VEEP scoop for season 3

Season three of "Veep" may not premiere on HBO until 2014, but Julia Louis-Dreyfus was just itching to give us some details about what's to come for her character, Vice President Selina Meyer, during her recent video chat with Gold Derby's Tom O'Neil and Matt Noble.

To recap, the end of "Veep's" second season found Selina making a big play for the Oval Office. But if she actually becomes the President, what would that mean for the show?"Well, first of all, it would be a problem for the title, wouldn't it?" joked Louis-Dreyfus. "So, I guess we'd go from 'Veep' to 'POTUS.' But, I don't know, I really like that 'Veep' title."

"We're figuring out" the third season right now, she continued. "We're kind of all on this journey together. And it's really morphing all the time through rehearsals and the work with the writers and stuff like that. But we have a long way to go before she's elected or not elected President. A long way to go."
Louis-Dreyfus went on to tease us a little bit more. "She is gonna be campaigning this season. We're gonna get out of Washington a lot. It's about likeability and it's about money. It's gonna be an interesting season coming up. But we're not changing the title anytime soon, I can tell you that for sure."

Besides Louis-Dreyfus' bid for Best Comedy Actress, for which she's predicted to win with 8/15 odds, "Veep" received its second consecutive nomination for Best Comedy Series as well as first-time supporting nods for Tony Hale and Anna Chlumsky."It feels tremendous. And I would say, besides being nominated for the show, the fact that both Anna and Tony were also nominated, it is such an affirmation and I am so just tickled, and I'm just pinching myself. It's a fabulous time and we mustn't forget it. Because these things are fleeting, so it's nice to hang onto them."Also in the chat, O'Neil and Noble informed Louis-Dreyfus of her record-setting 14 Emmy nominations as a comedy performer: seven supporting for "Seinfeld" (1992-1998), five lead for "The New Adventures of Old Christine" (2006-2010) and two more for "Veep" (2012-2013). That puts her ahead of Lucille Ball (13), Cloris Leachman (12), and Mary Tyler Moore (11) in the comedy categories (Tyne Daly, Leachman, and Alfre Woodard have more nods overall).

"That's what I'm told," Louis-Dreyfus admitted about her record number of nominations. "I will tell you I'm suspicious of that fact, but I'm not going to question it for fear of an actual recount."

With three Emmy wins -- one for each series -- she's only one trophy shy of tying comedy legend Ball, who has four wins for comedy acting. "I didn't know that fact actually," Louis-Dreyfus admitted. "Now my hands are sweating, so thanks a lot for that."
