Source: Reese Witherspoon Did Not Pull The Don't-You-Know-Who-I-Am Card

News of Reese Witherspoon getting arrested was shocking, but what may have surprised fans even more was what the sweet, Southern mom of three reportedly said to police officers.

According to the police report, "Mrs. Witherspoon asked, 'Do you know my name?' I answered, 'No, I don't need to know your name.' I then added, 'Right now.' Mrs. Witherspoon stated, 'You're about to find out who I am'."

But a source tells E! News that the star insists it didn't exactly go down like people think.

"It wasn't like that," the source said, and explained that when the officer was handcuffing her, Witherspoon simply asked, "Do you know my name?"  as in "Don't you need to know my name?"

The source also added that there was no screaming or any sort of physical altercation between Witherspoon and the officer. "She was being protective of her husband and was fearful of the situation," they tell us.

Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth were arrested and jailed early Friday morning in Atlanta for an alleged DUI and disorderly conduct, after getting pulled over under suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Around 3:30 a.m. the same day, the couple were released on bond. A court date has been scheduled for Monday at 8 a.m. in Atlanta Municipal Court.

But you wouldn't know the duo had any trouble this weekend by looking at them. The couple seemed more than fine, as witnessed by this photograph of them leaving their New York City hotel earlier today to attend Reese's premiere for Mud.
