Variety is reporting that six major actors are now in the running for Doctor Strange, after previous frontrunner Joaquin Phoenix has officially dropped out, and Marvel is now "aggressively searching" to fill the lead role with an intent to announce a casting choice very soon. According to the publication, Ewan McGregor, Jake Gyllenhaal, Oscar Isaac, Jared Leto, Ethan Hawke, and Matthew McConaughey are now being considered or pushing hard for the big role.

The Variety report states that Leto is "aggressively pursuing the mystical part since Phoenix's departure," while Gyllenhaal is "quite interested in playing a superhero after a string of dark, brooding films." It also notes that Marvel thinks it can draw McConaughey after previously drawing interest from Phoenix, while Ewan McGregor is expected to meet with the studio about the role.

10 (5) Things You Should Know About the Muddy Brad Pitt Action Movie

fury-review
War is hell. This much we know is true.
It's also the fodder for prestige action movies like "Fury," about a small team of men who pilot and maneuver the titular tank in the waning days of World War II, where Hitler's Germany acted like a scared and wounded dog -- all teeth and matted fur and ferocious intent. Brad Pitt leads the platoon, which is stocked handily with fine actors like Jon Bernthal, Logan Lerman, Shia LeBeouf (who lost a tooth and cut his face for the role) and Michael Pena.
Instead of a world-saving mission, these good ole boys are more interested in just surviving until the war officially concludes (a task that seems doable until, well, things go to hell). But does this rise out of the flames of war, triumphant? Or burn before it reaches the finish line? Read on to find out!

1. This Is Not 'Inglourious Basterds 2' (Unfortunately)
The last time Brad Pitt was in the Nazi-killing mood, he joined up with the "Inglourious Basterds" for Quentin Tarantino. That film, which might be the filmmaker's very best, was fun and unexpected and formally ambitious. This is not that movie. Not by a long shot. It's much more structured and traditional and "gritty." If you're expecting another gay wartime romp like "Inglourious Basterds," think again. You should probably just watch "Inglourious Basterds." That movie is a masterpiece.
2. It's Incredibly Violent
What is kind of shocking, if we're continuing on this lazy "Inglourious Basterds" comparison tract, which I am more than happy to do, is that "Fury" is more violent than "Inglourious Basterds." While 'Basterds' had those gruesome scalpings and a couple of splashy executions, "Fury" is almost wall-to-wall gore, an unending cascade of red. In fact, the opening moments of the movie involve Brad Pitt launching out of the titular tank and stabbing a German in the face. While this is a pretty abrasive way to start a movie, it certainly sets the tone that the rest of the movie follows.

3. The Supporting Cast Is Uniformly Terrific...
Listen, everybody in "Fury" (the movie and the tank) is terrific. These are actors doing some capital-A acting, with the cast going through a rigorous boot camp experience that seems to have systematically broken them down and built them back up. (There's also the incident when some of the guys beat up Scott Eastwood because he spit on their tank.) They are caked in mud and scared with the wounds of war (some of them quite literally -- Shia cut himself). But alas...

4. ...Although They Don't Have Much to Do
...These are characters who you'd probably see on any black-and-white war movie that they play late at night on TCM (except with more cursing and without the genial introduction). There's the guy with the mysterious past, the guy who reads the Bible a lot, the Mexican guy, the new guy, and the borderline psychopath guy (that's Bernthal, bumming everyone out after playing such an effervescent character in "Wolf of Wall Street"). These are stock characters, through and through, more two-dimensional than any animated sprite.

5. Clichés Riddle the Tank as Much as Bullets
And the characters' lack of depth speaks to the overall banality of "Fury." It's full of raging war movie clichés, and while the filmmakers clearly try to give it a gritty, harsher feel (hence all of that bloody violence), it feels just as phony as any of the classic war pictures. It's insanely been-there, fought-that, and, just to roll out the "Inglourious Basterds" analogy one last time, lacking in that film's unpredictability and willingness to deconstruct the war movie genre with gleeful abandon. "Fury" sticks to its guns. And it's a drag.

+Michael Pena Interview because he is perfect

David Ayer’s Fury is one of the Fall’s most anticipated films, and for good reason. It features a terrific cast and tells the exciting story of a World War II tank crew that ventures into Germany to take out what is left of the Nazis. Among the actors in the cast is Michael Pena, who plays Trini Garcia, the tank’s driver and one of the 350,000 Mexican Americans who served during World War II.
Pena has proven to be one of the most versatile actors working today, having played a wide variety of roles in movies like the Oscar winning Crash, Observe and Report, American Hustle and World Trade Center. So, it was a real honor talking with him when he arrived at the Sony Pictures Studio in Culver City, California, to discuss Fury during the film’s press day.
Over the course of our interview, we spoke about the boot camp that he and the other actors went through before filming, how his working relationship with Ayer has evolved since they worked together on End Of Watch, and what we should expect from Ant-Man.
Check out our exclusive interview in the video above and be sure to catch Fury when it rolls into theatres this Friday.

Courtney Stodden Kids Plans -
A few days ago Courtney Stodden instagrammed a photo of Sandra Bullock's son, Louis, with the caption:
Sandra Bullock's baby Louis is everything #iwant #socute
Now that Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchison are back together, she is looking ahead to what’s next — and it sounds like there are babies on the brain! The newly re-engaged 20-year-old recently indicated she has some major baby fever by posting about her “sweetest” interaction with a little boy and later by joking that she “wants” Sandra Bullock’s son.
Then she got a bit more specific about her plans when asking followers to guess the No. 1 thing on her bucket list. She confirmed that goal is to adopt a baby by retweeting and following the person who guessed correctly. Although she didn’t mention any kind of time frame, even talking about her plans to have kids is more than Courtney was willing to do in the past — which seemed to be an issue for her and Doug.

Madonna's Daughter Lourdes Trades In Posh Lifestyle for a BUNK BED in a SHARED Dorm Room!

She is following in the footsteps of her famous mother by attending her old college, The University Of Michigan.

But despite her privileged upbringing, it seems Lourdes Leon is certainly no Material Girl.

In a stark contrast to her mother's mansions, the teen, who turns 18 this week, currently shares a simple bunk bed with a fellow student in a tiny box dormitory.

While living with her superstar mother she would have been used to a life of private chefs and glamourous restaurants - here she eats at a noisy canteen, filled with hundreds of students, where pizza, pasta and burgers make up a mundane menu.

In an exclusive look at Lourdes new college life, the MailOnline can reveal the down-to-earth teenager has been using the nickname Lola, her mother gave her when she was younger, to help blend in.

Speaking to the MailOnline a fellow student said: 'She's not as sociable as many people would have thought and she couldn't be more different from Madonna's huge persona.' The pal added: 'Every day that passes she's slowly coming out of her shell.

'There's no diva behavior or anything like that. She's really aware how people might judge her and doesn't want a bad reputation.'

The first photographs of Lourdes as a student show her ditching her fashionable roots in an attempt to fit in with student life.

But despite having such an extraordinary gift, a friend told MailOnline she 'couldn't be more different' than her mum and is actually very shy, even introducing herself as 'Lola' when meeting new friends to avoid them picking up her identity straight away.

It's a sentiment echoed by her flatmates at Bursley Hall who Lourdes spends most of her time with when she isn't visiting family in New York on weekends.

The residence, where shared rooms are limited to enough space for a futon and bathroom, cost from $8,000 to $14,000 per academic year. The dining hall menu serves three times daily for the 1,270 students in the complex.

Options for breakfast include pancakes, oatmeal and omelets, while lunch dishes up chowder, salads and pizza, and dinner consists of fish, burgers and pastas. A source said: 'She's really enjoying her time in Michigan and meeting new people. However she does get homesick so travels most weekends.

'She's balancing her studies pretty well for the time being but there's a worry that might not last.

'There's no real pressure on her to finish the three year course but she's really committed to doing it.' Lourdes is not legally allowed to drink alcohol but it doesn't stop pals inviting her to fraternity parties in the trendier areas of Ann Arbor.

Blake Lively's lawyers want Gawker to take down post that claims she's inspired by slave owners

Yesterday, the Internet went ape shit after Blake Lively‘s Martha Stewart-Goop blog Preserve told everybody that the hot look fashion for fall is a plantation owner wife or the mistress of cotton mill owner who made his fortune off the backs of free labor so his lineage could have generational wealth and opportunities afforded them while complaining racism doesn’t exist anymore because black people have their own television network and go to college now and donating money to political parties who vow to keep their money where it belongs: out of the hands of their workers. Check out this sassy look!

Georgia peaches, sweet tea, and the enticement of a smooth twang…we all love a bit of southern charm. These regional mainstays evoke an unparalleled warmth and authenticity in style and tradition. The term “Southern Belle” came to fruition during the Antebellum period, acknowledging women with an inherent social distinction[—being white—]who set the standards for style and appearance. These women epitomized Southern hospitality with a cultivation of beauty and grace, but even more with a captivating and magnetic sensibility. While at times depicted as coy, these belles of the ball, in actuality could command [the hundreds of human beings that they owned, and also] attention with the ease of a hummingbird relishing a pastoral bloom. Like the debutantes of yesteryear, the authenticity and allure still ring true today. Hoop skirts are replaced by flared and pleated A-lines; oversized straw toppers are transformed into wide-brimmed floppy hats and wool fedoras. The prowess of artful layering— the southern way —lies in inadvertent combinations. From menswear-inspired overcoats to the fluidity of soft flowing separates, wrap yourself up in tactile layers that elicit a true sense of seasonal lure. Embrace the season and the magic below the Mason-Dixon with styles as theatric as a Dixie drawl.

(parentheticals were added by Gawker).

The post doesn’t say if you get a free human that you get to subjugate and use as your personal property or not, and to be honest, that kinda takes the fun out of it. Slavery was fun! And everybody was really stylish and rich, because you can be when you don’t have to worry about paying your workforce! Imagine how much more stuff Wal-Mart could buy from China if they didn’t have to pay for stupid crap like fair wages and health insurance or operate without pesky government interference? We could have Wal-Marts on the moon by now! I don’t know why people get so sensitive and PC about it now. People like Blake’s lawyers. They wrote Gawker a strongly worded letter claiming they painted her in a “false light” in a “deliberately, unprotected, and actionably false attack”. Man, that sounds a lot like slavery.

Nicki Minaj goes classic with her bob haircut on the cover of L’Uomo Vogue‘s October 2014 issue.

The 31-year-old rapper was photographed by Francesco Carrozzini and styled by Rushka Bergman for the super chic photo shoot.

“At first no one took me seriously. In the world of rap, women are usually relegated to the choir,” Nicki shared with the magazine. “I want to build my empire. In my field, I have always seen men do it –- from Diddy to Dr. Dre to Jay Z. Now it’s a woman’s turn.”

Nicki also said that seeing Beyonce gives her the hope to have a family in the future.

“Seeing Beyonce with her daughter and husband was so tender, and it showed me that it is possible to be an animal on stage and a caring mother at the same time,” she said.

FYI: Nicki is wearing a Dsquared2 suit and shirt with an Oliver Grant tie on the cover.

ONTD, do you think Nicki would make a good mom?

Jennifer Lawrence: Gluten-Free is "the New Cool Eating Disorder"

jlawd

These days, diets could almost be split in two camps: those who are gluten free and those who aren’t. In a new interview with Vanity Fair, “The Hunger Games” actress Jennifer Lawrence puts herself firmly in the bread-and-pasta crowd, telling writer Sam Kashner she ate spaghetti and meatballs for breakfast the day of their interview. She goes on to describe gluten-free as “the new cool eating disorder, the ‘basically I just don’t eat carbs.’”

Her stance could be seen as throwing shade at Gwyneth Paltrow, the ex-wife of Lawrence’s rumored boyfriend, Chris Martin. "Everyone in my family is intolerant to gluten and cow dairy," Paltrow told integrative physician Dr. Frank Lipman of Eleven Eleven Wellness Center in New York when the book was released. "We had the food sensitivities test and the doctor told us to avoid these foods and sugar as much as possible.”

“Cutting out any large category of food can be a red flag that someone may be headed towards disordered eating or an eating disorder,” says Willow Jarosh, RD. “If someone is slowly cutting out various categories of foods without replacing them with alternatives, then that would signal a potential problem regarding their relationship with food and potential disordered eating.”

Whoa! Zach Galifianakis has apparently been working on his physique. The Hangover actor, who hasn't made an official public appearance since Oct. 2013, reemerged at a screening of Birdman Or The Unexpected Virtue Of Ignorance at the closing night of the New York Film Festival in New York City on Sunday, Oct. 12, looking significantly slimmer.

"Being a celebrity is shit — it's dumb, and I'm not interested in it," he said. "I like to be an actor, and that's it. The blurred lines are, I think, man-made. I think celebrity is a man-made thing; it's not innate in us… I'd rather just do my work and go home and watch Lifetime."

"It's confusing to me — all of this is confusing to me. They oversell it like we're curing cancer, you know what I mean? I just think it can be gross sometimes, the way Hollywood congratulates itself all the time."

welp, my friend saw him filming in asheville and said he looked a lot thinner in person than on the screen. guess this is why.

Anne Curtis mulls over Hollywood career + her US film debut, Blood Ransom

$

“Sure, a lot of actors would love to go to Hollywood and try out for roles, but it’s so hard to leave what I have here,” said Anne Curtis, when asked if she was entertaining thoughts of pursuing an international career, now that her US film is about to hit the theaters.

Curtis, who has dabbled in just about everything local show biz has to offer, said she was happy with all the things she had accomplished in the country. “I’m worried about giving up something that is already so stable,” Curtis told reporters at the recent press conference for “Blood Ransom.”

Also in the event was her leading man, American actor Alexander Dreymon, who played a recurring character in the third season of the FX series “American Horror Story.”

Though she expressed interest in auditioning or taking up acting classes abroad, Curtis said she was bound by her show biz commitments here.

“I have ‘It’s Showtime’ … I get to have only a month [of] vacation. I was just lucky that Viva and ABS-CBN allowed me to do this project,” Curtis said.

Asked how she landed the lead role in the movie, Curtis said, “My friend Sam Richelle asked me if I’d be willing to send an audition tape for a film to be shot in the United States. I gave it a shot.”

“Blood Ransom,” a paranormal romance-thriller movie, was shot and directed two years ago by Filipino-American director Francis de la Torre of Tectonic Films in California. In the trailer shown to the press, Curtis’ character, Crystal, seemingly turns into a vampire.

“I’ve done comedy and drama films, but not suspense-thrillers like ‘Blood Ransom,’” Curtis said. “This is so different from my past films.”

Although shooting was done almost every day for a month, Curtis said she did not get too exhausted because working hours in the United States were regulated—unlike in local show biz. “They make sure that we get enough sleep,” said Curtis, who is now a member of the Screen Actors Guild.

Things went smoothly, Curtis said, save for an awkward moment when filming an intimate scene with Dreymon, who plays Jeremiah, Crystal’s kidnapper and would-be lover. “Our director kept telling me that he wanted our kiss to be more passionate,” Curtis said. “Apparently, he wanted us to French kiss!”

She continued, “I was a little taken aback because we don’t usually do that here. But I was assured it would be tastefully done.”

Working on “Blood Ransom” was fruitful, Curtis said, adding that she was not in it for the money, but for the experience. “I hope to do similar projects in the future,” she said. “I rarely audition nowadays, so I felt like a newbie in a way. I was inspired to learn more.”

“Blood Ransom” premieres on Oct. 29 in the Philippines and Oct. 31 in the United States. “I’ll fly there (US) and stay for a week to promote the movie,” Curtis said.

AHS: FREAK SHOW --- Is this Kathy Bates' last season? --- VIEWING POST!

$

Kathy Bates and Jessica Lange could both be gone off of American Horror Story after the current season. But not if co-creator Ryan Murphy has his way!

Murphy revealed that he has asked only three cast members so far to return for the show's fifth season, which was just given the official green light by FX.

We knew Lange and Sarah Paulson had been approached, and now, Bates confirms she has been, too. But will she do it? Or is it time to take a breather?

"I love getting these fantastic characters to play," Bates tells us, "and Ryan's told me that he wants me to come back next year and it's getting hard to refuse, let me tell you! Everything's grown so much even since last year. It's amazing. I can't believe it."
Mmm-hmm. Right. So then. Don't leave!

Bates is one-third of what is shaping up to be TV's weirdest/freakiest love triangle, and viewers will get the first glimpse of it on AHS tonight.

Really, it's your typical boy meets girl story. Or rather, girl meets girl with a beard, knocks her up, and then falls in love with a hermaphrodite with three boobs.

We've all been there.

Tonight, we are introduced to newcomer Michael Chiklis, and his main squeeze, Angela Basset (the hermaphrodite). They come into the fold when their trailer rolls on up to Elsa Mars' freak show camp, and let's just say….Kathy Bates is NOT pleased. And for good reason!

"I have to say, I've played a lot of dark characters in my career and this guy is the most damaged and haunted and disturbed person I've ever played by far," Chiklis says of his character, Del Tolledo, The Strongman who clearly has interesting taste in women. "To put it delicately, he is a really confused and complex person who is ironically a strong man because in many ways, he's not strong at all. There's a lot of bravado and interestingly...There's a lot of fragility there. You have to rely on your physical strength to make a living and if anything happens to that, where are you?"

5 Songs Actually About Courtney Love: Foo Fighters, Nine Inch Nails and...Gwen Stefani(?)

$
0
0
marilyn-manson-courtney-love-premiere-screening-of-fxs-sons-of-anarchy

Courtney Love has an interesting little black book. Having dated individuals such as Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins and Trent Reznor at his Nine Inch Nails' grimiest, it could easily be argued that Kurt Cobain was the most normative of her men. She must be doing something right to catch the allure of so many brilliant-if-bizarre alt-rock icons. In fact, she just told BBC 6 that most of the Pumpkins' classic album Siamese Dream is in fact about her.

"Yeah, loads, because there are so many of them that are about me. 'Siamese Dream,' 'Bodies,' 'Today.' He stopped writing about me, and then he stopped making hits," she said. "There's one on Siamese Dream called 'Spaceboy'...that's about his brother. But the rest are all pretty much about me."

Never mind that Corgan himself has attributed most of the songs to his then breakup with future wife Chris Fabian. That would make Love's claims of obsession basically true, except with regard to a totally different woman. Of course, the guitarist was also planning his own suicide throughout the recording process. So who knows what was going on with that guy.

Not to worry however. Plenty of performers, if not Corgan, have openly made songs about Love. And uh, none of them are very flattering. From the most to least obvious:

"Starfuckers, Inc." by Nine Inch Nails (1999)

Although Corgan's crush on Love kept on for years following their breakup, Reznor didn't share the same feelings. The Grammy-nominated track "Starfuckers, Inc." didn't specifically call out Love by name but it did feature an obese woman with a nose bandage (believed to be a reference to her then-recent plastic surgery) who finds herself submerged in human waste. Marilyn Manson is also rumored to be an inspiration for the song but he also appears in the video personally so at least he's in on the fun. Reznor's beef wasn't as simple as a bitter breakup: He also claims she went out of her way to ruin his friendship with Tori Amos. Speaking of which...

"Too Cool Queenie" by Stone Temple Pilots (2001)

Add Scott Weiland to the list of questionable choices that Love has spent time dating. Although the former Stone Temple Pilots vocalist has played the Carly Simon card and has never given a name to go with his tale of a woman driving a professional musician to suicide and "she made lots of money and some of his too" but...come on. If you can name anyone else who fills the description please let us know.

"Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani (2005)

This is actually one of the most verifiable cases of a song being about Love but still one of the most surprising. Because it was arguably the most popular song of 2004. Love decided that she was the hip rocker girl and Stefani was a "cheerleader" for her work in No Doubt. Gwen probably "lol'd" at this assessment and intentionally staged herself as a literal cheerleader, and one willing to fight with the woman on the other end of the insult.

For some strange and unfair reason, Nick Jonas’ Australian fans can buy the tracks “Teacher” and “Wilderness” – off Nick’s upcoming self-titled debut solo album out on November 11th – on iTunes Australia staring today (Oct. 14).

Click on the link below to listen to the songs, it won't let me link them....Wilderness is my JAM

I’ll have to eat my words of when I reviewed “Chains” a couple months ago and doubted that Nick could be successful with this JT-much sound. The sound fits Nick, but I just doubted he could connect with the general audience with it as he came from a too-pop world. “Jealous” is doing pretty good, and by the sound of the tracks we have heard so far, it seems "Nick Jonas" will be the album surprise of the year!
