Next week, a Rollins-centric episode which seems to be inspired by the Gypsy Rose Blanchard case, because TV writers still think that's surprising somehow. Fortunately, this episode will also mark the return of M.E. Warner (Tamara Tunie), so at least that should be fun.

In far more exciting news, Jack McCoy is back!

Sam Waterston will be appearing in episode 13, incidentally the same episode which will introduce the new ADA played by Chicaco Justice's Philip Winchester. Waterston will only make one guest appearance, but Winchester will join the main cast as Peter Stone, the son of old school Mothership character Ben Stone, who was Jack McCoy's predecessor.

ONTD, did you watch last night's totally unpredictable conclusion to the Grandma Brooke Shields storyline? Were you surprised by the identity of Noah's kidnapper? Or were you expecting it, because you read all my previous posts in which I predicted every single thing that happened, literally months in advance? Because I have actually watched television before?

Who was your breakout movie star this year, ONTD?

Cate Blanchett named Cannes Jury President for the 2018 Cannes Film Festival

$

  • Jury presidents are usually directors, the last actor to serve as president was Robert DeNiro in 2011

  • Recent Jury presidents include Jane Campion, George Miller, Pedro Almodóvar, Tim Burton, Steven Spielberg and Joel and Ethan Coen

  • Blanchett will lead a jury composed of 8 other artistic professionals who will watch the films that are in official competition and award the main competitive awards including the prestigious Palme d'or

  • I have been to Cannes in many guises over the years; as an actress, producer, in the marketplace, the Gala-sphere and in Competition, but never solely for the sheer pleasure of watching the cornucopia of films this great festival harbours. I am humbled by the privilege and responsibility of presiding over this year's jury. This festival plays a pivotal role in bringing the world together to celebrate story; that strange and vital endeavour that all peoples share, understand and crave.

Masaki Ito, a spokesman for the Yamanashi prefectural police were interested in speaking to Youtuber Logan Paul as a 'suicide may be involved'. Human garbage Paul posted a video, which saw him laughing and joking with his friends, before filming the dead man.

Paul said, "I didn't do it for the views... I did it because I thought I could make a positive ripple on the internet, not cause a monsoon of negativity".

Paul's brother has tried to deflect by posting raunchy content on his youtbe channel but failed. Logan Paul has tweeted that he would stop posting vlogs for awhile but there is no bouncing back from this BOY BYE!

Japanese Prank/Game Show brings in the New year with the Blackface

well loved Japanese comedy show Gaki no Tsukai/"No Laughing" New years special that has been airing for 13 years decided to spicing things up with a little black humor.
For No Laugh game 2017, the theme was "No Laughing" American Police", and all 4 Japanese Comedian contestants were in American Sheriff attire except for Hamada, who dressed up as Eddie Murphy's Beverly Hills character, Axel Foley.

A free lance writer for The Japan Times, Baye Mcneil author of "Loco in Yokohama" and "Hi! My Name is Loco and I am a Racist" is no foreigner to this type of behavior in Japanese media. Back in 2015 he launched a campaign to not air a jpop group, Momorio Clover Z and Rats&Star, segment on tv due to the insensitivity of them performing in blackface on Fuji TV, which was successful, yet here we are again.

Baye McNei, who also lives in Japan and was bringing in the New Years watching Gaki no Tsukai, was quick to call out this issue.

Once again, this issue of black face is met with controversy as some users from Japan/Non-Japanese/Weebs have told Baye McNeil that this is just Hamada showing his love and imitation of Eddie Murphy.

and that racism is only an American problem as well as its problems with black face.

But just the same, there have been people calling out this type of behavior both Japanese, and non Japanese alike.

Baye McNeil says he too is conflicted since he knows that their is a naive sense of why these things are done but just the same as he has said in an interview for the Huffington Post Japan, that painting one's skin black for jokes is not funny and that this act affects others. He also worries that if this problem isn't fully addressed now, then these antics may carry into the Tokyo 2020 olympics which would make the world view Japan as a very ignorant country.

Variety & Indiewire make their predictions for the Golden Globes' film winners

$

Variety and Indiewire's predictions of the Golden Globes' film winners:

-- Best Motion Picture – Drama: both have “The Shape of Water” as the winner (since it has the most overall nods)
-- Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy: both list “Lady Bird” but maybe "Get Out" could sweep under to win
-- Best Director:“The Shape of Water”s Guillermo del Toro for both

-- Best Actor - Drama: Variety's going with Timothée Chalamet, “Call Me by Your Name” mainly because the HFPA and Gary Oldman fucking hate each other, while Indiewire actually is calling for Oldman for 'Darkest Hour' to win
-- Best Actress – Drama: both have Frances McDormand, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” listed for this
-- Best Actor – Comedy or Musical: both have James Franco, “The Disaster Artist”
-- Best Actress – Musical or Comedy: this actually got a weird-ass split. Indiewire lists Saorise Ronan from 'Lady Bird', while Variety's going for Margot Robbie, “I, Tonya”???
-- Best Supporting Actor: another split - Indiewire lists frontrunner Willem Dafoe for "The Florida Project," while Variety went with Sam Rockwell, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”
-- Best Supporting Actress: and another split - now Variety lists Laurie Metcalf, “Lady Bird” as the winner, while Indiewire went with Allison Janney for “I, Tonya”
-- Best Screenplay: Variety gunned for Martin McDonagh for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” and Indiewire is behind Greta Gerwig, “Lady Bird”

there's more at the sources, like Coco of course sweeping for animated, and a split for score (between Desplat for 'The Shape of Water' and Zimmer for 'Dunkirk')
