Idol Judge Mariah Carey spreads glitter and positivity unlike budding rap artist Nicki Minaj
Candice Glover is happy to be in the studio recording her debut album, but she does admit that some of the judge's critiques, including some from Nicki Minaj, left her confused and a little hurt during "American Idol."
Looking back at the season in a recent interview, the "I Am Beautiful" singer said things like "church girl" and marketability type feedback was pretty weird.
Even with that said, Candice Glover was really hurt by Nicki Minaj, who questioned how marketable she would be as an artist and even made a comment about her weight.
"It kind of hurt my feelings when I would hear them say like, 'Oh my gosh. You're so current. I could hear you on the radio today' and then they'd tell me my vocals are cool, but what does marketable mean? What do I need to do? Do I need to lose weight? Should I wear my hair a different way? I really didn't know what to do. And then the next week, when she (Nicki) told me -- "I can now see Candice, a current R&B singer, right now. I don't know if you lost weight, but baby girl you look good.' -- I was confused, but I don't know. It was weird."

It’s been one month since Candice Glover won American Idol, but along with her big win, she’s endured a big loss— weight loss!
The singer, 23, opened up to In Touch at the Women in Film's 2013 Crystal + Lucy Awards on June 12 where she told the mag she’s dropped 20 pounds since her start on the hit singing competition in January.
“I honestly, don't even know what happened,” Candice says of her weight loss. “I think just because I've been running non-stop. I've been trying to eat a little better and I think walking in the airport— I do a lot of walking, so I think that helps out.”
Prior to the show, the South Carolina-native lost 25 pounds and was down an additional ten in the beginning May.
And her slimmed-down frame was even shocking then!
After her performance of "When I Was Your Man" by Bruno Mars on May 1, judge Nicki Minaj said to the hopeful, "I don't know if you lost weight, but baby girl, you look good.”
Soon after, Candice opened up about her new outlook on dieting and why she’s really trying to choose healthier food options… stardom.
"Every time we have a chance to eat, it's like, 'Oh, I'll just eat this burger. I'll just eat it this one time. And then next week I'll get a salad,'” she said. "But you have to put the burger aside and do what you've got to do, because you want to look like a star."
