The boy band, who finished fourth in the last series of the X Factor, signed a record deal with Sony at the end of last year.  Taking to Twitter last night, the boys revealed that they would be going into the studio on Monday.  They tweeted:“Recording or first single on Monday! So sorry Belfast but we have to change the gig date, things are moving so fast for us! We'll be back! X”

Following the X Factor Union J went on the charm offensive across the country, performing a number of gigs.  The band then took a well deserved break over the festive period to recover from a somewhat hectic year.  George Shelley, 19, admitted that it was nice to take some time out to simply relax.  He said: “It’s been nice to have some family time, we’ve been in a bubble for three months.”  The boys are now however back together and ready to try and make 2013 their year.

Meanwhile X Factor winner James Arthur, 24, hit a landmark total of sales this week with his debut single ‘Impossible.’ The singer has now shifted over 1 million copies of the song since it was released five weeks ago.  Pretty impressive stuff.  James has also finalised his winner’s deal with Simon Cowell owned record label Syco, meaning that he is now able to get to work on his debut album.  Speaking about the deal, James admitted: "I am thrilled to be part of the Syco family, working with Simon and his team is exactly where I want to be.   I can't wait to get into the studio to start work on my record!"

Fellow finalists Ella Henderson and Jahmene Douglas have also landed themselves record deals since leaving the show.  It looks like 2013 is going to be a HUGE year for the X Factor alumni of 2012.
