-CBS ordered and shot a pilot for a modern-day Nancy Drew series, and recently it was reported that it would not be picked up to series by the network
-However, today it came out that the reason it was not picked up is because it was "too female" for CBS
-The pilot reportedly tested very well, which is even more confusing why CBS would pass on it because it was "too female"

Joey Bats gets chin checked by Texas Rangers second baseman after dirty slide

Long story short:

-Jose Bautista of the Toronto Blue Jays was hit by a 98mph fastball by Rangers pitcher Matt Bush.

-Instead of letting his team get retaliation later in the inning, he took it upon himself and slid into second base in an attempt to take out Odor to break up a double play.
-Odor wasn't having it, decked Bautista and the benches cleared. What ensued was a good ol' bench clearing brawl.

-Myspace/Warped Tour era makeup artist turned professional beauty manufacturer Jeffree Star went out with another youtuber called MakeUpShayla when she allegedly told another person to get lip injections because her face was disproportionate

Kristen Stewart is at Cannes for her films Cafe Society and Personal Shopper, and she's given a few memorable moments and soundbites from the French festival:

Kristen and her (apparently on-again?) girlfriend Alicia Cargile had an impromptu dance party on the red carpet of American Honey, Shia's latest film.




Stewart and Cargile were spotted holding hands at the Cannes Film Festival.
The cousins gal-pals, who were formerly very low-key about their relationship, seem to be going public-- Cargile even joined Stewart on the red carpet. The pair dated for several months last year before Stewart began seeing the French singer Soko.

It's a requirement for all women to wear high heels at Cannes, but Kristen Stewart disagrees with that rule, calling it archaic. She had paired her ensemble of Chanel blouse and skirt with a pair of flats, but was told that she couldn't enter the red carpet until she changed into high heels.

“It has become really obvious that if [a man and I] were walking the red carpet together and someone stopped me and said, ‘Excuse me, young lady, you’re not wearing heels. You cannot come in.’ Then [I’m going to say], ‘Neither is my friend. Does he have to wear heels?’ It can work both ways. It’s just like you simply cannot ask me to do something that you are not asking him. I get the black-tie thing but you should be able to do either version—flats or heels.”

ONTD Original: Pop girls with failed or forgotten solo careers

Very few female members from pop groups were able to achieve longterm success with their solo projects. Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Cheryl Cole are some of the few who have been able to maintain relevance and release music regularly. This post looks at the failed and forgotten solo careers of the female members of famous pop groups.



A*Teens

The Swedish group A*Teens originally debuted as an ABBA tribute band called ABBA Teens in 1998, but they changed their named to avoid confusion. The group had moderate success around the world, but disbanded after the members became adults. Marie Serneholt and Sara Lumholdt, the two female members in the group, both worked on their own solo projects following the group's split.

Marie Serneholt

Marie Serneholt released her debut album "Enjoy the Ride" in 2006, with the lead single "That's The Way That My Heart Goes." Although the song peaked at #2 in Sweden, it wasn't as successful throughout the rest of Europe, and plans to release the song in North America were scrapped.



Sara Lumholdt

In 2007, Sara Lumholdt released the single "Glamour Bitch" through her MySpace under the name Sara Love. The song featured rapper Milano Money and wasn't very popular with her fans, as it featured provocative lyrics. In 2008, Sara flew out to Los Angeles to record her debut album, but plans for its release were scrapped. The album she recorded remains unreleased to this day.



Steps

Steps was a British pop act that debuted in the late 90s. The group achieved a string of hits in the UK before eventually disbanding in 2001. Steps reformed in 2012, releasing their fourth studio album and going on tour in support of it.

Lisa Scott-Lee

Lisa Scott-Lee is the only member of Steps to officially release music as a solo artist. Her debut album "Unleashed" was supposed to be released in 2003, but Lisa was dropped from her label before it could be released. Her album was eventually released in South Africa in 2007 with the name "Never Or Now."



Mis-Teeq

Mis-Teeq was a British girl group that had a string of hits in the UK. Their biggest hit, "Scandalous," peaked at #2 in the UK and was released in the US as the theme of the 2004 film Catwoman. Mis-Teeq released only two studio albums before disbanding in 2005.

Alesha Dixon

After leaving Mis-Teeq, Alesha Dixon had a successful career comeback in 2007 after she won Strictly Come Dancing. In 2008, she released "The Boy Does Nothing," which went on to become an international hit for her. Although Alesha has released four studio albums, only her second album has managed to go platinum in the UK.



S Club 7

S Club 7 was a popular late 90s/early 00s British pop group that quickly rose to fame thanks to their television series. The band is well-known for their marijuana controversy, when Paul, Jon, and Bradley were all caught in possession of weed in 2001.

Rachel Stevens

Rachel Stevens is the prettiest and most popular member of the group. She released two studio albums and achieved five Top 10 hits as a solo artist. Although her music is considered pop perfection by many, she hasn't released any singles or albums in over a decade.



Jo O'Meara

Jo O'Meara is most famous for being a giant racist during the fifth season of Celebrity Big Brother. Nobody cared for her music when she released her solo album, and this is made evident by the fact that Cascada's version of "What Hurts The Most" outpeaked O'Meara's version in the UK.



Tina Barrett

Tina Barrett released her debut solo single "Fire" in 2012. She self-released the music video on her YouTube channel and disabled comments and likes on the video because it was so poorly received.



Girls Aloud

Girls Aloud is the UK's best girl group ever (even better than the Spice Girls). They had twenty consecutive Top 10 hits. Sadly, they never achieved much popularity outside of the UK.

Nadine Coyle

Nadine Coyle is the voice of the group, as she had lead vocals on most of their songs. Sadly, her solo career ended up being a big joke, as she was managed by some dude who was a total hack. In 2010, she struck a deal with Tesco to sell her album in their stores. As expected, her album flopped.



Nicola Roberts

Nicola Roberts is known as the ugly member of Girls Aloud. She released a really great pop record in 2011, but it flopped because she has an awful voice and just like Demi Lovato, she is very dislikable.



Kimberley Walsh

Kimberley Walsh is the absolute most forgettable member of Girls Aloud. She released a flop album of showtunes covers in 2013.



Sarah Harding

In 2015, Sarah Harding released her first official single "Threads." The song sucks. Her best solo track is the song "Too Bad," which was featured on the St. Trinian's 2 soundtrack in 2009.



Sugababes

The Sugababes were an extremely popular British girl group during the Noughties. Just like Destiny's Child, they went through many lineup changes over the years. Their best and most popular single is "Push The Button."

Siobhán Donaghy

Siobhán Donaghy was a member of the original Sugababes lineup. She released two flop albums that were well-received by critics.



Mutya Buena

In 2007, Mutya Buena released her only solo album, "Real Girl." The album reached the Top 10 in the UK and spawned two Top 10 hits.



Spice Girls

The Spice Girls are the best-selling female pop group of all time, as well as one of the biggest British acts ever. The group split up in 2000, after releasing an album without Geri Halliwell. Halliwell's departure in 1998 was one of the biggest celeb scandals of the year.

Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham released her first solo album in 2001, which spawned two Top 10 hits. Her second studio album's release was scrapped when her label went bankrupt. Her best song "Let Your Head Go" was the lead single from her cancelled album.



Melanie Brown

Despite having three Top 10 singles, one of which went #1, Mel B's first solo album flopped. She was ultimately dropped from her label, and released another flop album a few years later.



Emma Bunton

Although Emma Bunton released three albums and had seven Top 10 hits, her solo music career has pretty much been forgotten. Her best single is "Maybe."



All Saints

All Saints is the second best British girl group. They released a lot of great songs and had a cool and edgy vibe. They recently released their fourth studio album, which peaked at #3 in the UK.

Shaznay Lewis

Shaznay Lewis has a very distinctive voice and she's a very talented songwriter. She always releases great music. Her only solo album peaked at #22 in the UK, and featured the Top 10 single "Never Felt Like This Before."



Melanie Blatt

Melanie Blatt released her first solo single "Do Me Wrong" in 2003. She was in the process of recording her solo album when she was dropped by her label. In 2005, she released her second solo single and planned to release a solo album independently, but it was shelved.



Pussycat Dolls

The Pussycat Dolls were a highly-sexualized girl group that achieved success during the mid-to-late Noughties. The only member who achieved any sort of solo success was Nicole Scherzinger, who had a string of Top 10 hits in the UK.

Kimberly Wyatt

Kimberly Wyatt achieved some success with her feature on Aggro Santos' single "Candy" in 2010. In 2013, she released "Derriere," which was a giant flop.



Carmit Bachar

In 2012, Carmit Bachar released "Keep On Smiling," which flopped.



Ashley Roberts

In 2014, Ashley Roberts released her debut album "Butterfly Effect." In 2016, Meghan Trainor rewrote and re-recorded Ashley Robert's single "Woman Up" for her album "Thank You."



Jessica Sutta

Jessica Sutta released her debut solo single "Show Me" in 2011, but was dropped by Hollywood Records after the song failed to become a hit. She recently released her latest single "Forever" a few months ago.



Melody Thornton

Melody Thornton has released a string of solo songs, none of which have charted. She is still at work on her debut solo album.

Feminism, lesbian celebrity fanfic, literary humor, art history, and all things silly and smart will be tragically poorer come summertime-- satire blog The Toast has announced that it will close its doors as of July 1, 2016.

The Toast gently skewered everything from the revered pastures of academia to femslash fiction. Founded three years ago, it quickly became popular with niche corners of the internet and spawned several viral posts like Ayn Ran'd Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone,Owl Faces, In Order, and Books That Literally All White Men Own.

The site's founders Nicole Cliffe and Mallory Ortberg cited decreasing ad revenue as a major motivation to cease publication, but also said that they are moving their careers in new directions. (Cliffe is writing for The Guardian and raising two small children; Ortberg now writes Slate's Dear Prudence column and is working on a book of horror stories.)
