Call them gorgeous and perhaps overpaid, but let's not forget that at the end of the day, actors are still employees. And some certainly perform better than others.
While many a movie star is remembered for being "box office poison," failing to earn a studio or production company their salaries back in box office sales, the folks at Forbes have compiled a list of celebs who consistently produce gold.
Oscar winner Natalie Portman tops the list, returning an average of $42.70 for every $1 she's paid. Credit the phenomenon of 2011's awards hit "Black Swan," made for just $13 million and earning $329 million in domestic and international sales. That's a lot of tutus.
The list was calculated using Forbes' Celebrity 100 index and receipts from Box Office Mojo over the last three films from a given star – like "Twilight Saga" queen Kristen Stewart, who clocked in at number two.
Stewart brings in a reported $40.60 for every $1 placed in her Balenciaga wallet, thanks to the juggernaut conclusions to the vampire franchise "Breaking Dawn" parts 1 and 2. Stewart also performed an impressive feat in launching "Snow White and the Huntsman," co-starring Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron. She's already confirmed for a sequel.
Though former "Transformers" headliner Shia LaBeouf rounds out the top three, Forbes makes an interesting note about his earning potential in lists to come. The actor, who rates $35.80 on the dollar, has been more than vocal about his desire to step away from blockbuster films like Michael Bay's explosive fare and move into a more independent genre – not your typical lucrative popcorn flick.
Other bold-named boys who appear on the list include Robert Pattinson (#4) and Daniel Radcliffe (#5).
