Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, Ben Barnes, and others, including our man Djimon Hounsou, who plays a character named Radu in an 18th century-set adventure story centered on young man (Barnes), who is apprenticed to the local wizard (Bridges) to learn to fight evil spirits. His first great challenge comes when the powerful Mother Malkin (Moore) escapes her confinement while the Wizard is away.
The film, titled Seventh Son (based on the first installment in Joseph Delaney's children's dark fantasy novel series The Wardstone Chronicles, titled The Spook's Apprentice) is directed by Sergey Bodrov.
I couldn't immediately find a description of Radu (the character Hounsou plays) and how involved he is in the story, so those who've read the novel the film is based on can chime in.
The release date for the Legendary Pictures film has been switched multiple times. It was originally scheduled for release on February 22nd, 2013, but got moved back to October 18th, 2013; and was most recently moved again to January 17th, 2014, in 3-D and IMAX 3D of course.
Hounsou's Radu got his very own character poster, which is embedded in full below:
