Les Moonves Accused of Sex Crimes, Violence By More Women

0
0

More women have brought allegations of sexual harassment, sexual assault and violence against CBS C.E.O., Les Moonves.
Six more women claim Moonves forced them into unwanted sexual situations and allegedly retaliated when they refused.
Moonves allegedly did an array of unwanted actions, including forcing them to preform oral sex on him and allegedly exposed himself to them.

The board of the CBS Corp. is currently negotiating his departure.
Moonves said three of the women who were accusing him of assault were participating in consensual situations.

This comes as no surprise as Cardi B was seated front-row center at Wednesday night’s Tom Ford runway show next to Anna Wintour, Tom Hanks and “Crazy Rich Asians” star Henry Golding 2 days before Friday’s altercation.

First reviews are in for 'Ben is Back' starring Julia Roberts and Lucas Hedges

0
0

Long story short: yes, we have two drug-addiction melodramas this year between parent and child. Yes, this one is also getting insane universal acclaim for the leads, this time Julia Roberts and Lucas Hedges, and they will probably be in the Oscars race this year.

'Ben is Back' as a movie is getting mixed reviews, but the acting is top notch. Now it's just Lucas Hedges's worry of which of his two lead roles he's going to put in for Best Actor this year, this or Boy Erased. I'm guessing it'll be this one since this got WAY better reviews for him. 'Ben is Back' hits theaters in December.

Also, methinks Lucas might need a tag here soon since he's got so many damn movies out this fall.

Early review round-up: Halloween

0
0
Halloween had its world premiere last night in the Midnight Madness section of TIFF. Early reviews praise Jamie Lee Curtis, John Carpenter's score and its fresh suspense. "Fan service" was thrown around a few times, but mostly in a positive way.

Snippets behind the cut:

Nerdist: A profoundly feminist re-examination of its psychology of trauma through its iconography. It’s also a rip-roaring slasher flick that’s hands down the best Halloween sequel ever.

Entertainment Weekly: The movie mostly works because it’s so fundamental, and funny too: Michael still never speaks; his mask and his slow, deadly, deliberate walk say everything they need to. At 59, Curtis seems to have fully arrived in her role as a midnight-madness queen.

Variety: That makes this new “Halloween” an act of fan service disguised as a horror movie. The fact it works as both means that Green has pulled off what he set out to do, tying up the mythology that Carpenter and company established, while delivering plenty of fresh suspense — and grisly-creative kills — for younger audiences.

The Hollywood Reporter: Carpenter should be pleased, and so should genre buffs — for once, this is a pic their less geeky girl/boyfriends should enjoy.

The film hits theaters October 18.

Peter Dinklage talks about Tyrion's complicated feelings for Jon and Daenerys

0

Peter on Jon and Daenerys and their romance:

"Ah, it’s complicated…” Dinklage says. “A lot of the time with Tyrion, it’s professional and personal. Obviously, he has feelings for Daenerys. He loves her — or thinks he does. She’s awe-inspiring. He’s questioning that because he doesn’t have a good track record for falling in love. There’s jealousy wrapped up in there. And he loves Jon Snow, too. They’re the two people he has the most in common with, in a way — they’re both outsiders in their own families who have refused to follow the path their family has taken, and hopefully for the better. He’s wondering how smart of a move [Jon and Dany getting romantically involved is], because passion and politics don’t mix well. He knows the two of them getting together could be very dangerous.”

Are You Afraid of the Dark? movie to tell original story

0
0

Gary Dauberman (The Nun, It: Chapter Two) discussed the screenplay for the upcoming 'Are You Afraid of the Dark' film; “It is a completely original story I came up with, but it still has the Midnight Society and it still has the campfire."

He also discussed making the movie scary for kids. “I didn’t want to age it down too much because for it’s time, it had some really disturbing episodes and some really dark episodes. Not every story the Midnight Society told ended with happily ever after or a person learning their lesson and it will never happen again. I really embraced that side of things and I think it’s been a long time. I think fear is healthy for kids. I don’t think we have to always sand down the edges of things and that’s something I really wanted to do with Are You Afraid of the Dark."

Lana Del Rey's New Song References Interview Where She Wished She was Dead?

0
0

- Lana Del Rey posted a new snippet on her Instagram of a song called "Mariners Apartment Complex" a couple of days ago.

- A few years back during the Ultraviolence era, Lana sparked controversy over her #pensive thoughts expressing she wished she was dead when the interviewer was discussing Lana's musical heroes that passed away young like Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse.

- The quote got Francis Cobain's attention when she believed Lana was glamorizing death.

- The lyrics of "Mariners Apartment Complex" could be referencing the interview and its location it took place at, heard in the snippet and seen in a fan's tweet.

- Whether the interviewer misconstrued her tone to be actually serious instead of hyperbolic, Ms. Grant does not always have the best luck in choosing her words, when she was once accused of being anti-feminist some years back. However with her most recent album Lust For Life, she shares a lot more liberal views than what was assumed of her.

Do you think she's trying to clear up something?

First reviews in for 'Life, Itself', from the creator of 'This is Us'

0
0

I mention the 'creator of This is Us' for a reason, because all the reviews are calling the upcoming drama 'Life, Itself' a manipulative piece of shit.

Those who watch 'This is Us' can understand the similarities, but this movie is being TRASHED. It premiered yesterday at TIFF as well. I cackled especially at Louis Peitzman's review under the cut. The all-star cast isn't going to help this pile of drivel (no awards in the future for this one).

Beale Street premieres shortly, so hopefully excellent reviews to come from that!

ONTD, do you love some good music festival drama? Then look no further...

-With Riot Fest just a week away, fans had been itching to discover the second wave of acts
-Riot Fest organizers had been very silent, saying they are coming soon, etc.
-The daily lineups had not been announced
-Fans on Reddit were speculating the whole thing would be called off

BUT!

-Blink 182 has dropped out of the lineup due to Travis' health conditions
-Blink 182 says they will perform at next year's Riot Fest
-Weezer, Run The Jewels, and Taking Back Sunday were named as replacement acts
-Fans are pissed that this really wasn't a "second wave" but also somewhat thrilled about Run The Jewels being there
-Fans are also pissed that the "?????" on the original lineup poster was never named and has since been deleted
-Bauhaus was rumoured to be there, but they are not on the lineup

Lana Condor disappointed and hurt by Israel Broussard's insensitive Tweets

0
0

During a recent interview, Netflix’sTo All The Boys I’ve Loved Before actress Lana Condor was asked her thoughts on her co-star Israel Broussard's history of racist tweets:

“Yeah, man. It’s very, very, very disappointing. And hurtful. Particularly for all the obvious reasons. The things he said are totally and completely wrong and upsetting. For me personally, I’m the one that has to answer these questions. That’s really unfair given that it should be him speaking on behalf of his actions. It’s very upsetting and unfortunate. I hope that he learns from this and grows to be a better person. I couldn't imagine him not being better.”

Last month, Twitter users pulled up racist tweets and likes that weren’t even from that long ago. Some gems included:
🚮 “Dogs can sense earthquakes. Too bad Japan ate them all.”
🚮 “I'm not going out for a gay role, thank you though. Haha.”
🚮 “Hashtags don’t fucken matter. But all lives do. Black lives matter. White lives matter. Blue lives matter.”

Just to name a few.

Israel later apologized on Twitter, writing, “I am deeply sorry for my inappropriate and insensitive words and likes on social media. I take full responsibility for my actions and I sincerely apologize. This has been a pivotal life lesson for me. I am dedication to be a more informed and educated version of myself. Much love — Israel.”

ONTD Original: Comparing/Contrasting BTVS: The Movie/Tv show

0
0

Having recently rewatched BTVS: The Movie I was compelled to compare/contrast what we know in the movie vs. the tv show! There were a lot of things that changed once Buffy was adapted for tv.

Buffy
BTVS3BeFunky-collage.jpg
Differences:
The Movie: Buffy has no last name. Buffy is in her senior year of high school when called to be The Vampire Slayer by Merrick. Hemrey High Stadium is kept in tact after Buffy defeats all the vampires.
Tv Show: Buffy is known as Buffy Summers. Buffy is in her sophomore year of high school when called to be The Vampire Slayer by Merrick. Buffy burns down Hemrey High Stadium in order to kill all the vampires inside.

Similarities:
In both universes Buffy is the most popular girl in her class and is known to be stuck up and basic at school. Both are cheerleaders at Hemerey.

Buffys Mom
BTVS6BeFunky-collage.jpg
Differences:
The Movie: Buffys mom has no given name in the film but she seems to be very superficial and doesnt seem to be that interested in her daughters life.
Tv show: Joyce is very much the average mom, very caring, and into her daughters life.

Similarities:
Both were married when Buffy was first called to be The Slayer.

The Watcher
BTVS4BeFunky-collage.jpg
Differences:
The Movie: Merrick has lived thousands of lives with his eternal duty to train the slayer until the day that Vampires no longer walk the Earth.
Tv Show: There is a whole council of Watchers whose lives are devoted to fighting the forces of evil. Since there is a council that has dated back centuries, there is no single watcher that watches over whichever Slayer is activated at the time. We meet Merrick very briefly but even those few seconds you can tell that he is nothing like his movie counterpart.

Similarities:
Merrick is the one to tell Buffy that she has been called to be The Chosen One and gives her first round of training.

Vampire Slayers
BTVS1BeFunky-collage.jpg
Differences:
The Movie: Slayers are born with a unique mole on a specific part of their body that allows The Watcher to notice them. They also have Vampire Like PMS, whenever a vampire is around they get cramps as their own unique spidey sense
Tv Show: Slayers are not born with any physical marks that are unique to them though The Watchers Council is able to identify Potentials through magic, girls who may be called once the current Slayer is dead. Some are trained since birth while others are not found until after they've been activated. Slayers don't have cramps when Vamps are around, they may be able to feel vamps after they are well acquainted with them but it is very less defined.

Similarities
They both follow the same lingo: Into Every Generation There is a Chosen One... blah blah blah
Both Buffys have prophetic dreams.

Vampires
BTVS5BeFunky-collage.jpg
Differences:
The Movie: Once someone is turned into a vampire their physical features change. They get bat like ears, fangs, and the ability to fly. Once a vampire is slayed, their bodies do not seem to shatter into a poof of dust. They just lay there like a normal corpse.
Tv Show: Vampires in the tv show are able to hide their true nature a lot easier, they keep their normal facial features until they are ready to reveal their true nature in which their force turns more vicious with different colored eyes, fangs, rigid forehead. They are not able to fly. Once slayed, Vampires turn to dust as to not leave any evidence of their bodies.

Similarities
Both have the same weakness to wood and holy water. While it isnt completely clear in the movie if you must drink a vampires blood to turn into a vampire we can assume that both must be near death and drink the vamps blood to be sired.

The Big Bad
BTVS2BeFunky-collage.jpg
Differences:
The Movie: Lotho is an ancient Vampire who has been killing Vampire Slayers for a millennia. He seems to hunt them down and is just rude.
Tv Show: From what we know in the tv show, Buffy doesnt seem to have had a big bad when she was first called. She just fought a bunch of vamps but once she gets to Sunnydale she faces The Master who is an ancient Vampire who has killed Vampire Slayers throughout history. He was stuck on The Hellmouth and needed The Slayers blood to finally release him.

Similarities:
Both Lotho and The Master command a group of vampires and have trusted generals. In the movie it was Amilyn who is a bit of a goof. In the tv show it is Darla and Luke.

Side fun fact:
Ben Affleck had a cameo in the movie! As did Ricki Lake.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Along with Hillary Swank who had a much bigger role as one of Buffys friends.

Seth Green had a cameo that was cut from the film as a vampire.

First reviews for Barry Jenkins''If Beale Street Could Talk' at TIFF

0

Honestly, is anyone really surprised that Barry Jenkins' followup to 'Moonlight' was going to be incredible? The world premiere for 'If Beale Street Could Talk' just finished at TIFF, and the reviews are pouring on Twitter. The word masterpiece has been thrown around quite a bit.

The cast, the camerawork, the story, the directing, everything is getting insane praise. Barry's back in the Oscars game and bigtime. Special love was given to actress Regina King, who'll probably be a big player in the Supporting Actress race this year.

I might do another review roundup for when 'Mid90s' premieres tonight too, yes/no?
