Netflix has renewed Kiefer Sutherland's political thriller Designated Survivor for a 3rd season consisting of 10 episodes.
The show aired on ABC for 2 seasons.
In season 3, President Kirkman (Sutherland) will face a political reality… campaigning. What does it take to make a leader? What price will he be willing to pay? This season will explore today's world of campaigning, smear tactics, debates, campaign finance and "fake news.” Democracy, as we know it, will hang in the balance.
Season 3 will got into production later this year and air sometime in 2019
Netflix previously also saved Lucifer, which was cancelled by FOX after 3 seasons.

Rebecca Ferguson is in talks to star in the upcoming 'Dune' adaptation, which already stars Timothée Chalamet in the lead role of Paul Atreides.

The 34 year old actress will be playing the on-screen mother of the 22 year old actor for the feature, set to begin production early next year. 'Blade Runner' director Denis Villeneuve will helm this reboot. Here's a summary of the story:

Chalamet is playing Paul Atreides, the son of the ruler of the family, who is forced to escape into the desert wastelands and partner with its nomadic tribes. Using enhanced mental abilities, he eventually rises to become their ruler, with the nomads believing he is their messiah, and leads an army to overthrow the empire.

Ferguson will play Lady Jessica, who escapes with her son to help him find his way in being a messiah? She'll next to be seen in the latest 'Men In Black'.

The Academy of Motion Pictures has announced this year's recipients for Honorary Oscars. They are:

-- Actress Cicely Tyson. Her sole Oscar nomination came in 1972 for her lead role in Sounder. She has been acting since the mid-1950s with 100 credits in film, TV, and theater to her name. She has received 3 Emmys and a Tony Award.

-- Composer Lalo Schifrin. Best known for scoring Cool Hand Luke and creating the theme for Mission Impossible. Schifrin has received 6 Oscar nominations and has composed for over 100 films.

-- Publicist Marvin Levy. The first publicist to ever be awarded an Honorary Oscar. Best known for working with Steven Spielberg on every movie he's ever done since Close Encounters.

-- Producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall. The duo will receive the Irving G Thalberg Award for their producing work. It's the first time the award has been presented since 2010. Kennedy becomes the first woman to receive the Thalberg. The duo has produced 4 Best Picture nominees together, and another 5 separately.

The Governors Awards will be held on November 18.

-Steven Wilder Striegell, 47, didn’t have a big role in his longtime friend Shane Black’s reboot of the sci-fi thriller — just a three-page scene shared with actress Olivia Munn

-Last month, Munn learned that Striegel is a registered sex offender who pleaded guilty in 2010 after facing allegations that he attempted to lure a 14-year-old female into a sexual relationship via the internet. After informing Twentieth Century Fox, the studio executives excised him from the movie

-Striegel served six months in jail after pleading guilty to two felonies — risk of injury to a child and enticing a minor by computer

-Director Shane Black defended his decision to cast Striegel:
“I personally chose to help a friend,” Black said in a written statement to The Times. “I can understand others might disapprove, as his conviction was on a sensitive charge and not to be taken lightly.” But he said he has long believed that Striegel was “caught up in a bad situation versus something lecherous.”

-The source goes into detail about the charges against Striegel, but to quickly summarize: the child was a family member of his who had problems that led to a poor self-esteem, and Striegel emailed her about his sexual preferences in graphic detail (which included fantasies of sexual intercourse with the minor) in order to ~boost her self-confidence. An arrest warrant affidavit alleges physical contact including "kissing, touching Doe’s breast over her clothing, rubbing her legs and stroking her neck” on several occasions.

In an interview promoting her Crazy Rich Asians movie, Michelle Yeoh was asked about her thoughts on Gunn's firing.

"I was shocked, horrified that we can allow something like that to happen. You’re talking about things that he said in the archives. If he had said it yesterday, or today, or something like this then you can make a big fuss but why dig up something now? I don’t understand at all. It’s so unnecessary, what good does it do? ...Let’s support James Gunn, he’s such an amazing, incredible filmmaker and human being. We will fight on. You can’t keep a good guy down, that’s what I believe."

Yeoh had a cameo in Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as Aleta Ogord.

*Last night, while BET was airing part 2 of their Bobby Brown biopic, Bobby's sister Leolah took to Facebook to make an epic rant against the film and more specifically Bobby's current wife Alicia

*Leolah took issue with how Alicia--who was a producer on the film--was portrayed as a loving wife who accepted Bobby's family.

*The rant included accusations of denying Bobby access to his kids, denying Bobby's late mother money for her medications, and watching Bobby while he sleeps, among other things. Oh, and also trying to kill him. It was a lot to unpack.

*She also threatened to make her own version of the Bobby Brown story to tell the truth.

An inquest revealed the cause of death for The Cranberries singer, Dolores O'Riordan on what would've been the singer's 47th birthday.

Dawn Wells played wholesome country girl Mary Ann on Gilligan's Island from 1964 to 1967. Unfortunately, Wells lost her life savings in the 2008 banking crash and has since been beset by health problems and numerous surgeries that have left her $194,000 in debt to hospitals and the IRS.

Now 79, Wells recently broke her knee and needs to be moved from the assisted living facility where she currently lives to one that better suits her needs, but they won't take her because of her debt. Her longtime friend, Dugg Kirkpatrick, started a 'Help Dawn Wells' GoFundMe page to raise the money to get her out of debt, apparently without her knowledge. It has already raised $66,000 $100,000 of the $180,000 goal.

Wells' rep said "She was caught completely unaware of her well-intended friend's creation of a GoFundMe page...this experience has been both embarrassing and humbling for Dawn." Wells herself has now posted a response on Facebook:
