    - Limp Bizkit are playing some "nu-metal cruise" and Wes Borland isn't too happy about it recently Instagram'ing the following:

Getting all packed up this week for Broatchella 2015. It’s the same as Brochella but it’s off land. Can’t wait to see me some roided out tribal tattooed spray tanned Jell-O shot filled bohunks do their best drunk MMA impressions in the top deck mosh pit. Whenever we aren’t on stage, I’ll be curled up fetal position in my cabin, palms up, while I desperately cling to the last week of my thirties as it slips through my hooked fingers. So, I’d like to give a shout out now to all the other over-the-hill late nineties/early 2000s bands going on the cruise: Let’s give these people the raging alcohol fueled nostalgia fest they’re paying for guys! I know we can do it if we tune down low enough!

    - He really hates Kid Rock too (this tweet is referencing Kid Rock posing with a dead mountain lion for those who missed it):

Singer Janelle Monae, actor Jamie Foxx and designer Tommy Hilfiger were among the honorees heralded at the 23rd annual Trumpet Awards.

The event was held Saturday at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre and will be aired Feb. 21 on TV One.

“I decided through fashion and music that I would challenge the status quo and redefine what it meant to be a black female artist,” the always snappily dressed Monae said.

Honorees also included MLB Hall of Famer Lou Brock, Carnival Corporation CEO Arnold W. Donald, PVH Foundation President Guy Vickers, R&B musical legends The Isley Brothers, Morehouse School of Medicine President Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice and Sunshine Holdings Chairman Franklyn R. Wilson.

The night was hosted by four-time boxing world champion Laila Ali and “The Biggest Loser” trainer Dolvett Quince. Honoree presenters included Lou Gossett Jr., Roland Martin, Quvenzhane Wallis, Egypt Sherrod, Cathy Hughes, Naturi Naughton and Laz Alonso.

The Trumpet Awards featured musical performances by Avery Sunshine, Chante Moore, Leela James,ConFunkShun, The Bar-Kays, former “American Idol” champ Ruben Studdard and Debora Cox, who performed for the Whitney Houston Biopic “Whitney.”

Home after the #trumpetawards. I am so thankful. So humbled. Lot more work. Lot more responsibility. Thank you to the legendary and incredible Xernona Clayton and everyone apart of the Trumpet Awards.

"It's not that I don't experience fear but I understand fearlessness is more important. It's not that I don't get tired but I realize standing up for those whose voices are often ignored has to come first. It's not that I don't get discouraged but I understand that working hard, being a champion for minorities & those marginalized across the world as well as Opening up more doors for girls has to come first."

"I want to be honest about what was happening before i became Janelle Monáe and a @covergirl .
When I started my music career in Kansas, I was a maid. I worked at blockbuster and slept in my mentor’s 8-year-old daughter’s bedroom in Atlanta until I could afford a place to stay.

I started off selling CDs out of the boarding house I lived in. I started off singing on the library steps in the Atlanta University Center for anyone who would listen. I was told no. I'm still her."

"Who knows where I will go or what I will do from here. I do know I have plenty of Big ideas. I have made and will make some avoidable & unavoidable mistakes, but I hope my life and work here on Earth will motivate those around me to find their purpose."

    On Mac Viva Glam:

"It is about not being afraid to speak up. This is a conversation that needs to be started, especially with my generation, because [HIV-AIDS] is not something that is hyper talked about. There used to be such hysteria around it and people didn’t know what was causing it or what to say. Now we have so much knowledge that it is time to have the discussion about how we can help those who are affected and talk about how to prevent it. I am around so many young girls and boys and really in front of the LGBT [Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender] community and HIV is not stereotyped to one sexual preference. MAC is doing an amazing documentary that shares the actual stories of people like you or me with HIV who look completely healthy. Twenty percent of people affected don’t know it; this is something that we all have to protect ourselves from. If a lot of my fans go out there and buy the lipsticks and that has something to do with seeing a cure for HIV-AIDS in our lifetime, that would be really cool."

    On makeup and bad skin:

"I had someone doing my makeup every day for television. I think they want you to look a certain way, but they don’t take in the fact that you are 13 so you don’t need the same makeup that you would later in life. They forgot that I was a bee-bee. [laughs] But I was [also] really insecure with my skin then. I had bad skin, so I needed foundation and powder. I never wanted to wash my face because I didn’t want to see myself without the makeup. As I got older, I realized it was a vicious cycle. Once you take care of your skin and keep it clean, it is so much easier. I was about as much cake face as I could have when I was younger and now I try to avoid that. I love [my Viva Glam] lipstick because you can wear it with nothing on your skin except a little shimmer and it looks cool. I love glitter on my face and body at all times."

Visiting the Los Angeles LGBT Center

CEO Lorri L. Jean on Miley:

“I was quite impressed by Miley and by her genuine passion to help homeless youth,” said Center CEO Lorri L. Jean, “as well as her concern for the growing HIV infection rate among gay and bisexual young people. It’s a huge concern here in Los Angeles where 87% of those living with HIV are gay or bisexual males and a staggering 40% of homeless youth are LGBT. I’m grateful for the attention she’s bringing to the issue and look forward to working with her.”

Endemol Shine North America announced that they are planning to do an American remake of the British sci-fi series .

Endemol is also working on remake of My Mad Fat Diary (I made a post about it last February).

That's the third remake announced today (Cuckoo by NBC and The Driver by Showtime).

Another needless US remake. Will they keep the pig storyline ? ;)

In a followup to this morning's post, I thought it would be a nice PSA to share this blog from an OB/GYN that has been making the rounds (it was featured on BANNED SOURCE People). Dr. Jen Gunter says that steam is in no way beneficial to your vagina and suggests Ms. Paltrow could use an anatomy lesson since you'd need, like, a high powered hose in order for the steam to reach your uterus, okay. And that would absolutely be bad. Herbal steams are also potentially damaging.

I suggest checking out the source and reading the full post, b/c that's one salty OB/GYN. Can we get her on Married to Medicine pls?

"I don't think I'm so much of an expert on the game of football, but I can assure everyone in here, nothing in my performance will be deflated," she said at a press conference on Thursday, deflecting any controversy with ease.

Perry even got a few football-friendly digs in. "I'm just here so I don't get fined," she joke

Perry also said the majority of her halftime show will be sung live, although some pre-recorded tracking will be used to accommodate "a lot of graphic effects."

Mostly, the pop star said she's confident – and beyond ready. "I've been designing this show for months," she said. "It's a larger than life show. I've collaborated on everything. There is not a diamond on a shoe that has not gone past my eyes. I'm so prepared for this show that I even had time for Netflix the other night."

Perry's entire performance is a never-before-seen experience, according to Hamish Hamilton, television director for the show.

"Katy does reinvent herself. The music track is completely different, the staging elements are different," says Hamilton. "This is a brand-new show, brand-new soundtrack and a brand-new collaboration."

Russia has always been known for its piss poor attitude towards members of the lgbt(q) community, from the days of Tsarism to the recent LGBT propaganda law, commonly known as the 'anti-gay law'. In the USSR homosexuality was even considered a criminal offence. But a heart wants what it wants™, and despite the raging homophobes’ efforts, the gay would find a way.
This would be the case for Russian music industry. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, songs vaguely or openly mentioning LGBT finally saw the light of day. And some of them, despite the homophobia in the society, managed to become hits in (and outside of) Russia.
    1. t.A.T.u. - All The Things She Said (Ya soshla s uma), 2000

Ironically enough, the most (in)famous music duo Russia ever produced built their entire career around their alleged homosexuality. The song “Ya soshla s uma” (“I have gone crazy”), and its English version “All The Things She Said”, is a story about two young and confused girls who fell in love with each other. The song was so controversial, it became a huge hit right away and made every schoolgirl (and boy) in Russia question their sexuality. Needless to say, almost every song they released afterwards was also gay-oriented.
Now that we think about it in 2015, the whole thing was extremely problematic. The girls were underage and were forced into playing lesbians by their creepy producer Ivan Shapovalov; the music video featured a staged kiss as well as some panty flashing. Also, the good sis Yulia Volkova turned out to be a homophobe. Oh well, at least Lena Katina still supports the LGBT community.

    2. Ruki Vverh – On tebya celuyet (“He kisses you”),2002

Ruki Vverh was an extremely popular dance music duo every kid in the neighborhood jammed to in the 90s and the song "On tebya celuet" is one of their iconic songs and, most importantly, iconic music videos. We see a guy on a date with a mysterious girl, whose face is not disclosed until the end of the video, when we find out it’s actually a guy, and a drag queen no less. The video stars a Russian drag queen Anatolii Yevdokimov and a cute nameless twink and is probably the only Russian music video ever to feature a gay sex scene (although a very vague one).

    3. Oscar – Mezhdu mnoi i toboi (“Between you and me”), 2000

Oscar (real name Shamil Malkanduev) is a talented artist from Kabardino-Balkaria and this slow-tempo song is his most popular creation. In the song, the singer deliberately avoids using any words that would hint at the gender of the person he’s singing about, but the music video shows him and another guy. Oscar is Muslim and openly bisexual. Bless him.

    4. Gosti iz Buduschevo – Begi ot menya (“Run away from me”), 1999

Begi ot menya” was this dance music duo’s debut song that skyrocketed them to fame. It starts off very innocent, when suddenly in the second verse we realize the song is actually about a lesbian relationship. The music video emphasizes it by having the vocalist, Eva Polna, stare longingly at a girl in the bathroom and later engage in some touching with her. The vocalist, Eva Polna, also publicly came out as bisexual in 2001, but no one cared. Go figure.

    5. Nikolai Trubach & Boris Moiseev – Golubaya Luna (“the Blue Moon”), 1998

This song became a de-facto gay hymn in Russia because of how ridiculously popular it was. Although the song does not explicitly say ‘gay’ or anything along those lines, the name and the story heavily imply that it’s, in fact, about homosexuality (the word “blue” when applied to men means “gay” in Russian). The song, in a form of a fairy tale, tells a story about two brothers: the younger brother falls in love with a queen, whereas the older brother chooses the ‘miracle’. Everyone knows he will never be a ‘lady slayer’ and they blame the ‘blue moon’ for that. “And he has never been forgiven for this strange, strange love”. The fact that one of the two singers, Boris Moiseev, was openly gay at the time, added fuel to the fire. In 2010 he went back into closet after being 'out' for 8 years.

This Man, This Woman is an upcoming movie that just landed Penelope Cruz and Diane Kruger as its leads. It will be directed by Isabel Coixet (Nobody Wants the Night).

The script was written by Oscar winner Frederic Raphael (Eyes Wide Shut, Two for the Road), This Man, This Woman follows an estranged man, Matt Heller, and a woman, Martha Parks (Cruz) who encounter each other by chance on a plane, and relive memories of their turbulent romantic relationship. Kruger will play Kirsty Sachs, a talk show host who has an affair with Heller and who changes the course of his whirlwind relationship with Parks.

“It feels like a minor miracle to finally bring this passion of mine to the screen,” says Lobell, “and to put together this dream cast including the superbly talented Penelope Cruz and Diane Kruger who are the perfect actresses to bring these multi-layered characters to life. Combined with an extraordinary director to help realize Freddie’s amazing script, there must be a movie God after all.”

    paraphrased by me.
