Up until today it was still unclear if NBC would be able to negotiate a deal to have Mariska Hargitay’s famous SVU character return for another season (this upcoming season will be the 15th). It was Mariska herself that helped break the news of her appending return stating on Twitter, “Happy weekend. It’s official. Season 15–I’LL BE BACK!” This comes just a few days after the final episode of season 14, the episode ended with the possibility of Hargitay to return left open, though she was being held at gunpoint.
Ever since the departure of Christopher Meloni the show has seen countless rumors that it may be canceled, but fans still tune in for every episode to catch up on Hargitay and her team. The show has seen some ratings fall-short of its earlier progress, but being in its 15th season and holding a 2.1 rating with adults 18-49 on a Wednesday is nothing to scoff at. The show is expected to return to the same date and time on NBC this fall.
