On Megyn Kelly Today on Thursday, Megyn Kelly interviewed controversial "Fit Mom" Maria Kang (the mommy blogger whose "What's Your Excuse?" photo of herself looking fit surrounded by her 3 young kids was accused of fat-shaming).

During the segment, Kelly revealed her own secret to staying thin: while studying at law school in the 1990s, she asked her stepfather, Peter Kirwan, to fat-shame her whenever she tried to eat.

“Some of us want to be shamed!” Kelly said. “When I was in law school, I was gaining weight, I said to my stepfather, ‘If you see me going into that kitchen one more time, you say, ‘Where you going, fat ass?’ And it works!”

The DGA nominates Guillermo Del Toro, Greta Gerwig, Martin McDonagh, Christopher Nolan, and Jordan Peele. For Oscar purposes, the DGA regularly gets 4/5 of the eventual nominees, and have gone 5/5 on occasion.

Nominees for the prize for Directorial Debut are Peele (who has a lock on this particular award), Geremy Jasper (Patti Cake$), Aaron Sorkin (Molly's Game), William Oldroyd (Lady Macbeth), and Taylor Sheridan (Wind River). I'm not clear how Sheridan was eligible for this, as he directed Vile in 2011.

Jesse Williams Reads H&M Over Racist ‘Monkey’ Sweatshirt

Jesse Williams, who recently starred in H&M’s holiday campaign alongside Nicki Minaj, is now sharing his thoughts about the scandal in a scathing Instagram post.

"Just getting back from vacation to see this pathetic excuse for corporate behavior and [ir]responsibility. Last year I chose to do a holiday campaign w/ @HM specifically because it centered women and girls as imaginative doers; because it centered an intelligent dark skinned girl w/ natural hair as protagonist; because it featured a loving, creative, working class black family. And then, here they come with this bullshit... These offenses are more about the makeup of the rooms where they happen, than the items they produce. There is a concentration of power, committed to exclusion, whether casual, accidental or conscious.
The collateral damage of this corporate, colonial mind-state recurs several times a year; it’s predictable the world over, like seasons. So when i first laid eyes on it, my reaction was neither shock nor anger. It was, boredom. This old world, white power, failing-upward culture of reckless trampling that repeatedly exposes itself, is boring already. Aren’t you bored?
Aren’t you bored watching mediocre, incurious & consequently destructive people waltz through your life, shepherded into positions of power, further choking off opportunity for the actually talented, curious & decent among us? It’s a truly desperate and bizarre ritual we’ve become conditioned to. A ritual that WILL go the way of the confederate flag: A relic of a destructive, juvenile “civilization,” disguised as harmless tradition. End relationships with your abusers. Make room for yourselves. #BuyBlack‬ #BuyResponsibly #Make"

Riverdale's Casey Cott Reviews Riverdale Memes + Another Season 2B Extended Trailer

Everyone's favorite cute-in-a-Mormon-kind-of-way, gay-for-pay-but-no-tongue-action actor Casey Cott, Riverdale's Kevin Keller, gives his take on some memes about the show.

This trailer is mostly the same as ones posted before, but does include some new footage including a line from Cheryl and a scene of Betty and Chic Cooper running. Based on this promo, it does seem like the show is getting "back-to-basics" like showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa claimed, but only time will tell if Riverdale can redeem itself from its divisive (to the say the least) mid-season finale.

- As most of you know Natalie Portman took her shot @ the Golden Globes introducing the Best Director category as "all-male nominees"

- Even though Guillermo looked taken aback/slightly annoyed (OP's perception) @ Natalie's shade, he came out in support of her via email

- He said he has no mixed feelings about her decision and thought it was great, and she should say exactly what she feels

- Also says there's phenomenal work being done by female directors such as Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird), Dee Rees (Mudbound), and Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman), saying they're all terrific

- He predicts the Oscar this year will go to a woman

Bryan Fuller set to adapt "The Vampire Chronicles" for TV

Bryan Fuller of American Gods, Star Trek Discovery Hannibal and Pushing Daisies will help bring the vampire Lestat to TV.

Partnering with Paramount Television and Anonymous Content to create a show that will focus on the journey of the vampire Lestat as he travels the world based on The Vampire Chronicles.

Christopher shares a funny story about Bryan Fuller wanting to do a film adaption of The Vampire Chronicles. Sometime in the 1980’s, a young teenager from Washington State, who dreamed of working in Hollywood one day, decided it was his destiny to write a film adaptation of a novel called INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE. So that teenager did what any resourceful, gifted and determined young person would do in such an instance; he got a copy of the San Francisco phone book and checked to see if the novel’s author had a listed phone number.
It turns out she did. To his astonishment, the author, my mother Anne Rice, answered the phone herself when he called, and when this young man declared his intentions to adapt her book for the big screen, she gave him the number of the producer in Hollywood who owned the rights. Naturally, the producer’s response was something along the lines of, “You’re too young, kid. Go hone your talent. Maybe someday.”

ONTD Original: Taylor Swift's transforming style over the past decade

$
0
0
Over the past decade, country-turned-pop star Taylor Swift has gradually shifted her style multiple times.  There are some trends that appear over and over (the Martha Stewart-look she likes), but mostly she changes it up when she releases a new album.

Warning: Image Heavy
Part I: Delicate
Side bangs, curls, beautiful gowns, beautiful gowns

"I have blonde eyelashes and blonde eyebrows, so my typical insecurity is that my eyes go away when I don't have makeup on."

At the beginning of her career, Taylor wore a lot of flouncy dresses, cowboy boots, and cute t-shirts. Sometimes she looked her age (16) and sometimes she looked like she was playing dress up.

Taylor Part II: State of Grace
Blunt bangs, straight hair, more sleek, cute dresses, retro clothing, high-waisted shorts

"Style is such a personal thing. It is your way to be an individual."

Beginning in 2010, Taylor became more conscious about her fashion, choosing more sleek dresses. She also began wearing bolder makeup and pulled her hair back occasionally. By 2012, her hair was pretty much always straightened, and she began making riskier and revealing choices with her clothes. In her personal life, she switched it up. Sometimes she looked like stepped out of a J Crew catalogue, and other days she was going for a retro look to fit in with the Kennedys.

Taylor Part III: Begin Again
Shorter locks, fuller fringe, more pastel and lighter colors

"When I'm getting dressed, it's always based on what my friends with think. They are my number one priority, and the opinions of girls are more important to me at this point in my life."

In 2014, Taylor's look was much more sophisticated. She cut her hair shorter and shorter and chose gowns that flattered her figure. Out and about, she was often spotted wearing crop tops & short skirts, carrying high-end purses, and ready for a workout.

Taylor Part IV: Fearless (about her Fashion)
Taylor begins experimenting with her hair color, continues wearing sunglasses that look like they were on clearance at Forever 51, and her clothes are all over the place.

"I like shirts and sweaters that fall off the shoulder or plaid button-ups."

Honestly, not quite sure what is going on here.  Her hair improves after her relationship with Hiddleston begins.

Taylor Part IV: Treacherous

Darker lipstick, medium-length chop, thick bangs, looser clothing, high-waisted shorts

"I find it relatively easy to keep my clothes on because I don't really feel like taking them off," said Swift. "It's not an urge I have."

This year, Taylor is hiding in suitcases, so it's difficult to see what she's wearing day-to-day. However, the new look she's using for "Reputation" pretty much speaks for itself.

ONTD, which style suits Taylor best?

- Liam Neeson says the pay gap between men and women in film is "fucking disgraceful" and that men need to be a part of the solution since they're the ones who created it.
- When the interviewer asks him if he'd be willing to take a pay cut to equal it out, he got offended and said "A pay cut!? No. No. That's going too far."
