Performing in front of thousands of fans takes both confidence and style—a combination in the musical word that has bred some of the most sartorially savvy singers around. From Charlotte Gainsbourg to Lady GaGa, these fearless showstoppers demonstrate a shared sense of female empowerment, enviable individual style, and unquestionable muse-worthiness.
Charlotte Gainsbourg was born with a pedigree for impeccable style: her mother, English singer-actress Jane Birkin, is one of themost referenced style icons of all time (not to mention the inspiration for Hermès’s iconic “Birkin” bag); her father, Serge Gainsbourg, is probably the most notorious French pop singer of all time. It’s no wonder, then, that daughter Charlotte projects a captivating, effortless sophistication that is all her own. When not dressed in Balmain’s embellished, rocker-chic pieces, the International Best-Dressed List alum favors androgynous separates, minimal makeup, and eye-catching shoes.
Anyone whose alter ego goes by the name of “Sasha Fierce” should know how to rock a daring ensemble. A self-proclaimed feminist, Beyoncé celebrates her “grown woman”-hood in provocative form-fitting pieces that accentuate her well-toned body. Still, this year’s International Best-Dressed List honoree maintains an air of sophisticated elegance that often eludes many of her more exhibitionistic counterparts. Most recently, the glamorous singer caused a stir by chopping off her famous long hair into a rebellious chop.
LANA DEL REY
A self-described “gangsta Nancy Sinatra,” Lana Del Rey gained overnight fame with the viral success of her self-made video for her debut single, “Video Games.” Del Rey, née Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, mixes the style of 1960s Americana, Old Hollywood glamour, and old-school hip hop. The singer’s outfits are accentuated by her Veronica Lake hairdo, winged-out eyeliner, and gangster-inspired nails and accessories. While this mixture of ostensibly disparate styles would seem a recipe for fashion disaster, the muse for classic British fashion label Mulberry, and H&M, pulls it off with hypnotic charm and panache.
“This year, the airwaves belong to Adele,” we announced in 2012, when the British singer was included in our annual New Establishment List. By 2012, her second album, 21, had won six Grammys and sold over 10 million copies in the U.S. Already a fashion tour de force and Vogue favorite, the vocal phenomenon’s go-to style includes retro cat-eyes, a beehive hairdo, and simple, figure-flattering dresses often custom-designed by Burberry. For the most recent Grammy Awards ceremony, however, the singer wore a cheerful red-floral Valentino frock. Brava!
The powerhouse lead of British indie band Florence + The Machine, Florence Welch’s larger than life persona made her an instant fashion darling upon the release of her 2009 debut album. With a penchant for dramatic, folksy dresses, paired with her flame-red hair and ivory skin, the Hot Tracks artist has been named the “perfect Gucci girl” by Frida Giannini and has become the muse to multiple fashion houses including Valentino, Chanel, and Mulberry. The singer wears flowing goddess gowns, platform heels, and loud vintage finds.

Despite having publicly apologized, it seems Tamar Braxton is still rubbing Joseline Hernandez the wrong way.
The “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” star, recently spoke to Rolling Out about her fellow reality star/musician and suggested that maybe the new mom is just jealous.
“I’m the baddest b!t@# out there in the streets. [They say] ‘how dare this little immigrant girl come from Puerto Rico [and] just become a star.’ You know I hate that s#_t! They’re jealous,” said Joseline, who added. “Shout-out to Tamar Braxton.”
Earlier this year to two engaged in a Twitter beef after Tamar called Joseline a man on Tameka “Tiny” Harris’ VH1 show, “Tiny Tonight.”
Joseline responded by calling Tamar an “old crusty Beyoncé wannabe.” Tamar took the high road and offered an apology, but more than six months later, it seems Joseline still holds a grudge.
Not only did Joseline accuse Tamar of being jealous, she also questioned her talent.
“She wants to be a bad b!t@# like myself but she can’t be. She’s been trying to come out with music for how many years? [It’s been] f_$%g 20 years since her sister [Toni Braxton] was a star,” she said. “I love the haters.”
One person Joseline does not seem to have an issue with now is beau Stevie J, who she supposedly married since the “LHHATL” finale aired.
“I mean we do go together — it just works. I never met a guy that everything just works out. I’ve had a lot boyfriends but that one — we just work out,” she said. “I love him. He’s a great guy.”
Has Tamar Braxton been lip synching and manipulating sales and chart standings by buying her own records?
Addressing the "Braxton Family Values" star and "Love and War" singer via Twitter Tuesday, K. Michelle alleged that Tamar might be doing those things.
It all started when Tamar tweeted about losing her wig.
"Damn! I lost my wig!!!........#shadebutnoshade ;)," wrote Tamar Braxton.
K. Michelle went in on her after, saying Kermit (the frog) snatched her wig....
"You didn't lose your wig, Kermit snatched it. #Realtalk. Rebel against muppets gone wild! No shade. Rebel against lip synching and buying ur own singles. Noshade," K. Michelle wrote, referencing Tamar, like she has in the past, as a muppet. "I'm in a positive place but I ain't no punk!!! Dont come for a G. Now let me go to the boys and girls club and talk to the kids."
With all of that said, both women left it at that, choosing to promote their new projects and releases, including Tamar announcing the upcoming release date and option to pre-order her album. K. Michelle did the same, promoting a remix of "V.S.O.P.," featuring Jeezy, and the release of her album, "Rebellious Soul," which is available now.

Kate Upton has won the coveted title of 2013 Model of the Year. The buxom blond will formally accept the award at Wednesday night's 10th Annual Style Awards in New York City.
The event, which kicks off New York Fashion Week, will celebrate the two-time Sports Illustrated model in all her bikini glory. Nicole Richie will be on hand to host the evening's festivities.
And there's no doubt that she's had one heck of a busy year.
Between joining the likes of Kate Moss and Gisele Bündchen as the face of jewelry retailer David Yurman, to filming future Hollywood blockbusters with Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann over the summer, 2013 has been good to Upton.
It doesn't come easily either...the blond has been working nonstop on her career since her first big break with her debut SI Swimsuit cover in 2011.
She's even made the difficult transition from bikini model to high fashion starlet by gracing the covers of both American and Brazilian Vogue this year. Impressive.
But given the shots we've seen from her one of her many upcoming projects—a role in The Other Woman where she rocks itty-bitty bikinis—we're not so sure she's ready to completely retire her two-piece just yet.
Do you agree?; who would you pick?
A Samsung Galaxy Note 3 concept image brings Galaxy Note 3 leaks to life ahead of the device’s September 4th launch date in Berlin, Germany.
With the Galaxy Note 3 just a few weeks away from arriving at a Samsung Unpacked event, leaks are plentiful as consumers gear up for Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2 successor. The device, while unofficial, has emerged from the shadows many times offering consumers an idea about what to expect when it comes to hardware, software and more.
Rumors suggest that the device will boast a 5.68-inch 1080p display, a 13MP camera, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, new S Pen features, massive battery and a new design. However, due to Samsung’s security, we haven’t managed to get a clear shot of the Galaxy Note 3 design meaning it’s a bit of a mystery ahead of the device’s September 4th launch.
That said, Stellist Design took it upon itself to create a Galaxy Note 3 concept that makes all the Galaxy Note 3 leaks a reality. We see a design that is a bit taller than the Galaxy Note 2 to help fit the larger display. We see the thinner bezels which make the front of the device almost all screen. We see the Galaxy Note 3 background and lock screen that leaked out just a few short days ago. On the back, we see the camera mounted in the middle with LED flash, speaker grill and headphone jack.
We also get a look at how the device might match up with the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Samsung’s current Galaxy Note model that is shown side-by-side with the Galaxy Note 3 concept.
This concept might not be identical to the Galaxy Note 3 but it could be close given that it’s based on the many leaks that we’ve seen emerge over the past few months ahead of the device’s arrival on shelves.
Samsung confirmed the Galaxy Note 3 for arrival on September 4th alongside the Samsung Galaxy Gear, a smartwatch expected to be a companion for a device like the Galaxy Note 3.
Galaxy Note 3 release date rumors indicate that the device could be out in mid-to-late September with rumors suggesting that we could see it as early as September 16th.
The United States was one of the first countries to get the Samsung Galaxy S4 but it’s unclear if the U.S. will be a part of the initial regions that offer the Galaxy Note 2.
Samsung’s launch event is thought to be coming about a week ahead of Apple’s iPhone 5S launch which looks set for September 10th. Invites have not been sent out yet so it’s possible that Apple will try to steal some thunder from Samsung by announcing the iPhone 5S launch date around the Galaxy Note 3 launch.
OP NOTE: im only making a post because i really need help choosing a phone lol... Iphone 5, Galaxy Note II or should i just wait for the damn Note 3 to finally be released by Tmobile?? my impatient ass is probably just gonna walk my black ass to Tmobile on Saturday and get the Note II.. smdh
The new music video for the title track off Sleigh Bells' third LP, "Bitter Rivals", out October 8th on Mom+Pop. Pre-Order: here
The album is a 10-song LP produced by Derek Miller and mixed by Andrew Dawson (whose recent credits include Yeezus, Wolf, Watch the Throne, 4, and Teflon Don). Check out the tracklist below.
The band has also announced a North American tour with Doldrums, which includes a stop at Tresure Island Music Festival and one date with Danny Brown. Check out the full itinerary below.
Revolt points out that Sleigh Bells used a piece of music from the third album in a teaser for Reign of Terror. "The music for that is going to be on the third record," Miller told 107.7 The End last summer. It was one of the last things we recorded and it just didn’t have a spot on the record and I love that piece of music. So I’m going to develop it, flesh it out and arrange it and turn it into a fully fledged song."

Research reveals many Billboard chart-toppers have alcohol ads embedded within them.
What is striking is that a substantial percentage of those chart-topping numbers reference specific brands of alcohol—and only four brands account for more than half of all such mentions.
A lot of hit songs, in effect, have alcohol ads embedded within them.
“Many of the artists of these songs—particularly within the urban genre—have agreements with alcohol companies to promote their brand,” a research team led by Dr. Michael Siegel of the Boston University School of Public Health writes in the journal Substance Use and Misuse. “Thus, alcohol companies may be indirectly promoting brand-specific alcohol use among underage youth through sponsorship of popular artists.”
Utilizing Billboard magazine’s year-end charts from 2009 to 2011, Siegel and his colleagues selected the most popular songs released each year in four genres (pop, rock, country, and “urban,” which combined R&B/hip-hop with rap).
That gave them a total of 720 songs, 167 of which referenced alcohol. Of those, 46 (or 6.4 percent of the total) mentioned a specific brand of booze.
Those references “are concentrated among a small number of brands,” the researchers report. “Four brands alone—Patron tequila, Hennessy cognac, Grey Goose vodka, and Jack Daniel’s whiskey—accounted for more than half of all alcohol brand mentions.”
More than two-thirds of these references occurred in urban songs; surprisingly, “there were no alcohol brand mentions in any of the rock songs,” the researchers write. “Within urban songs, alcohol brand mentions were concentrated among a small number of artists.
“Nearly all of the brand mentions for Patron, Hennessy, Remy Martin, Grey Goose, Ciroc, Cristal and Moetoccurred in urban songs, whereas 4 of the 5 brand mentions for Jack Daniel’s occurred in pop and country songs, and 9 of the 12 references to brands of beer were in country songs.”
OK, that last point is hardly a shocker. Nor is the finding that “popular music is largely portraying alcohol use as a fun part of the youth lifestyle that is free of consequences.”
Nevertheless, Siegel and his colleagues call these results “alarming, because they suggest that popular music may be serving as a major source of promotion of alcohol use in general—and of the consumption of several specific brands in particular—to underage youth.”
Studies such as these inevitably bring up the chicken-and-egg question of whether the art in question is simply mirroring the culture, or actually influencing behavior. Underage kids, after all, were experimenting with liquor long before the rap era.
Either way, however, marketing specific brands to kids by contracting with popular artists is highly questionable, ethically as well as aesthetically. One shudders to think that, if it were written today, the classic drinking song would likely be called “99 Bottles of Heineken on the Wall.”

The most-tweeted about TV episode ever had nothing to do with a Red Wedding, but red coats were involved because it was an episode of ABC Family's "Pretty Little Liars."
According to ABC Family by way of SocialGuide, the "Pretty Little Liars" summer finale was the No. 1 "most tweeted" series episode in TV history. The telecast -- which made some shocking revelations about A -- had nearly 1.9 million tweets by 637,000 contributors, ABC Family said in a press release. The finale episode generated 70,000 tweets per minute during the show's final seconds.
The "Pretty Little Liars" summer finale featured a big reveal (SPOILER WARNING): Ezra (Ian Harding) is "A."
“ABC Family's 'Pretty Little Liars' is a 'pretty' big social media juggernaut. During the summer finale last night, we saw 38 unique topics trend in the US and worldwide, with 'Ezra Is A' still trending nearly 12 hours later. 'Pretty Little Liars' kept the conversation going, and fans engaged throughout the hour-long episode. We also saw immediate traction for ‘Ravenswood’, the ‘PLL’ spin-off series that was promoted during the episode, setting it up as a future social media powerhouse of its own," Jenn Deering Davis, co-founder of Union Metrics, said in a statement.
Harding said his Twitter replies were mainly positive. "Most people were like, ‘Oh my God, you broke my heart, but I need to keep watching!’ I was like, ‘Sorry?’ There’s only so much I can do with me not writing the series. … The reactions were intense; I saw a few videos that I thought were hysterical," he told HollywoodLife.
For fans holding out hope that it was all a fake-out, well, don't hold your breath. "I assure you that there is something going on here with Ezra,""Pretty Little Liars" executive producer Oliver Goldstick told TVLine. "There is something very real going on here. I can’t give you too much information, but I can tell you it plays out quite beautifully in Season 4B. And Aria’s in danger -- well, they all are, but Aria in particular."
"Pretty Little Liars" returns with a Halloween episode, "Grave New World," in October. Read the official description below and check out some Twitter stats from the "Pretty Little Liars" summer finale in the infographic below.
In the special Halloween episode of “Pretty Little Liars,” entitled “Grave New World,” airing Tuesday, October 22nd (8:00 – 9:00 PM ET/PT), Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer crash the Ravenswood Founders Day Celebration after finding a clue in “A’s” new lair that Ali may indeed be alive. Dressed in their finest Edwardian wear, the ladies hit the creepy cemetery party to find Ali before “A” can. But if Ali is truly alive, could the PLLs be leading “A” straight to their friend without knowing it? With Ezra lurking in the shadows, “A” may be closer than the girls realize.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, his wife Ri Sol-Ju and former NBA basketball player Dennis Rodman talk in Pyongyang during his visit earlier this year.Former NBA player Dennis Rodman will arrive in Pyongyang on Tuesday for another visit, but he said that he will not negotiate the release of a jailed American missionary during his five-day trip.
“I’m not going to North Korea to discuss freeing Kenneth Bae,” Rodman told Reuters in a telephone interview.“I’m just going there on another basketball diplomacy tour.”
There had been talk that Rodman, who visited Pyongyang for the first time in February, would try to secure the release of Kenneth Bae, a Christian missionary and tour guide, was arrested last year by North Korean authorities and has been sentenced to 15 years of hard labor for “hostile acts” against the government.
During an interview with an interview with HuffPost Live last week, Rodman said he was “definitely” going to ask Kim Jong-Un for Bae’s release.
“I will definitely ask for Kenneth Bae’s release,” he told HuffPost Live. “I will say, ‘Marshal, why is this guy held hostage?’ I could try and soften it up in that way.”
Rodman said he would be “the most powerful guy in the world” if he successfully negotiated Bae’s release.
But on Monday, Rodman told Reuters his latest trip was to see my friend (Kim) - and I want to talk about basketball.”
Rodman was criticized for his earlier trip to North Korea. At the time, he called Kim, 30, “an awesome kid.”
Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson have landed the coveted lead roles in the Fifty Shades of Grey film adaptation and now the movie’s producer has spoken out on why they were cast!
“Auditions were stunning, incredible chemistry!” producer Michael De Luca tweeted to a fan who sent him a message of excitement about the casting.
Charlie will be playing the role of Christian Grey while Dakota will be taking on Anastasia Steele. The characters start a relationship that revolves around S&M sex.
According to The Wrap, the audition process required the couple to do a “chemistry read” where they did a scene on video to convince the executives that they had the right amount of heat. Guess that audition went well.
The internet has been abuzz all day since it was revealed that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson landed the lead roles in the upcoming movie Fifty Shades of Grey.
Producer Dana Brunetti has now sent his Twitter followers some explanation into the process for choosing the actors to play the roles.
“There is a lot that goes into casting that isn’t just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor, etc,” Dana tweeted. “So if your favorite wasn’t cast, then it is most likely due to something on that list. Keep that in mind while hating and keep perspective.”
E.L. James, the author of the bestselling book series has also sent her fans a message following the casting news she revealed.
“To all the supporters, lovers and haters – thank you so much for the passion that you have for this project. You all rock. All of you. ♡” she tweeted.

Although Tamar loves a pair of Louboutins, she decided to step into a pair of White Versace Ankle Cuff Pumps for her most recent appearance on “Watch What Happens Live earlier this month. They were the contrast piece for her black leather ensemble.
Jennifer Hudson wore the exact same stilettos to accent her summery luxe shorts look at the Do Something Awards back in July.
