Peter Jackson responds to Gollum court case
Director Peter Jackson issued the following statement in regards to the Turkish court case in which a physician risks jail time for comparing the Turkish president to images of Gollum:
“If the images ... are in fact the ones forming the basis of this Turkish lawsuit, we can state categorically – none of them feature the character known as Gollum. All of them are images of the character called Sméagol.
“Sméagol is a joyful, sweet, character. Smeagol does not lie, deceive, or attempt to manipulate others. He is not evil, conniving, or malicious – these personality traits belong to Gollum, who should never be confused with Sméagol. Sméagol would never dream of wielding power over those weaker than himself. He is not a bully. In fact he’s very loveable.”

On March 25th, Zayn Malik announced via a Facebook post that he was leaving the world's biggest boyband to have some quality me-time and make #realmusic. Directioners were heartbroken (#CutForZayn), the rest of the world wasn't surprised / didn't care.
The months that followed included hilariously petty sparring between Zayn and his temporary BFF Naughty Boy, and 1D's resident rat Louis Tomlinson.

2. Rachel Dolezal is 'transracial' (i.e. delusional, stupid, racist)

In June it was revealed that Rachel Dolezal, the former NAACP (that's National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) chapter president is totally white, but presented herself as an African-American woman. She eventually resigned from her post, but continues to state that she "identifies as black".
Meanwhile, Iggy Azalea prepared a lawsuit to take Dolezal down for stealing her schtick.

After months of speculation, former athlete Bruce Jenner came out as transgender early in 2015. In June, Caitlyn was introduced to the world on the cover of Vanity Fair Magazine, a cover that was met with both widespread applause and transphobia. Caitlyn went on to star in her own docu-series and be awarded the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the 2015 ESPYs.
She then displayed a devastating lack of social awareness by proclaiming that she is still a republican.

In what is OP's favourite string of events of 2015, Nicki Minaj called out the VMAs after her iconic video for Anaconda did not receive a nomination for Video of the Year. After a Nikki tweet that was clearly referring to Miley Cyrus'; "Wrecking Ball"; and to the wider bias against POC in VMA nominations, queen of White Feminism Taylor Swift decided that it was all about her.
Much to ONTDs delight, the internet WENT IN and even Katy Perry, the subject of Taylor's most recent hate-rampage, chimed in.

In October, former basketball star and ex-husband of Khloe Kardashian was found unconcsious in a brothel in Nevada. His family and the Kardashian family rushed to his side, and many reports emerged that he was fighting for his life. He was discharged from a Vegas hospital a week later but is reportedly facing lifelong cognitive and mobility impairments.

Previously unknown Adele impersonator breaks BBC record
The clip of Jenny, whose day job is a nanny, and a beehive of fellow Adele impersonators singing Make You Feel My Love from the Adele at the BBC special has officially become the most-watched video ever on the BBC's YouTube channel, with more than 37 millions views in just two weeks.
The previous record holders were Will Smith, Jaden Smith, Alfonso Ribero, and DJ Jazzy Jeff performing a Fresh Prince of Bel Air-inspired medley back in 2013 (37 million views). Former The Voice UK judge Jessie J currently holds the third spot with her Nobody's Perfect duet (28.5 million views).
Executive Producer of Adele at the BBC Guy Freeman praised Jenny's performance: "Adele was very keen to do the sketch and worked closely with my team to make this comedy-gold moment such a roaring success. She shows not only what a great sport she is, but also what a great comedy actor she is too."
