The 18-year-old model has been a bit under fire for posting a fun video on Instagram earlier this week with her friend Ashley Skye. During their drive around town in heavy traffic, the two burst out into song and a little dance to Avril Lavigne‘s “Sk8er Boi”.
“being uber girly w/ @ashleysky,” Kendall captioned along with it.
Being a Kardashian-Jenner girl doesn't always have its perks. While climbing the modeling ladder, Kendall Jenner, 18, found that some top designers wouldn't take her seriously because of her time on Keeping Up With the Kardashians and her family's reputation in the media.
"I was like, 'You know what? I want to be high fashion. I want to be taken seriously ... People think that [success] just came to me. But it didn't," she told Love Magazine (via The Cut) in her July 28 cover story. "What I have has almost worked against me. I had to work even harder to get where I wanted because people didn't take me seriously as a model. Because of the TV show. I went on castings and some people weren't feeling me because of my name. But it was great when people didn't recognize me. I was like, 'Thank you. Please don't recognize me.'"
The model, who has her own PacSun collection with her younger sister Kylie Jenner, eventually worked her way up, walking in the Marc Jacobs show during New York Fashion Week and the Chanel shows during both the winter and summer Paris Fashion Weeks.
"Chanel! I did Chanel? That's not, like, normal," she exclaimed while reflecting on the experiences.
Jenner also got her own spread on Vogue.com and posed in a recent Givenchy campaign in June. Though her family celebrates her success, she prefers they do so away from the runaway.
"Kim was invited to a lot of the shows that I was in," she said of her older half-sister. "She called me before and was like, 'Hey, I was invited to the show, I just wanted to let you know. Do you want me to come?' and I was like, 'No.'"
