NO LEATHER SUITS?When Bryan Singer's original X-Men hit theaters in 2000, the fan response was somewhat mixed to the lack of some of the characters' iconic costumes, opting instead for matching black leather uniforms. James Marsden's Cyclops even offers the in-joke to Wolverine at one point, "What would you prefer? Yellow spandex?"
Today, those who do prefer yellow spandex may be getting their wish. Singer took to Twitter earlier this evening with the following post:

Scheduled for release on July 18, 2014, X-Men: Days of Future Past boasts a script by Simon Kinberg and is said to be inspired Chris Claremont and John Byrne's comic book storyline that ran in Uncanny X-Men #141 and 142 back in 1981. "Days of Future Past" introduced the idea of an alternate future for Marvel's mutants that grew out of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants killing an important senator, leading to a future where all mutants are hunted by Sentinels.
Along with Matthew Vaughn, Singer produced last year's X-Men: First Class which, set in the 1960's, offered school uniforms a bit more in line with the classic, colorful designs.

Fox insiders tell us that the script for the next X-Men film Days of Future Past did not change because of The Avengers - and we already knew the studio has wanted to tackle that particular comic book tale since at least 2005, hence the nod towards it in the Danger Room sequence of 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand.
But it's clear that the studio now has an eye on the bigger picture of an ongoing franchise rather than focusing only on one film at a time (and risking a much looser continuity).
Bryan Singer - who's now directing the X-Men sequel after Vaughn stepped back to a producer role - has previously spoken of new efforts to create a shared cinematic universe and this was confirmed when comic book scribe Mark Millar was appointed creative consultant.
So where exactly are we heading? Millar gives some clues on the expanded universe now being developed by the studio.
He says Fox will begin to unfold its plans for a more coherent franchise starting with its next release, The Wolverine, due out in July 2013. That will serve as the first step in the road ahead, much like Iron Man was for the newborn Marvel Studios back in 2008.
Millar told Comic Book Resources: "I didn't work on The Wolverine in a direct sense. There were about two months of shooting done when I got this job, but I've got a couple of ideas from it. I wasn't involved in that screenplay - though I read it and loved it. But the thing is, I felt like Iron Man was really the beginning of something for the Marvel Studios movies, and The Wolverine will be a similar starting point to build a lot off of for the Fox movies."
He added: "There's an amazing amount of potential in the X-Men universe. It's almost a Marvel Universe in itself in that you can build up to so many great stories and so many great characters. I hesitate to name names, but let's say that all the ones you like and everyone you'd expect, we'll have them. It's insane to have the crown jewel and not expect to wear them.
"You have to remember that Fox grabbed the X-Men back in the 90s because it was the biggest franchise in the world. So X-Force or Cable or Deadpool - all these amazing characters are things we haven't really gotten to yet.

awfully disappointed to hear Matthew Vaughn wouldn’t be directing X-Men: Days of Future Past, we’re really starting to warm up to the idea of having Bryan Singer back in the director’s chair. Even though X-Men: First Class was incredible, X-Men and X2 were actually really good as well.Plus, it looks like Bryan Singer is really taking an active role in getting the picture moving forward sooner rather than later. Singer has started communicating updates about the movie via Twitter, which is always a good move in helping to win over fanboys.
In his first tweet, Bryan Singer revealed that pre-production had already begun on X-Men: Days of Future Past. Now, Singer has revealed what looks to be the filming location for the movie. Singer tweeted, “Scout went well. Looks like Montreal it is.”
But that’s not all. Singer also tweeted “My office. Late night script session with Simon Kinberg.” Along with the tweet came this picture of Simon Kinberg hard at work on the screenplay. Kinberg seems to be enjoying himself which is a good sign. Hey, is that a picture of the original X-Men cast on the coffee table in front of him. Maybe, it’s there as a little source of inspiration?

THE WOLVERINE NEWSA more detailed synopsis has been released for The Wolverine, revealing that the metal-clawed mutant will face his 'ultimate nemesis' as well as an inner struggle with the immortality that results from his regenerative powers.
The film hits cinemas on July 25, 2013, with the Fox creative consultant Mark Millar saying it will be the equivalent of Marvel's Iron Man, by launching a new 'shared universe' for the studio's superhero projects in the same way that Robert Downey Jr's film began paving the way towards The Avengers.
The new plot description from 20th Century Fox reads: "Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern-day Japan.
"Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed.
"Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before."
Villains in the movie will include Silver Samurai, played by Will Yun Lee , and Viper, played by Svetlana Khodchenkova.

Famke Janssen is rumoured to have filmed a cameo as Jean Grey. That seems likely to feature in a dream, hallucination or memory sequence because the character died in X-Men: The Last Stand and we know the main events of The Wolverine take place after that film.Clik here to view.
