In the 1971 version of The Beguiled, a slave named Hallie (Mae Mercer) is tasked with caring for McBurney (Clint Eastwood) as he heals. In the 2017 version with McBurney now played by Colin Farrell many of those scenes are transferred over to Martha, and Hallie does not appear.

"I’m definitely attracted to stories about female characters, and characters that I can relate to. I’m interested in stories of groups of women together."

“I didn't want to brush over such an important topic in a light way. Young girls watch my films and this was not the depiction of an African-American character I would want to show them.”

“I feel like you can’t show everyone’s perspective in a story. I was really focused on just this one group of women who were really isolated and weren’t prepared. A lot of slaves had left at that time, so they were really that emphasized that they were cut off from the world. Hallie’s story’s a really interesting story, but it’s a whole other story, so I was really focused on these women.”

“I would love to have a more racially diverse cast whenever I can. It didn’t work for this story, but of course I’m very open to stories about many different experiences and points of view.”

Iliza Shlesinger thinks female comics make too many vagina jokes and not enough WWII jokes

In an interview, Iliza Schlesinger, the comedian who makes goat sounds a lot, explained why she's disappointed with the quality of female comedians and the number of "low hanging" vagina jokes. Her thoughts weren't received well by other women in comedy.




Iliza tweeted back at a lot of the criticism (many responses were deleted, some weren't), announced a facebook live where she said she would explain her thoughts, cancelled that facebook live, posted a photo of herself in a bikini where she claimed women were mad a ther because she made them question their comedy and she isn't afraid of her body and wrote a response to the criticism.

The Queen Visits Scene Of Grenfell Tower Fire & Trooping The Colour 2017

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge meet firefighters during a visit to the Westway Sports Centre, which is providing temporary shelter for those who have been made homeless in the Grenfell Tower disaster on June 16, 2017 in London, England. 30 people have been confirmed dead and dozens still missing, after the 24 storey residential Grenfell Tower block in Latimer Road was engulfed in flames in the early hours of June 14. Emergency services will spend a third day searching through the building for bodies. Police have said that some victims may never be identified.

She performed new songs for the first time ever such as "The Louvre' and 'Supercut', and even ended the show with a haunting a capella rendition of 'Writer in the Dark'.

The promo says 2X02 but it's for 2X03, they released the wrong promo last week. Synopsis for 2X03, “Gonna Getcha Good”: 'Doc tries to help Dolls, while Wynonna must deal with an angry Djinn with payback on his mind.'

The TV Junkies' Bridget Liszewski talks to Emily Andras about 2X02, "Shed Your Skin". Highlights:


* Waverly isn't telling Wynonna about her potentially not being an Earp because it's a massive thing to even speculate about, their relationship is key and finally on track, Waverly wants to know for sure before maybe throwing a wrench into it. It's too stressful and too much to process, plus Wynonna is grieving Dolls and Willa and going through a tough time.

* Wynonna is a natural leader, but still doubts her own decision making abilities, it'll be a challenge this year rallying the team and seeing who ultimately makes the choices when they are going into battle. They wanted Wynonna to have in Mercedes a female friend who is as sassy, powerful and unapologetic as Wynonna herself is. She also has a very interesting family we'll meet called the Gardners and they play a big role in this season.

* Doc is at his most fun when he's up to no good, Emily says Rosita brings a whole new energy to the show. Doc doesn't want to be Wynonna's second choice, whether Dolls is in the picture or not, if he's going to win Wynonna, he wants to do it fair and square. It'll be good for Doc to not be the one chasing for once- maybe it's time for Wynonna to think about what she might be missing.

* It was time to answer some questions about the WayHaught relationship and do right by it. They're very much at the beginning, figuring things out and having important milestones. They want it to be a real relationship and feel like three-dimensional characters, it's good to see that people can have a fight and then make up. Emily likes that Nicole waited until Waverly was ready to consummate the relationship. We're going to see some angst when it comes to Nicolle's career- she's ambitious and wants to do well in her career and is still upset her promotion to Black Badge was denied to her.

* Jeremy has a big crush on Doc, which he's not even hiding. Doc is playing oblivious, but is not oblivious at all. About 2X03: The episode has more backstory about the girls in Purgatory and what their lives were like, we meet some new important characters. It's one of the most fun episodes of the year with a good villain. It has a good Nicole storyline and we dig deeper into where she's at.






Entertainment Weekly also sat down with Emily Andras to discuss 2X02. Highlights:



* Doc is a proud guy and doesn't want to be anyone's second choice, but maybe he knows Wynonna also needs some time after killing her sister. It's a little bit of everything and complicated. He knew them having a tryst in the shower was not a good idea, that it came from a broken place and not a genuine one. Wynonna might be furious at Doc in the short term, but she knows he has her best interests at heart and does know her. They're similar in temperament and they're not sure, deep down, that they're good people. They don't hate the violence and the grit, they get off on it and are adrenaline junkies. It's almost too honest, like a mirror image, but Wynonna needs people who are going to be honest with her.

* Lucado shouldn't be underestimated- she's wildly ambitious and knows how to play the game, but has personal stake in bringing Dolls down, which makes her dangerous. She's not interested in being a good boss to Wynonna and the gang, she's just biding her time and trying to figure out a way to get out of Purgatory. She's going to put everybody in a lot of danger, because she's not really looking out for them or has their backs.

* Rosita is intriguing and alluring. Doc obviously knows her and what she brings to the table- a kind of chemist or biochemist. But she doesn't really like him, so he's blackmailing her into working for him. Whether she'll fit exactly into the team or not, we'll have to wait and see.

* Waverly trusted Nicole with the information about her maybe not being an Earp, because she knows she has her back and won't judge her, that she wants her happy and supports her. Even though they had their first fight, it only made them closer, it's starting to feel like a real relationship, they're really connecting. They got together pretty quickly and didn't have time to start their relationship. They don't want Nicole to just be the girlfriend, Nicole's career being important to her makes her more of a three-dimensional character. It's important that they're both three-dimensional characters who have real relationship challenges, both supernatural and natural. Waverly is affected by some sort of entity- how well does Nicole think she knows her, will she be able to suss out when it's Waverly and when it's not?

* The only thing she was willing to tease about Dolls is- 'don't keep a good lizard down- never count out a lizard man.'

Starbucks will donate 25 cents through Monday to the Born This Way Foundation with the purchase of one of four drinks: ombre pink drink, pink drink, violet drink and matcha lemonade.

Tom Cruise Had Excessive Control Over 'The Mummy'

  • Sources claims Tom Cruise had a contractually guaranteed control over everything about 'The Mummy', including script, post-production decisions and also marketing and release affairs (he's allegedly the one who pushed the movie to be released on summer).

  • Tom Cruise's people didn't reply to the request for comment while Universal released a statement denying the claims, saying that Tom was a true partner and super dedicated to give people a truly cinematic moviegoing experience.

  • The mummy and Cruise's character had the same amount of screentime untill 2 of the three credited screenwriters of the movie were personally hired by Tom to rewrite the script. They beefed up his part and described him as a "young man" in certain points of the script. Universal was displeased, but went along with it.

  • Apparently, he was more of a director on set than Alex Kurtzman, though some of the sources argue that Kurtzman was too inexperiencied so Tom Cruise had no choice other than take charge (Cruise was also the one who greenlit the choice of Alex for the directing gig).

  • He also hired his longtime editor to edit the movie once it was done shooting.

  • Frank Walsh, supervising art director had this to say: "This is very much a film of two halves: before Tom and after Tom. I have heard the stories about how he drives everything and pushes and pushes, but it was amazing to work with him. The guy is a great filmmaker and knows his craft. He will walk onto a set and tell the director what to do, say ‘that’s not the right lens,’ ask about the sets, and as long as you don’t fluff what you’re saying to him … he’s easy to work for.”

-Based on Brandon's reaction to producer names being thrown out there like Ryan Tedder and Jack Antonoff - it seems their work didn't make the album or wasn't fully realized. Jacknife Lee seems to be the main producer for this new album.
-Confirm that they're done with yearly Christmas singles. Putting their Christmas songs on Vinyl this year.
-The fifth album is still currently being mixed.


-All songs for this new album were written/recorded in the last year and a half.
-Anton Corbijn shot the album artwork and press photographs.
-Wonderful Wonderful is due out in late September 2017.
