Tom Hiddleston on who he'd like to meet at SDCC 2015:“I’m sorry I missed Bill Murray. I heard he was here the other day. I’ve never met Bill Murray and I’d like to; I think he’s a fairly cool cat.”
Tom on the Star Wars cast:“It’d be pretty cool to meet those guys, wouldn’t it? The original trio.”
Tom on potentially being cast in any upcoming Star Wars movies (lol):“[laughs] I don’t know about that. But we’ll see.”
Jessica Chastain loves cosplay“But I’ve been told, in the convention center, that’s where I’m going to find my people." She also thought about going incognito in costume; “Princess Leia in the outfit with Jabba the Hutt. With the neck-chain and the bikini, yes! That or Brienne of Tarth, but I’m not very tall, so that could be a problem. I’d have to wear stilts.”
Jessica is a total fangirl:“Game of Thrones, Star Wars… Outlander, I’m a new fan of that show. Have you seen it? The first season — that is a hot show. The end of the second season was tough on me, I was not expecting that journey to happen. I have complicated emotions.” (don't we all...)
Mia Wasikowska on working with GDT:“He makes you feel really at ease, and wants you to feel like you own your character and that your opinion is important.”
Jessica on preparing for Crimson Peak: del Toro wrote a 10-page-long character biography for her and she says “And at a rehearsal with Tom and Guillermo in London where we had our biographies and we were talking through them and reading them, I asked him [Tom] and said, ‘Please don’t read anything in your biography that you wouldn’t let your sister know. I only want to know things that Lucille would know. Keep your secrets.'”
Panel highlights:
GDT wanted "classic" and "artistic": Crimson Peak will be a classic gothic romance with no twists that don't fit the temporal setting or the style of the movie. "I'm very very happy to say that I felt for the first time completely free to make an adult movie in the English language. And I hope you guys enjoy the hell out of it."
No change in Thomas Sharpe's character after Benedict Cumberbatch was replaced by the superior Tom Hiddleston: GDT says he didn't rewrite the role or tailor it to Tom at all.
Tom Hiddleston as a Hall H legend: GDT joked that no one should cheer for Tom when he comes out (they did and very, very loudly) and as they left, Tom came back to the mic and said "I love you all," to which the host Chris Hardwick (The Nerdist) added "And now you're all pregnant. That's how that works. Enjoy your Hiddlebabies."
New footage and a Crimson Peak horror maze: GDT showed new footage of the film, then revealed Universal Studios is creating a Crimson Peak maze for their Haunted Horror Nights in the fall! Watch the video of the announcement:
