We thought Wendy Williams called the shots on her show — but turns out her husband is pulling the strings.

On “The Wendy Williams Show,” she is a strong, confident woman who isn’t afraid of saying exactly what’s on her mind — even if it’s dissing Beyoncé. But off camera, her husband, Kevin Hunter, is the real boss, our source says.

“Kevin makes all the decisions and has become more and more controlling as the show has become a success,” one show insider tells Confidenti@l. “He insists that all show questions be run by him.”

Hunter has had Williams change her cell phone number so she is not as accessible to the many staffers on the show.

“He’s also hired her a new driver, who reports to him,” says our source.

Both Williams and Hunter, who formed the production company Wendy Williams Productions together, serve as executive producers on the show, which has been on the air since 2008.

Source says no one can understand why Wendy doesn't tell her husband to "f--- off."

Things have gotten so intense at the show that producers have been warned that all scripts must go to Hunter before Williams can even read them. And Hunter must approve all the ideas for segments and celebrity guest bookings.

“Wendy is smart. No one can understand why she does not tell him to f− off,” adds our source. “He is making everyone’s lives miserable and is causing problems on an otherwise great show.”

Our source adds that when Williams made her Broadway debut in “Chicago” this month, he sorted through all the cards and gifts sent to the show and gave her just a portion of them.

“He thinks she is being bothered and thinks he’s looking out for her, but Wendy loves her fans,” says our insider.

Hunter has taken heat for cheating on Williams — though she later publicly forgave him — and allegedly propositioning an employee on his wife’s old radio show.

Once asked during an interview with Bay Area radio station 94.9 about her relationship with her husband, Williams didn’t hold back.

“People will always, for the rest of my life, throw darts at my situation,” she said. “They will throw — and we explained this to our son — they will throw them at him, they’ve thrown them at me in my entire career, my husband. He knew what he was getting involved with, but it takes a special kind of man to be with a ‘Wendy Williams.’”

IT'S HERE! IT'S FINALLY HERE! Wendy Williams released a sneak peak of her new, remixed theme song and accompanying dance video earlier this summer, but the final cut has officially arrived. Williams decided to spice up her theme song and shimmy her way through Central Park in honor of "The Wendy Williams Show's" new season, which starts Monday, September 16.

The video basically starts with a girl who pushes a magical button in the middle of the park that causes dancers to appear out of no where.
But it's not really a party yet, because Wendy's not there. But then she appears!
And everyone is super happy about it.
And scene!

Williams' daytime talk show has been renewed through 2017. The host is currently starring on Broadway as Matron Mama Morton in "Chicago: The Musical."
