Bastille, Aloe Blacc, Lana Del Rey, Calvin Harris, Capital Cities… all of these artists can claim recent mainstream moments, and each of them contributed to the feeling that the longtime alternative mecca was slowly shifting gears. Every hour or two, it seemed like another Top 40 hit was wafting across the polo grounds -- and that's not even counting the hour in which Girl Talk mashed them all together.(Does anyone have a link to this because yes plz.)

Contributing to Coachella's subtle pop makeover was the general feeling that rock music was being shrugged off by this year's festivalgoers. The crowd for EDM upstart Martin Garrix's Friday night performance dwarfed that of post-punk legends the Replacements, who were playing their first West Coast show in 22 years and did so in front of a few hundred people. Superchunk similarly soldiered through an under-attended performance, entertaining a half-empty Gobi tent while Rudimental blasted its international hits to an overflowing crowd in the adjacent Mojave tent. Performers like Muse, Queens of the Stone Age and AFI lost huge chunks of its audiences to catchier concurrent sets from Skrillex, Empire of the Sun and Bastille, and when Arcade Fire's Win Butler took a shot against the lack of "bands still playing actual instruments at this festival" during the band's headlining set, the line felt like a territorial jab at the shifting nature of the festival, which sounded a lot different when Arcade Fire headlined three years earlier.

One month after the emerging artists that played this year's South By Southwest festival were forced to coexist with Lady Gaga and Pitbull, this year's Coachella often felt like the little guys were being edged out by the pop behemoths. At the same time, however, the 2014 festival was home to an unusually high number of alternative artists that had just happened to find a gateway to mainstream audiences over the past few months. How could festival bookers forecast the out-of-nowhere Top 10 hits by Bastille, Capital Cities or Aloe Blacc when the lineup was being cobbled together? Lorde told her sizable audience that she was booked for Coachella 2014 in May of 2013 -- months before anyone in the U.S. knew that she had never seen a diamond in the flesh. Perhaps this year's Coachella actually underlined how much pop music has bended toward alternative music over the past year, with Top 40 radio pairing party hits by Miley, Gaga and Katy with offbeat singles like "Royals" and "Pompeii."

Likewise, most of the pop-leaning artists booked at this year's festival have reached new career peaks in the months leading up to Coachella. Pharrell was always going to be one of the bigger draws at this year's festival, but his performance turned into even more of an event when "Happy" became the most inescapable song of 2014's first quarter. Ellie Goulding was similarly expanded her profile over the past year thanks to a string of recent hits like "Burn" and "I Need Your Love" to bundle with her 2012 breakout "Lights." Even Lana Del Rey, who conjured a crowd as cultish as a Beyonce audience, never had anything resembling a pop radio single before Cedric Gervais' remix of "Summertime Sadness" unexpectedly took hold last year. It's not like Coachella booked a slew of established pop performers for its 2014 bill; instead, a handful of artists have recently grown into that category, and their audiences responded in kind.

So the pop takeover of this year's Coachella was all happenstance, right? Not exactly. Let's face it: Coachella has a "cool factor" that few U.S. music events have been able to duplicate, and an amount of media coverage that only a few festivals can also boast. Set in the gorgeous California desert just a few hours south of Hollywood, Coachella remains a posh experience of music absorption, the first major summer festival of each year, and a destination that attracts celebrities and, thus, eyeballs. How many of Chance The Rapper's other festival performances will Justin Bieber attend this summer after Coachella? Likely none. As long as Coachella maintains that glossy appeal and ability to get people talking, the pop sphere will try to puncture it, as it successfully did in 2014.

It's a Housewives summit! Carole Radziwill and Kristen Taekman recently swapped saucy stories with their West Coast counterparts, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Brandi Glanville and Yolanda Foster, for an upcoming crossover episode of the Real Housewives of New York City.

The ladies who lunch gathered at Sarabeth's in Manhattan, where they gabbed about everything from their past and present dating lives to crazy nights out.

First on the menu was Radziwill's talked-about romance with George Clooney. "We dated literally during the Eisenhower administration," she told the girls of the "lovely" actor, 52.

Radziwill's romance with the hunky actor was revealed back in 2012 during an NYC Housewives episode that featured the the 50-year-old author on the beach. An impressed Sonja Morgan quipped, "Look at the ass on Carole… No wonder Clooney did her for a year."

Glanville, 41, also dished about 36-year-old Taekman's epic Las Vegas bachelorette party back in 2004, and said she caught the bride-to-be "kissing" an Elvis impersonator. The lunch, though, was a judgment-free zone. Ridziwill added, "We've all kissed some frogs -- and some princes, too."

Elsewhere: Ramona is back from her family trip to Africa and she's collected a new-found inner peace. Kristen and Carole meet their old friends Brandi and Yolanda from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Heather and Jonathan host a 10-year anniversary party, but when Heather finds out that some of her "friends" decided to boycott the event, a tempest of anger forms.

Sonja talks interns and drama!

Fans of are loving the new season. Examiner got the opportunity to talk to Sonja about the show via email and find out her thoughts on her interns, drama, and even her newest project. This season has already aired five episodes, but the drama is just starting to heat up.

Are you really as close with your interns as it looks like?

Yes because that's the deal. The interns are working side-by-side with me because they are here to learn and I get an extra set of hands to help me out while they observe. They are so quick on the computers! I find it so helpful when I need to download something. I have to say I'm getting pretty good myself with the social media. I even received a state Senate award for my entrepreneurial use of social media to develop my lifestyle brand. My interns and I get pretty close working side-by-side and we have dinner together every night at six pm to talk about how the day went down. We I invite other people from Team Sonja that we film with so we can all reciprocate and grow together. It's rather gratifying.

What did you think of the woman's rude reactions when you took off your jacket?

I don't think much of her comments. I've seen it many times in my life since I was a young girl It's usually a sign of jealousy and someone who is looking for attention. They usually come out in the wash. My team is comprised of people who want to help other people and grow together. We inspire each other to be the best possible so we can be ourselves in our unique ways and embrace our differences. That's why New York is known as the city of tolerance.

Everyone has been anticipating your toaster oven and love your recipes whatever happened?

When I met with the department store they let me know that you can't put Sonja Morgan in a Toaster oven box they want a much more extensive international lifestyle brand. I have nailed down a very concise brand ID and seven beautiful logos. Now at my showroom in the garment district I am meeting with different investors to take it global. That is the goal at this point.

RHONY looks saggy in the ratings!

The drama is carrying over into the cast members’ real lives, as falling ratings are prompting the knives to come out, a source close to the show tells us.

“There’s paranoia because they all think they’re going to be fired,” our insider says. We hear Bravo has informed the ladies that this week’s episode of the reality series drew just 1.2 million viewers, a low for the show.

“That’s the lowest since the very first episode of the very first season, when they were introducing the show to America,” says our tipster.

The only one who isn’t shaking in her boots is Ramona Singer. We’re told Singer wasn’t on the most recent episode because she was traveling in Africa when it was filmed. “Ramona was off on a trip, so now she thinks the ratings are low because the show was lacking her presence,” sniffs our source. “She believes she is the star of the show.”

Offscreen, Carole Radziwill and Heather Thomson remain BFFs. They are united against Aviva Drescher in a catfight over who has the best writing chops. Radziwill has penned two books, while Drescher recently released Leggy Blonde: A Memoir. “Aviva looks at the show like a job. It’s fun and useful, but she has her husband and kids and a great life and could care less about the drama,” says our source.

Meanwhile, Co-Founder & CEO of New York Image Consultant Amanda Sanders, slated to become a full-time cast member, was pushed into a tiny role on the series by Bravo execs in favor of new Housewife Kristen Taekman.

We’ve learned that the other Housewives ganged up to shaft Sanders and rooted for Taekman to get a bigger role, even though Sanders had a contract with Bravo to star on the series.

“Watching Kristen is like watching paint dry,” one insider says. “Carole kept calling Amanda ‘Mindy.’ Heather went after Amanda and wanted her off the air because she’s best friends with Kristen. It was that ‘Mean Girls’ gang-up mentality.”

Another source says Sanders was “awful” on camera, bullying her way into scenes she shouldn’t have been in. We hear she is not in any more episodes because she inserted herself into the wrong scenes.

As for the low ratings, a Bravo insider says they were expected. “The show was off the air for 15 months, so it’s impressive this many people tuned back in. The network is confident the audience will continue to build.”

The People's Couch Moves to Primetime!

Bravo Media’s voyeuristic series, The People’s Couch, moves to primetime on a new night beginning Tuesday, April 15 at 10pm ET/PT out of The Real Housewives of New York City.

The People's Couch is a half-hour comedic documentary series that turns the cameras around as everyday people at home watch and comment on the buzziest shows from the past week.

Starting as a cult favorite, The People's Couch recently delivered a series high with 655,000 total viewers in its late-night timeslot according to Nielsen and is developing a rabid fan base on Twitter where the average number of engagements per author has increased 85 percent since its season premiere.
