Soundscan numbers are officially IN for Ciara‘s self-titled new album, and altogether she has managed to push 59,000 units. This marks a vast improvement from the 37,000 units sold with her last set, 2010′s ‘Basic Instinct’. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 this week, making it her fourth studio album to reach the top three on that tally.
The only album to miss the region was ‘Basic Instinct’, which debuted and peaked at #44. It seems these figures have become standard numbers for a female R&B artist with the exception of heavyweights such as Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, and Mary J. Blige. Although these numbers are nothing to write home about, it’s not all doom and gloom. Ciara’s ‘Body Party’ jumps from #25 to #22 on the Hot 100 this week and she still has the VMAs. That is, if her marketing team actually care enough to guarantee her a performance slot there.
So that's 4,000 copies outside of America
Her album sold 2,300 units in the UK
Which means she sold about 1,700 copies outside of the US and UK
Legend.
