After months of anticipation and speculation over casting for the film adaptation, fans of "Fifty Shades of Grey" have entered the next phase: the backlash.
On Monday (Sept. 2), it was revealed that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson had earned the lead roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, respectively, in the adaptation of the EL James novel -- news that wasn't universally celebrated.
A petition surfaced on Change.org demanding a reconsideration of the principal cast. Entitled "We want Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele on 50 Shades," the petition has earned an impressive 11,520 signatures as of press time.
Bomer and Bledel had been fan favorites for the lead roles for some time, though it's unclear whether either were ever really in consideration for the film.
