The drama hails from Will Packer (Girls Trip, Ride Along) and Aaron McGruder (The Boondocks, Black Jesus).

Black America, a drama that envisions an alternate history where newly freed African Americans have secured the Southern states of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama post-Reconstruction as reparations for slavery, and with that land, the freedom to shape their own destiny.

HBO's announcement of Confederate is what prompted the producers behind Black America to unveil the show's premise.

Billboard is delaying the release of their charts and released a statement:

A top-tier data provider has encountered technical issues, preventing the delivery of its data to Nielsen Music (which provides the sales, streaming and airplay information for Billboard's charts).

Due to this issue, and because there is a close race for No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, Billboard is holding back the release of all of its Aug. 12-dated charts until we get further clarity from the data provider.

Sketchy, are they waiting for Tidal's fake streams to push Meek's album to #1? Just asking.

According to showrunner Courtney Kemp, Starz didn’t agree to extend the episode order, resulting in just one packed episode. Kemp said that as a result, the episode lost some story elements.
“I asked them for 12 episodes for season 4 and they would not do it. So because they would not do it, we had to make it one episode.”

• Siesta Key is a new MTV reality show with a format similar to the network's past hits Laguna Beach and its spinoff The Hills. The show follows the lives of a group of privileged friends.


• A watch party for the premiere tonight came to a halt halfway through when a video, featuring a friend of one of the Siesta Key's stars (Alex Kompothecras), went viral. In said video, a shark is being abused. Alex's facebook response to the video, before it was deleted, was: "I had absolutely nothing to do with the shark video. Yes he's a friend of mine, but no I don't agree with what he did. Check your facts before you go posting on my page. Thanks."


• As a result, at least 6,000 Facebook users are protesting Siesta Key. The show (or its actors) have also received death threats. When asked if the shark abuse video and the death threats are what ended the watch party, Alex's father (the one who conceived the idea for the series) said, "I wouldn't say that's the only reason. There are other reasons."
