Phil of the Future star Raviv Ullman shared in an Instagram post reflecting on the past year of 'deconstructing toxic masculinity' and 'tearing down the patriarchy' seen in the new generation. Photographer Kaitlyn Mikayla shot Ullman sporting lipstick, skirts, and dresses in suggestive (?) poses. I can't find much updates on him but he's still decently active on Twitter and has been doing lowkey Off Broadway projects in the last few years, and supporting political causes like the Standing Rock Reservation.

Questlove tweets and deletes explanation for declining to be interviewed in the new R. Kelly doc

After a quote from filmmaker dream hampton about Questlove's response to being asked to give an interview for the R. Kelly doc began to circulate on Twitter, Questlove quickly responded. He said that he was asked to be in the "genius", "good times" part of the documentary and he didn't want to go on camera and talk about how brilliant R. Kelly was:
I always thought Kels was trash. My reason for declining the RKelly docu that I support 10000000 percent is I didn’t wanna be in the “good times” portion of the doc, like stanning for his “genius”. I was asked to talk about his genius. I do not nor have I EVER stanned for him.

Just wanna make that abundantly clear in a non “he doth protest too much” way. That quote makes it look like I’m protecting him. I’m thinking “damn I don’t wanna be the one guy I always am in documentaries fawning over someone I detest. So make ZERO mistake on my positioning.

Netflix warns people not to do the ‘Bird Box challenge’

The hit Netflix film Bird Box has naturally spawned a viral social media challenge called #TheBirdBoxChallenge in which people blindfold themselves doing everyday tasks. In the film, Sandra Bullock’s character is forced to navigate the world blindfolded in order to protect herself from seeing a deadly force. While no one has died taking part in the challenge, there have been some injuries documented on video on social media.

  • After TMZ revealed that former American Idol co-host (season one on FOX) and comedian Brian Dunkleman has been working as an Uber driver, he responded to those who might be job-shaming him.
  • He explained that he stopped doing comedy so that could be with his son more. Dunkleman is currently fighting for custody with his wife during their contentious divorce proceedings.
  • Dunkleman's response was: “I chose to stop doing standup comedy and started driving an Uber so I could be there for my son as much as he needed after our life as we knew it was destroyed. Print that.“ He added: "And I make over a grand on a good week motherf___"

Nat Geo Pulls Neil deGrasse Tyson’s ‘StarTalk’ Amid Misconduct Allegations

National Geographic Channel has pulled its long-running Neil deGrasse Tyson chat show off the air, for now, following allegations of sexual misconduct against the famed astrophysicist.

“In order to allow the investigation to occur unimpeded we chose to hold new episodes of ‘Star Talk’ until it is complete,” a Nat Geo rep told Variety. “We expect that to happen in the next few weeks at which time we’ll make a final decision.”

- Homophobe and admitted abuser, Kevin Hart will be on Ellen tomorrow.
- Ellen posted parts of the interview on her Twitter. It's a mess.
- Kevin clearly hired a new PR team, cause this is someone who has a script, though it's not a good one.
- Kevin pretends he has apologized a million times (he didn't). He said he was slandered (he wasn't, he was given an opportunity to apologize, he didn't). Claims society wants a perfect person and you won't find one and so people need to stop looking for one.
- Kevin says he was targeted and people want to destroy him.
- Kevin Hart continues to not apologize.
- Ellen begs him to take the job back!?!?! She called the Academy and said he isn't homophobic because they're friends, and they want him back now!??!
- Neither fully address the LGBT community. Ellen says he shouldn't let "those people" win. And that people are "haters" and "trolls"
- I really need some journalist to dig into why Ellen is the go to place for douches.

Pokemon is releasing a follow-up to it's first movie, 21 years later.

- A trailer has been released for the 22nd Pokemon movie (not including Detective Pikachu).
- 'Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution' is a sequel to the first Pokemon movie 'Mewtwo Strikes Back', this is 21 years after the first film premiered in 1998.
- A special direct-to-VHS episode was also released in 2001 following the events of the first movie, and the 2013 movie also featured the return of Mewtwo to fight the Gensect... but apparently they decided to ignore that because fuck continuity.

For Black Directors, 2018 Was a Banner Year, Not So Much for Women, Asians

In 2018, more Hollywood studio films were directed by black filmmakers than at any time before.
However the director’s chair still remains overwhelmingly white and male.

The extensive study primarily examines gender, race/ethnicity, and age in front of and behind the camera, both for film and television.

14% of the directors of the top 100 movies last year were black. No mirror among female or Asian directors.
Of the 112 directors behind the 100 top-grossing films of 2018: 108 men, 4 women filmmakers (DuVernay, Cannon, Kohn, Fogel)
Of the 1,200 top grossing films released between 2007 and 2018, 9 were directed by WOC (5 African American women, 3 Asian women, 1 Latina)
WOC are nearly invisible in film production (directors, producers, or in below-the-line crew positions)
Only 1 WOC worked as a composer across the 300 films examined.
4 Asian directors worked across the 100 top films of 2018. 
18% of the “Produced by” credits on the top 300 movies of the last 3 years went to women (1.6% were WOC, 9.8% were MOC)
Across the 7 major entertainment companies, 25% of the board members were female.

The report does not include analyses of industry members of the LGBTQIA community or people with disabilities.

Michael B. Jordan Landed ‘All My Children’ After Chadwick Boseman Got Fired

In 2003, Jordan joined the cast of the ABC soap opera “All My Children” in the role of Reggie Porter.
Jordan took over the role from Boseman, who played Porter for just one week.
The reason why it happened was finally revealed by Boseman. 
Boseman had some issues with the way Reggie Porter was written using racial stereotypes. 
Reggie was a young gang member who was adopted by Erica Kane and her husband, Jackson Montgomery.
Boseman did not agree with how the writers wanted to portray Reggie on the program.
All My Children” was his first acting credit, but he decided to speak up, was fired for being "too much trouble".
They took some of his suggestions.
Boseman’s decision to stand up for the character affected the kind of role being offered to Jordan.

Someone bought a billboard in Hollywood for Lady Gaga’s ‘A Star Is Born’ character Ally

Days ahead of the Golden Globes this weekend, a billboard advertising A Star Is Born's Ally Maine went up in West Hollywood next to the Chateau Marmont.

In the film, the billboard is shown in a scene where Ally and Bradley Cooper’s Jackson look out and see the billboard on the Sunset Strip.







No one has admitted to buying the billboard yet. Tyler Oakley posted a cryptic tweet hinting that he put up the poster, but later clarified that he was not his doing:
