‘The Musketeers’ is a BBC1 production that will be aired in 2014. The 10 episode miniseries is being co-produced with BBC America, following in the footsteps of Ripper Street, currently showing in the U.S and recently commissioned for a second season.

Today the BBC announced who will be cast in the main roles. For the principal role of D’Artagnan, Luke Pasqualino (The Borgias) has been chosen, with Tom Burke (Great Expectations) as Athos, Santiago Cabrera (Merlin) as Aramis and Howard Charles (Royal Shakespeare Company) as Porthos completing the group of four friends.
The rest of the impressive ensemble includes; Peter Capaldi (The Thick of It) as the evil Cardinal Richelieu, Tamla Kari (The Inbetweeners Movie) as Constance Bonacieux, Maimie McCoy (Loving Miss Hatto) as Milady De Winter, and Hugo Speer (Bedlam) as Monsieur de Treville.
