HOW about this for a random rumour - Avril Lavigne is reportedly being lined-up to join The X Factor as the fifth judge.

It had been thought Rita Oral would take up a seat alongside Simon Cowell, Cherry Cole, Louis Walsh and Mel C- as the mentor of a new wildcard category, but it looks like she’s facing competition from the Complicated hitmaker.
Grungy Avril’s agents apparently got in contact with Simon after claims a fifth judge would join the show during the live stages to put her name forward.
Talk about shameless.
“It was understood an international female singer’s management has contacted the producers asking if they could be considered for the role,” a telly source said.
‘No one knows who it is as since the leak about the fifth judge, everything is very strict. Only a select few people know.
“But the general feeling behind-the-scenes is that it’s Avril Lavigne,” they told Metro.

Rita’s name has been in the frame since news of the fifth judge leaked, but the insider added she is still to have a screen test with the other judges.
She was previously linked to a judging role after she impressed as a guest judge in 2012.
X Factor’s new wildcard category is said to be made up of one failed act from each of the Boys, Girls, Over 25s and Groups.
The identity of the fifth judge is expected to be officially revealed in September, as filming for the judges’ houses round gets underway.
