It appears Ciri in "The Witcher" Netflix series won't be white; Twitter gets racist about it

$

0

The casting call asks "for a 16 or 15 year old BAME (black, Asian, minority ethnic) girl who can play down to 13/14." There's a whole lot of terrible takes on twitter at the moment about how Ciri is a proud white woman and "what if we made black characters white then it's whitewashing!!!11" bullshit.

OP still knows nothing about this series but racists can stay mad and I can stay thirsty for Cavill

First reviews are in for Steve McQueen's 'Widows' starring Viola Davis, more

Reactions and reviews are pouring in now for Steve McQueen's very anticipated heist movie 'Widows', and of course to no surprise it's getting raves for Viola Davis. Also in awards discussion are actors Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Kaluuya, Cynthia Erivo... honestly everyone.

This one'll probably lock the SAG Awards ensemble win. A fun blockbuster of a thriller that has been compared to 'The Departed', 'The Town', and other similar-minded acclaimed features.

10 (4) sharp facts about True Blood for its 10 years anniversary

$
0
0
The show debuted on September 7, 2008 and concluded in August 2014 after 80 episodes. This trash show had everything Game Of Thrones wishes it had : sex, violence, more sex, more violence, sex during violent moments and violence during sex, and also humor and became the highest-rating show since the Sopranos.

Here's 4 things you might not now and 4 excuses for us to take a nostalgic trip back to BonTemps.

1. Harris (original writer of the books) used the vampires to comment on gay rights

  • “When I began framing how I was going to represent the vampires, it suddenly occurred to me that it would be interesting if they were a minority that was trying to get equal rights,” “It just seemed to fit with what was happening in the world right then.”

  • Ball didn’t agree with her. “I have a hard time seeing the vampires as a metaphor for gays and lesbians,” he told Rolling Stone. “Just because the vampires on our show are, for the most part, vicious murderers and predators, and I’m gay myself, so I don’t really want to say, ‘Hey, gays and lesbians are basically viciously amoral murderers.’”

2. Alan Ball (creator) thought the show is about intimacy

  • HBO asked Ball for a one-sentence pitch for what the show was about : ‘Well, ultimately at its heart, it’s about the terrors of intimacy,’” he told The New York Times. “Which is an answer I just pulled totally out of [nowhere] at that moment. But I do think that actually, there is some truth to that. That is kind of what it’s about.”

  • In 2012 he thought the show was about “how we deal with our primal desires. How do those elements of our psyche manifest themselves in a world where monsters were real?”

3. Alexander Skarsgard didn't care if his bits were out

  • Female actors wore thongs (remember those awful merkins??? too afraid to google for gifs tbh) while male actors wore socks on their private parts.

  • But Alexander Skarsgård bucked the trend during the season six finale. Eric is sunbathing on a snowy landscape in the mountains of Sweden

  • “And it was a very hot day, so I didn’t need the sock,” At the end of the scene, Skarsgård gets up from his chair and reveals, well, everything, so to speak.

  • “I don’t want a sock around it, that feels ridiculous," Skarsgård told Rolling Stone. "If we’re naked in the scene, then I’m naked. I’ve always been that way.”

4. Denis O'Hare based his character on paganism

  • Russell Edgington, a.k.a. the King of Mississippi a.k.a True Blood's best character is a 2800-year-old vampire. O’Hare researched that era and decided to make him a Pagan Celt.

  • “They are just wild people,” “They have a very different relationship to everything in terms of nature and in terms of their own belief system. I just love that. That kind of helped make him just a different kind of character.”

Kendall Jenner (22) and Anwar Hadid (19) are apparently hooking up again. On Wednesday, Kendall was at a club with Gigi, Bella and Anwar Hadid and according to a source Kendall and Anwar couldn't keep their hands off each other.

“Kendall was sitting with Anwar all night and made out with him for quite some time. They didn’t give a damn who saw them.”

They were spotted again at the same nightclub on Friday.

Kendall and Anwar were also seen together last week in LA / Malibu with a group of friends (including Bella).

The two were first linked back in June, when pictures of them making out surfaced after the CFDA Fashion Awards. Kendall has spent the summer dating Ben Simmons, but the two have apparently split.

Nicki Minaj will not press charges against Cardi B

The source (Nicki's PR team lol) states that Nicki will not press charges because she was "totally unbothered by it".

Nicki and nobody on her team were injured either so she sees no reason to file a police report and carry on with the drama.

Cardi was elbowed in the head by the security team Nicki was hiding behind which caused that lump on her eyebrow. The confrontation started when Cardi overheard Nicki commenting on her mothering skills as well as her newborn daughter Kulture.

Nicki is reportedly playing it "totally cool" and not letting the incident effect her in the slightest (lol).

Do you think Nicki is actually unbothered ONTD?

Lady Gaga says "fame is very unnatural" at #TIFF18 presscon

  • Grammy® award-winning singer and actress Lady Gaga attended the #TIFF18 presscon for her film debut 'A Star is Born' today. The "Paparazzi" singer said during the presscon that "fame is very unnatural" and Hollywood should intervene to save artists struggling from mental health, addiction, and substance abuse issues.

  • “I think what would be wonderful is that we intervene early in life when we see people struggling. I think fame is very unnatural. And we see that Jack is struggling is this film. There's substance abuse, there's trauma. Ally also, for me, is struggling from depression at the beginning of the film, in not believing in herself. I think it's important that we guide artists and take care of them on a psychological level as they rise. People think that we change, but it's not us that changes, it’s everyone around us that changes.”
