In 2008, The Hills’ Whitney Port moved to New York City with big dreams of becoming a fashion designer. But first, she had to deal with flaky friends, sketchy dudes, and Kelly Cutrone’s biting criticism. Though it only lasted two seasons, MTV’s The City has a special place in our hearts. Find out where Whit and her friends/enemies are today.

Whitney Port

Then: Transplanted from The Hills of Los Angeles to New York City, Whitney Port created her own fashion line, looked for love, and made and lost friends.

Now:
Still coming out with lines every year, Whitney Eve is going strong. So is Whitney’s friendship with Lauren Conrad. The former Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model judge is dating Tim Rosenman, who was a producer on The City. Their relationship began two months after Whitney split with The Buried Life's Ben Nemtin in June 2011. Sadly, the fashion designer lost her father to kidney cancer in March 2013. She opened up to Us Magazine about life after the show: “"You get to hold things sacred and things can be like (she still can't put together a sentence without the word "like") private and intimate," she said. "You don’t have to worry how anyone else is going to perceive it.”

Olivia Palermo

Then: While working at Diane von Furstenberg, Olivia Palermo clashed with co-worker Whitney Port. Later, she moved on to ELLE, where she constantly fought with PR maven Erin Kaplan. At the end of the series, she had just been chosen to be the face of the magazine in their video spots.

Now:
After launching her own website, www.oliviapalermo.com, Olivia remains an “It” girl about town. In 2011, she appeared as a guest judge on Project Runway Season 9. The 27-year-old former model occasionally goes apple picking in Germany with her boyfriend, model and fashion photographer Johannes Huebl. The former Upper East sider now lives in Brooklyn with Johannes. Of her time on The City, Olivia told Page Six Magazine, “it was just ridiculous, it was not me at all.”

Kelly Cutrone

Then: Whit’s boss and mentor, Kelly Cutrone founded PR firm People's Revolution and helped get Whitney Eve off the ground — even if she rolled her eyes a lot.

Now: In 2010, Kelly had her own show, Kell on Earth, on Bravo that we miss every day. As a judge on America's Next Top Model, she’s known as Kelly "Cut-throat" Cutrone. She recently raised eyebrows by saying that women “want to see thin models” and the fashion industry is just giving them what they want. People's Revolution is still operating, but recently pulled out of a New York Fashion Week show less than 24 hours before the designer was set to show his collection.

Jay Lyon

Then: Whit’s Australian boyfriend who modeled and played in the band Tamarama, Jay broke her heart when he abruptly broke up with her before leaving on tour. Afterwards, Whit said of him, “And he was a musician at the time and I think that he was cool with it, who knows his motives? I don't know now. I think he loved it.” what?

Now: You can still see Jay in ads for Jag Jeans. According to their Twitter page, Tamarama has new tunes coming soon.

Erin Lucas

Then: Best known for juggling two guys at once (but not being one of those girls who engages in “awkwardly long stares”) — her boyfriend Duncan and her ex JR — Erin, daughter of AC/DC bass guitarist, Cliff Williams, left The City after Season 1. She supposedly had a falling out with former roommate Whit.

Now: Currently living in Los Angeles, Erin has resumed hosting duties. Before The City, she worked MTVU, and she now hosts for Inside Beautiful. She’s also engaged to Angus Edward.

Roxy Olin

Then: After constantly fighting with roommate/co-worker Whitney (the fashion designer accused her friend of not doing her job by ensuring musician Lights wore a Whitney Eve jacket during her set at a fashion show), Roxy moved out of their apartment.

Now: The daughter of actors Ken Olin and Patricia Wettig, Roxy was simultaneously doing The City and Brothers and Sisters. It looks like she’s still acting, as she had a role on the short-lived Mob Doctor and is currently working on the upcoming TV show Sleepy Hollow. According to her Twitter, she blames her dramatic weight loss on a rough breakup.

Samantha Swetra

Then: Whitney’s good pal and Bergdorf Goodman buyer Samantha Swetra was always there for her friend, whether she needed to get in to a fashion show or needed relationship advice.

Now: At 27, Samantha is still in the fashion business, working at an account executive at Roberto Cavalli. Though she’s still friends with Whit, much of the former reality star’s time is taken up by her 4-month old daughter, Teigen. In September, she’ll head to France to marry her fiancé. Another random fact? Boardwalk Empire actress Paz de la Huerta pled guilty to harassing Samantha after an incident at a Manhattan hotel.

Erin Kaplan

Then: ELLE magazine’s youngest Director of Public Relations, Erin Kaplan was constantly exasperated with Olivia Palermo.

Now: Much like on The City, everything with Erin is work, work, work. In January 2011, she left ELLE to join Teen Vogue as Senior Director of Public Relations. You can tell she’s good at her job, because she doesn’t tweet anything about her personal life. Just call her Enigma Erin.

Allie Crandell

Then: In Season 1 of The City, Allie, known as Adam’s girlfriend, was told her boyfriend had kissed another girl — by the girl he kissed. Whitney’s boss, Kelly Cutrone, also expressed concern over Allie’s weight, saying she was “so skinny” and would help her if she needed it.

Now: Having ditched Adam for the man she says she’s going to marry, Devin Leahy, Allie seems much happier. She’s also still modeling, most recently for Otis & Maclain. In 2010, she caused controversy on Revolve Clothing’s site with her thin frame. The company promised not to use her as a model until she gained weight.
