Uh oh! Could this be the worst intervention ever? TheFIX can exclusively reveal that Britney Spears has reached out to troubled Amanda Bynes.
The pop singer contacted Amanda, 27, a week before her arrest last Thursday, begging her to contact her parents for help.
Our insider claims Britney, 31, has become increasingly concerned about her former close friend Amanda's bizarre behaviour in recent weeks. Well, if there's one girl who knows the inner working of a breakdown, it's Britters.
"Britney had a brief conversation with Amanda the week before her arrest and promised to personally help Amanda get her career back on track by helping her record music," says the source.
"Britney also opened up to Amanda about her painful breakdown and about how she was so against her dad taking out a conservatorship - but she told Amanda that it wound up being a life, career and fortune saver."
In 2008, Britney handed full control of her estate to her father James Spears after suffering a very public breakdown. Her dad still holds full conservatorship five years on.
To refresh your memory, there was the head shaving, paparazzi rants and allegations of heavy drugs use. And now Amanda appears to be following in Britney's path.p>
Now Britney believes former Nickelodeon star Amanda should sit down with her parents and hand over control to her parents.
“Britney has known Amanda casually for a few years but lost touch with her in 2011 after Amanda started going off the rails,” says a source.
“Brit was able to get Amanda's cell phone from her parents, whom she contacted first to offer support and guidance. Brit and her dad have provided Amanda's parents with details about how a conservatorship works."
A source close to Britney also said she's struggled to contact Amanda since her arrest in New York. However, the source added, "Britney promised to stick by Amanda through her recovery and not ditch her - as so many celeb friends did to Brit when she broke down.”
We hold little hope of Amanda getting in contact with her parents though…especially as she cut them out of her life last month. Yowser!
