Arcade Fire recently premiered live two new songs off their 5th studio album Everything Now, out July 28th. The songs showcase an entirely new sound for the band, thanks to the production of Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter.

After 16 years with Merge Records, four studio albums and an EP, the band has called it quits and has signed with Sony/Columbia.
A Sony Music spokesman told Music Week“We can confirm that Arcade Fire’s new album will be released on Columbia Records, both in the UK and US.” Through the deal Arcade Fire will release their next two albums (Everything Now + the following) through Columbia and will also move their entire back catalogue to Sony Music.

The 70-Year-Old Woman Who Was Body Shamed By Playboy Playmate Dani Mathers Speaks Out

The victim has remained anonymous and hasn't spoken to press, but her lawyer Mike Feuer recently spoke about the lasting impact the crime has had on her.

"She used the word, that it had been 'humiliating. There’s nothing that exemplifies that more than this: When the outcome of this case was being reached, the topic of restitution came up, and she sought restitution of, like, $60. And people wanted to know afterwards, why? And the answer is, she had to buy a new backpack. Because the photograph depicted her in the shower, her backpack was hanging there, and it was a way people could identify her. She had to replace that with another backpack."

"Ms. Mathers says that she didn’t intend to widely disseminate the photo. That ignores the fact that she invaded another woman’s privacy by taking a nude photo of her in a gym. And then, of course, once she took the photo, she added a cruel caption to it before she sent it out."

"I saw Ms. Mathers on Good Morning America. She claims that she’s tried to contact the victim, I presume to apologize. I will share with you, that surprises the victim, who told me she is unaware of any attempt by Ms. Mathers to reach out to her."

"Body shaming is inhumane. And it tears down the victim’s self-respect. It has devastating consequences. It stigmatizes victims. Think today about the trans kid who is struggling with their identity. Think about members of the LGBTQ community, about disabled people. We are hearing more and more in the media about how horrific body shaming can be for its victims, and I hope that this case deters people from engaging in that kind of behavior in the future, because it is so deeply harmful."

Max Landis is a screenwriter most famous for movies American Ultra and Chronicle, a child of nepotism, and a very opinionated man (he defended whitewashing in Hollywood, called Rey a Mary Sue, denied having any kind of privilege, etc.). He recently took to Twitter to express his love for YouTuber hbomberguy (known for his anti-MRA and anti-alt right videos as well as videos about video games). It didn't go quite as planned.

Hbomberguy later explained that his reply was misunderstood, but the damage was already done :(

Bizarre Details About Glennon Doyle, Christian Mommy Blogger

Elle magazine profiled Glennon Doyle Melton, the Christian mommy blogger who divorced her husband to marry Abby Wambach, the women's soccer star. In 2015 she wrote a bestselling memoir about saving her marriage after her husband cheated on her. Then she divorced him for Abby Wambach.

*Her sexual orientation:

For the record, she describes herself as “gay for the purposes of activism,” but insists that her true orientation defies classification: “My sexuality is Abby,” she tells me.

“[Abby and I] wake up in the morning, and we literally say to each other: ‘Coffee and revolution.’”

*She's friends with Oprah:

“My new friend’s name is Oprah.”

“I address my e-mails to her, ‘Dear God’s Girl’ and I sign them: ‘Love, God’s Girl.’

*Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat Pray Love, thinks she's the next Gloria Steinem.

“I think she’s the next Gloria Steinem.”

*Her stans are next-level:

"Her disciples have been photographed crawling into Melton's lap onstage in the middle of her speeches."

"After several incidents in which the gamine warrior was almost knocked off her heels by stampeding fans, ticket holders for her events now queue up—and at times pay extra—if they want an embrace."

"'You know who you look like? BVM,' gushed one follower, underneath a photo showing Melton cradling an emotional fan in her arms. BVM, as in the Blessed Virgin Mary."

*When she came out as gay, the reaction was mostly positive:

"'"Oprah said, 'Get ready. The bloodbath will be tomorrow,'" Glennon recalls... Melton's fans took the news in stride; the bloodbath never came."

She wants to be an activist:

More than a quarter-million people have watched the Facebook Live webcast Glennon filmed the day after the White House's Muslim travel ban was announced. In it, she sits cross-legged on her kitchen floor, a corona of golden curls surrounding her head. "Issues like refugee care can seem so overwhelming," she says.

It's a new model for protest politics: activism as self-care."I've been so scared," Glennon says, reading a comment from a viewer. "I know. Me too. It's okay to be scared," she replies in almost a whisper. "We'll tell fear it can come along with us in our minivan, okay? But we'll just tell fear it can't drive." She fluffs her hair. "Sometimes we'll tell it to not even talk. Like when we tell our kids, 'Enough. No words.' We're going to play the quiet game with fear. Fear is not the boss of us."

Katy Perry's album promo campaign continues to be as bizarre as humanely possible.

As news of Taylor Swift finally allowing her back-catalogue to be streamed on Spotify dominates Katy's album release night, it appears Katy is providing counterprogramming of her own to her album release.

She's living the next few days in a house with her own personal version of the 24/7 Big Brother live feeds complete with an HOH bed.

Last night the stream was introduced with an acoustic show and then her album release party with the producers and writers who worked on the album.

She'll reportedly have guests like Sia and Neil deGrasse Tyson visiting her home throughout the weekend.
