Billy Ray Cyrus is experiencing an achy break heart all over again.
Nearly three years after the country singer filed divorce papers then changed his mind, his wife Tish has decided to end their marriage.
"This is a personal matter and we are working to find a resolution that is in the best interest of our family. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time," she tells PEOPLE in a statement.
In a separate statement to PEOPLE, Billy Ray says, "This is a personal matter and we are doing what is in the best interest of our family. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time."
Tish is requesting primary physical and legal custody of their daughter, Noah, 13, with visitation for Billy Ray, according to the documents filed Thursday in L.A. Superior Court. Tish is also seeking spousal support and wants the singer to cover her attorney's fees. The couple's date of separation is listed as "to be determined."
The pair's 19-year marriage comes to a rocky end after the pair nearly split in 2010 when Billy Ray filed for divorce.
At the time, the couple released a joint statement, saying "We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers."
But five months later, during an interview on The View, Billy Ray announced that he was withdrawing his petition.
"I want to put my family back together," the singer, 51, said on the show.
Tish expressed her excitement about the reconciliation on her official Facebook page.
"Big thanks to all of our family, friends, and fans who have kept us in their thoughts and prayers," she wrote. "Our family weathered a huge storm and I feel we are stronger than we have ever been."
But there have been hints that the couple's bond has weakened in recent months.
When asked about his relationship with Tish on May 29, Billy Ray told PEOPLE, "We've both been very busy in pursuit of different things we have going on. We're taking it one day at a time."
The pair have five children – including singer Miley Cyrus, 20.
