Ed Sheeran tops 1Xtra's Power List for black and urban artists

Ed Sheeran has topped 1Xtra's Power List to find the most important and influential artists in contemporary black and urban music. BBC 1Xtra breakfast show hosts Twin B and Yasmin Evans revealed the list this morning (July 11).

Sheeran beat Disclosure, Rudimental and Rita Ora to the top spot. 1Xtra listeners submitted suggestions before a panel of BBC 1Xtra DJs and industry experts together voted on the list.

Sheeran spoke to Twin B and Yasmin Evans during the show, saying: "Thank you so much guys, you guys are legends!" His second studio album, x, became the UK's fastest-selling album of 2014 upon its release in June. The album reached number one in the UK and US charts.

Sheeran recently wowed the crowd at Glastonbury festival with a stripped back set.
