Between his missile threats and human rights violations, it's hard to tell why so many people voted North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to be Time magazine's person of the year.

Internet forum 4Chan hacked TIME's web site and rigged the results to give the supreme leader 5.6 million votes for TIME's person of the year, the magazine's venerable honor usually reserved for leaders and visionaries.

Thanks to Internet forum 4Chan hacked TIME's web site and rigged the results to give the supreme leader 5.6 million votes for person of the year, the magazine's venerable honor usually reserved for leaders and visionaries

'While we don’t make our selection based on the poll results,' says TIME executive editor Radhika Jones. 'It’s always interesting to see where some of our preferred candidates end up.'

According to TIME, 4Chan hacked in and manipulated the results to read 'KJU GAS CHAMBERS,' a reference to Adolph Hitler (TIME's person of the year in 1938).
Other people on the list included The Daily Show's Jon Stewart, Undocumented Immigrants, Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas, Burmese leaders Aung San Suu Kyi and Thein Sein, and Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi

The largest number of “no way” votes went to Morsi.

South Korean pop star Psy, ('Gangnam Style') and the most watched video in YouTube tied at 17.
