On October 8, 2013 One Direction fans from all over the world joined together to organize a charity drive for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice in honor of Louis Tomlinson’s 22nd birthday.
Fans of Tomlinson, one-fifth of the boy band, One Direction, decided the perfect 22nd birthday gift would be to band together to raise $22,222 for the organization Tomlinson supports through charity football matches by December 24th.
The donation page received more than $850 in donations within the first 12 hours the site was up, and as of December 21, 2013 they have come together to raise $18,834.34.
Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice supports UK children in South Yorkshire, and the North Midlands with a shortened life expectancy. They provide ongoing medical respite care for the poorly child, practical and emotional support for family members, bereavement support, and end of life care. Fans can donate here.

It's really great to see the fandom doing something so lovely in the face of the usual drama.
