MPAA Says The Violence In Eli Roth’s Green Infero Is “Aberrant”

Eli Roth's new movie (finally!) has earned itself an R rating from the MPAA, and as they do they have listed the reasons for their decision:

Rated R for aberrant violence and torture, grisly disturbing images, brief graphic nudity, sexual content, language and some drug use.

Clearly this tells you whether or not TheGreen Inferno is for you. As a dyed-in-the-wool fan of Italian cannibal movies, this is the second best news I could have gotten about the film (best would have been the movie going out unrated, but let's be realistic. That's for the home video release).

The movie will premiere at TIFF's Midnight Madness, and their blog makes a salient observation about Eli Roth's evolution:

Check out Roth's past MPAA scorecards. His violence started as "strong," then went to "brutal," then "sadistic," and finally to The Green Inferno's particularly evocative "aberrant." That's called "growing as a filmmaker."

Aberrant violence! It's like the MPAA is doing marketing now.
