In posting her eighth leader, she passes Maroon 5 and Katy Perry for the most No. 1s in the chart's 17-year history.

P!nk rewrites the record for the most No. 1s in the 17-year history of Billboard's Nielsen BDS-based Adult Pop Songs radio airplay chart, as "Just Give Me a Reason," featuring fun.'s Nate Ruess, rises 2-1 to become her eighth leader on the list. She passes Maroon 5 and Katy Perry, each with seven No. 1s. P!nk also moves ahead of Maroon 5 for the most consecutive No. 1s (five) in the survey's archives; Maroon 5 has reigned with its last four singles.

The coronation of "Reason," which pushes 3-2 on Pop Songs and 24-15 on Adult Contemporary and has spent the past two weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, follows the No. 1 ascent of P!nk's prior single "Try" on AC two weeks ago. Both songs appear on P!nk's sixth studio album, "The Truth About Love," which became her first Billboard 200 No. 1 in September.

P!nk's dominations at adult radio reflect her evolution, as she first drew chart ink the week of Feb. 5, 2000, when her debut single "There You Go" debuted simultaneously on Dance/Club Play Songs and Rhythmic. She didn't notch her first Adult Pop Songs No. 1 until 2007, when "Who Knew" reached the summit. Prior release "U + Ur Hand" had become her first top 10 at the format earlier that year.

"I've been lucky enough to work with P!nk and her manager, Roger Davies, since 2004," RCA executive VP/GM Joe Riccitelli says. "P!nk achieving her first AC No. 1 [and rewriting the Adult Pop Songs No. 1s record] is satisfying, while we obviously want to not lose focus of her young-end appeal and continued success at pop radio."

"Radio has been an amazing partner in helping further Pink's stardom with her latest album," Adrian Moreira, RCA senior VP of promotion, adds. "She's proven that her appeal is not relegated to any one format, genre or demo."

Here's a recap of P!nk's record eight Adult Pop Songs No. 1s:

2007, "Who Knew" (one week at No. 1)
2008, "So What" (one)
2009, "Sober" (one)
2011, "Raise Your Glass" (seven)
2011, "F**kin' Perfect" (seven)
2012, "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" (five)
