It's that time of the year again, folks! Newspapers are starting to publish their "top books of 2015" lists, so here's a little round-up of some of the more notable lists so far:
Includes:
- The Complete Stories (Clarice Lispector)
- The Fifth Season (NK Jemisin)
- God Help the Child (Toni Morrison)
- A Litte Life (Hanya Yanagihara)
- Guantánamo Diary (Mohamedou Ould Slahi)
The Guardian asked authors what their favourite books of 2015 were:
- Margaret Atwood liked My Life on the Road by Gloria Steinem
- Hanya Yanagihara liked The Buried Giant (Kazuo Ishiguro)
- Kate Mosse liked I Call Myself a Feminist (various)
- Paula Hawkins and Marian Keys liked A God in Ruins (Kate Atkinson)
The Financial Times divided their list into sections like science, history, cinema, art, YA, children's, fiction in translation, food, sport and even gardens. No romance, though!
The Washington Post actually made several lists: 10 best (above); notable fiction; notable nonfiction; best sci-fi/fantasy; mystery/thriller; etc (the romance list sucks IMO)
