Temptation - and a food mixer - cause chaos in the Cambridgeshire village as tensions come to a head

“Temptation is the source of all suffering,” Sidney Chambers (James Norton) tells his congregation as they gather in the church, his words – as always – setting the scene for what’s to come during a 60-minute trip to that picturesque parish of Grantchester.
Geordie’s (Robson Green) temptation finally takes its toll on poor old Cathy (Kacey Ainsworth). Speaking of husbands who definitely don’t deserve their wives, the return of Mrs Maguire’s mysterious Ronnie gives Tessa Peake-Jones the chance to showcase her talents. The most heartbreaking moment of the episode is reserved for Al Weaver’s Leonard. For weeks now we’ve watched him struggle with his sexuality after the Archdeacon (Gary Beadle) basically instructed him to straighten up and find a wife, and as old flame Daniel rolls into town for the engagement photos everything comes to a head."

EPISODE 5 PREVIEW
21 May 2017

The characters are cut loose from their usual moorings tonight. Sidney has gone walkabout, hitching across the countryside to track down Mrs McGuire’s wayward husband (Charlie Higson) – although we get the strong feeling he’s trying to find himself more than anything else – and escape his nagging Doubts.

'The Haunting of Hill House' by Shirley Jackson

'The Haunting of Hill House' by Shirley Jackson

About: First published in 1959, Shirley Jackson's The Haunting of Hill House has been hailed as a perfect work of unnerving terror. It is the story of four seekers who arrive at a notoriously unfriendly pile called Hill House: Dr. Montague, an occult scholar looking for solid evidence of a "haunting"; Theodora, his lighthearted assistant; Eleanor, a friendless, fragile young woman well acquainted with poltergeists; and Luke, the future heir of Hill House. At first, their stay seems destined to be merely a spooky encounter with inexplicable phenomena. But Hill House is gathering its powers—and soon it will choose one of them to make its own.

'The Exorcist' by William Peter Blatty

'The Exorcist' by William Peter Blatty

About: Originally published in 1971, The Exorcist is now a major television series on FOX. It remains one of the most controversial novels ever written and went on to become a literary phenomenon: It spent fifty-seven weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, seventeen consecutively at number one. Inspired by a true story of a child’s demonic possession in the 1940s, William Peter Blatty created an iconic novel that focuses on Regan, the eleven-year-old daughter of a movie actress residing in Washington, D.C. A small group of overwhelmed yet determined individuals must rescue Regan from her unspeakable fate, and the drama that ensues is gripping and unfailingly terrifying.

'White is for Witching' by Helen Oyeyemi

'White is for Witching' by Helen Oyeyemi

About: In a vast, mysterious house on the cliffs near Dover, the Silver family is reeling from the hole punched into its heart. Lily is gone and her twins, Miranda and Eliot, and her husband, the gentle Luc, mourn her absence with unspoken intensity. All is not well with the house, either, which creaks and grumbles and malignly confuses visitors in its mazy rooms, forcing winter apples in the garden when the branches should be bare. Generations of women inhabit its walls. And Miranda, with her new appetite for chalk and her keen sense for spirits, is more attuned to them than she is to her brother and father. She is leaving them slowly -

Slipping away from them -

And when one dark night she vanishes entirely, the survivors are left to tell her story.

"Miri I conjure you "

This is a spine-tingling tale that has Gothic roots but an utterly modern sensibility. Told by a quartet of crystalline voices, it is electrifying in its expression of myth and memory, loss and magic, fear and love.

'The Shining' by Stephen King

'The Shining' by Stephen King

About: Jack Torrance's new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atmospheric old hotel, he'll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. But as the harsh winter weather sets in, the idyllic location feels ever more remote...and more sinister. And the only one to notice the strange and terrible forces gathering around the Overlook is Danny Torrance, a uniquely gifted five-year-old.

About: A blind old man, a young apprentice working in a tattoo shop, and a mad woman haunting an Ohio institute narrate this story of a family that encounters an endlessly shifting series of hallways in their new home, eventually coming face to face with the awful darkness lying at its heart.

Arrested Development season five is official! The entire series regular cast (Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Portia de Rossi, David Cross and Alia Shawkat) will return, as will original creator Mitchell Hurwitz.

In a statement, Hurwitz also took the opportunity to drag the Trump family, saying that :

"In talks with Netflix we all felt that that stories about a narcissistic, erratically behaving family in the building business — and their desperate abuses of power — are really underrepresented on TV these days.

I am so grateful to them and to 20th TV for making this dream of mine come true in bringing the Bluths, George Sr., Lucille and the kids; Michael, Ivanka, Don Jr., Eric, George-Michael, and who am I forgetting, oh Tiffany. Did I say Tiffany? — back to the glorious stream of life."

Beauty Post! Starring.... Mary-Kate and Ashley?!

YES! Here we have a very rare post on How To Get Mary-Kate And Ashley Olsen's Hair, by their go-to hairstylist Mark Townsend.

Not everyone has the time to hit up a 20 minute YouTube tutorial on how to get Lana Del Rey waves or Selena Gomez thickness levels. Sometimes, we are mothers, sometimes we are students with two jobs, sometimes we simply slept in, and sometimes we just want to rebel against the high-maintenance, pressure-to-be-perfect Instagram aesthetic that has been dominating the beauty game in recent years!

Mark Townsend brings to you the Mary-Kate and Ashley aesthetic; a look that requires as little maintenance as possible with cuts, colour, and style, as well as lots of texture. Mark Townsend describes the twins as having become "true wash-and-go clients".

#1. Never look too done:"They are so focused on fashion and designing that a lot of times, their hair takes almost a backseat."
- Mary-Kate's rule: use no more than five hairpins for an updo! Otherwise it's too done and too try hard.

#6. Take it easy on the braids:"I can't look at another fishtail braid, to be honest. But I love using braids as accents."
- He also loves that the big, thick side-braid is coming back.

However, anything goes for the Met Gala. Here is Mary-Kate's hair when she attended this year's Met Ball:

"It was an antique that she found, it was really heavy. So when we were trying to figure out how we were going to drape it, she literally gets in the mirror and she's like, 'what if it's kind of like this?' And I'm like, 'okay don't move.' And then I just pinned frantically around her fingers."

For Ashley's hairstyle, Mark Townsend kept it to a minimum for the red carpet, hiding the small detail of her braid behind her extravagant Christian Lacroix coat for that 'tucked in' look.

Mark also shared his hair conditioner recipe that the twins use as more of a pre-shampoo treatment:
"One cup of coconut oil to one tablespoon of each almond oil, jojoba oil, macadamia oil, vitamin E. That's it."
He says it helps with protecting the hair from chlorine, as well as helping to prevent colour from being stripped away by shampoos.
