"Game of Thrones" season 4 will cast a new character from "A Dance with Dragons," the fifth book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series written by George R.R. Martin, in order to further develop Theon Greyjoy's storyline in "Game of Thrones" season 4.
WinterIsComing.net reports a spoiler: "Game of Thrones" is once again taking some storyline from "A Dance with Dragons" for Theon Greyjoy's plot development for "Game of Thrones" season 4, which premieres this spring.
According to the CV of British actor Grahame Fox, he'll be playing the role of Kenning in an upcoming episode directed by Alex Graves. In the novel "A Dance with Dragons," Ralf Kenning is an Ironborn captain stationed at Moat Cailin, in a very tense situation, WinterIsComing.net reports. We'll have to wait until "Game of Thrones" season 4 airs before we'll know how and when Theon will encounter the captain and his men.
"Game of Thrones" has previously cast new characters in other storylines, such as Daenerys Targaryen and Bran Stark's, including characters not encountered until the fifth book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series.
According to WinterIsComing.net, Theon Greyjoy disappears from the books for a while, so it comes as no surprise that they're taking bits of his storyline from other books to continue his plot for "Game of Thrones" season 4.
But we're wondering: will there be enough material for Theon next year, if the next book in the series, "The Winds of Winter," isn't released yet by Martin? Let's hope he's almost finished with the fifth book!
Grahame Fox has appeared on programs such as Casualty, Atlantis, Midsomer Murders, and Merlin.
Who has been recast?
Who has been recast?
With filming for Game of Thrones Season 4 underway, we’re getting a look at some of the fresh new faces on board for next season. Not only does the show have its usual gang of all new characters, but this season there are also several characters who have been recast. Let’s take a look at the old roles getting new actors.
Daario Naharis. Several fans thought the appearance of actor Ed Skrein wasn’t quite right for the role. Now it seems Daario fans will get another chance to fall under the sellsword’s spell, as his role will reportedly be filled by Nashville actor Michiel Huisman going forward. Michiel does have more of a Daarioish look, since he can grow a beard and looks like he could maybe win a fight or two, but is it wise for the show to re=cast such a big role? While Daario isn’t a major character per se, he did have a number of scenes with Dany last season, and their growing chemistry was a big part of her storyline, so it looks like Huisman has some ground to make up for fans to accept him in the role, if the reports of recasting are true.
The Mountain. Another year, another Mountain. Icelandic strongman Thor Bjornsson has been cast in the role of the Hound’s big, bad brother. He is the third to fill the Mountain’s giant shoes, following Conan Stevens in Season 1 and Ian Whyte in Season 2. The character was absent from Season 3, so it’s highly unlikely many fans will be wondering what happened to Ian Whyte when they see Thor next season. While Thor doesn’t really have any acting experience, The Mountain basically just needs to be a monstrous brute, and the 6’9”, 419 lb. strongman seems to fit that description just fine.
Tommen Baratheon. Another character who was absent from Season 3, Joffrey’s little brother has reportedly been recast as well, with actor Dean-Charles Chapman replacing Callum Wharry in the role. Tommen is set to play a much bigger role starting next season. The show's Powers That Be are probably hoping no one notices the difference. Though Chapman is a little older than Wharry, after a season has passed a growth spurt shouldn’t be too shocking (just look at Bran). Coincidentally, Chapman previously played the role of a Lannister on GoT, portraying one of the prisoners slain by Rickard Karstark, though we only expect the most eagle-eyed stalwart fans to notice.
"Game of Thrones" premieres on April 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Until then, HBO will air "Game of Thrones Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing," which will be a 15-minute preview trailer. The preview trailer will air Feb. 9 at 8:45 p.m. ET/PT.
