Azealia Banks has said that she is "really not as moved" as people expect her to be over her use of the word "f*ggot".

The rapper directed the slur at gossip columnist Perez Hilton and was later condemned by Scissor Sisters star Jake Shears and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).

In a burst of messages after the initial tweets, Banks defended her use of the word, while also apologizing to those "indirectly offended" by it.

"My most sincere apologies to anyone who was indirectly offended by my foul language. Not sorry for Perez tho. Lol," she said. She added: "Unpleasant meddling woman = bitch, unpleasant meddling man = Perez Hilton.

"Really not as moved by this f word thing as u all want me to be. As a bisexual person I knew what I meant when I used that word. And I meant what I meant when I used that word. You human beings have bigger life problems then (sic) what I think about some played out gossip dude....."

Banks also retweeted several messages of support from her fans, including those who noted that Hilton himself used the word "f*ggot" to insult Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am in 2009.

"I don't need to respect you, and you're a f*g. You're gay, and stop being such a f*ggot," said Hilton following a confrontation with the musician.

Hilton was criticized by GLAAD and although he initially argued that the pressure group owed him an apology, he later apologized for his use of the slur.
