If you've been watching ABC's Happy Endings-- hold up, if you haven't been watching it, get off this page right now and actually watch it or we can't be friends anymore.
That's better.
You might have noticed that Max (Adam Pally) on Happy Endings has been in need of a makeover lately. Maybe his breakup with Grant last season hit him harder than he can acknowledge, and subconsciously he's down on himself, because we can't fathom how else to explain his ever-growing hair. But in a way we're glad he let himself go because it paved the way for the show to bring in the very fabulous guest star of RuPaul!
"Max is having hair trouble this year. He’s having trouble finding a style that suits him. Also, he’s too lazy and poor to afford a cut, so he goes to Jane and Alex’s stylist, and they hit it off, and I think that will probably be Max’s stylist from now on," Pally said when LA TV Insider Examiner was on set.
RuPaul is KrisJahn, the stylist who Max goes to in "The Incident" when his own attempt at a makeover turns him into the kind of guy who would Catfish you. Seriously, check out the clip to the left to know why we say that. But the bromance that forms is about so much more than just a haircut, as KrisJahn's "loose lips" spill great salon gossip.
What Max learns starts off small (Jane thinks Alex is a flake, yada yada) but very quickly becomes more serious (Alex thinks Jane is only into black guys because of how she lost her virginity, etc). In true Max fashion, he uses that to his advantage with his friends, (un?)intentionally starting World War III between the Kerkovich sisters.
The gossip Max comes back with is enough to send the sisters into a verbal catfight, airing each others' dirty laundry, that gets so bad, one sister actually yells at the other "You were born a man!" Want to take any guesses as to who says that?
Although RuPaul has a penchant for humor, and the show itself is a timeless comedy created to make its audience feel good, filming "The Incident" came with its own special set of drama (don't read that in a Derrick voice because it was actually very serious, you guys). Pally shared with us that that his big scene with RuPaul had to be done with the news of Newtown's shooting breaking as they were doing takes(OMG). Crew members were constantly checking their phones, updating everyone on set with what was happening, which added a challenge to Pally and RuPaul being silly and over the top. Through it all, though, Pally said RuPaul couldn't have been nicer or more professional, and we hope that means he will get to shantay and stay the stylist to all of the characters, hopefully to return in a future episode!
Happy Endings airs on ABC on Friday nights at 8 and 8:30 p.m. "The Incident" air on April 5 2013 in the earlier part of the hour.
