Lorde Makes Time For Fans After Sold-Out Concert at Greek Theatre

Lorde is glowing while meeting up with her fans after her sold-out concert at the Greek Theatre on Tuesday (October 7) in Los Angeles.

“Had such a dream of a time across two sold-out nights at the greek. thankyou for such a warm welcome, los angeles ,” the 17-year-old singer tweeted the next day.

In case you didn’t know, Lorde‘s latest single “Yellow Flicker Beat” has debuted on the Billboard Alternative Songs charts at number 17, making it the highest launch by a female artist.

Lorde ‘South Park’ Response: It ‘Has A Message Of Transgender Acceptance’

New Zealand singer Lorde might not watch the Comedy Central show “South Park,” which commonly mocks celebrities and pop culture, but the teen was excited to “appear” on the show. The singer, whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor, took to Twitter after the cartoon used her likeness for an episode.

Her response to the show was surprising to some, since “South Park” was insinuating she’s actually a 45-year-old geologist from Colorado. In fact, she approved of the episode so much, she even posted several clips of the show to her Instagram account.

“This is actually surprisingly cute -- and from what I can tell also has a message of transgender acceptance (i'm still very new with this type of humour so i'm not sure if was actually genuine but it seemed so to me),” she wrote.

“Well sh*t this is downright sweet,” Lorde posted in another video of the show. “Take that haters I got a south park episode.”

Even though Lorde was able to see the good, the show has mocked her for two weeks with a storyline about how Stan’s dad Randy Marsh is actually the Grammy-winner. Randy created the Lorde alter ego when he wanted to use the women’s bathroom, Pitchfork wrote. While he was in there, he recorded some auto-tuned songs.

“South Park” airs on Comedy Central Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EDT.

South of Nowhere Alums Tackle Racism in inkSpot's Flagship Webseries The Unwritten Rules

$
0
0

South of Nowhere may have been short lived but at least some of the cast and crew have clearly remained close. The Unwritten Rules is a web series created by South of Nowhere’s former Post Production Supervisor Kim Williams. Based on a novel she wrote called 40 Hours and an Unwritten Rule:The diary of a Nigger, Negro, Colored, Black, African-American Woman, the series stars Aasha Davis as a young woman navigating racial politics in a predominantly white workplace. South of Nowhere fans will recognize Davis as Chelsea Lewis, Clay (and later Glen) Carlin’s girlfriend.

In The Unwritten rules, Davis, who apparently stopped aging at 25, imbues life and spirit into the character Raceyneisha Jones. Racey is the heart and soul of the series and spends a significant portion of the show especially in the first season working out her feelings and mulling over events in direct-to-camera diary sessions. Davis is engaging and versatile enough so that even if we don’t always agree with Racey, we feel her anger, empathize with her frustration, laugh with her, and root for her.

Gabrielle Christian, who played Spencer on South of Nowhere, portrays Lauren on The Unwritten Rules. Lauren is Racey’s “colorblind” and comically ignorant coworker whose sister Lizzie is a trans-racial adoptee. Christian plays Lauren with the same sort of wide-eyed sweetness she brought to Spencer Carlin and much like in life, you get the sense that she means well but nevertheless her ignorance can still sting.

Probably the most controversial cast member from South of Nowhere ironically, is Danso Gordon. Gordon played Spencer’s emotionally conflicted adoptive brother Clay Carlin, whose untimely demise was allegedly prompted by the actor’s religious beliefs and objections to the show’s portrayal of homosexuality. His character Travis in The Unwritten Rules is a member of a black employee organization that meets after work to air their grievances, which often has comedic results.

In season 3 Maeve Quinlan also known as the Carlin family matriarch Paula, guest stars as one of Racey’s favorite clients. Racey has handled her account over the phone for years but when they finally get a chance to meet, things quickly derail. Quinlan is not afraid to be a villain and pulls no punches in her portrayal of an unabashed bigot.

At times over-the-top and even surreal, The Unwritten Rules provides levity along with depth in its examination of how racial prejudices manifest in corporate environments. The cast does a great job of bringing Kim Williams’ words to life and it’s obvious they care about portraying their characters honestly. Besides the South of Nowhere veterans, there are a lot of standouts among the regular cast as well including: Racey’s hapless co-worker with a crush Peter, played by David Lowe, Racey’s prejudiced supervisor Kathy, played by Sara Finley and the mysterious CEO replacement Kaneisha, played by Lyn Ross.

The Unwritten Rules is currently finishing up its third season on Youtube.

Bonus: Gabrielle Christian’s hilarious paean to Mandy Musgrave.

Will and Racey thank you for your time.

Music Post! 7 (3) Artists Who Hate Their Songs

$
0

Most artists spend years writing songs in the hopes that one day they will craft a tune, their baby, that they will deliver to the world where it will become an instant classic. And then there are these artists. They hate their babies. Here's 7 artists that hate their own damn songs.

The Beatles-Let It Be

Supposedly The Beatles hated the album Let it Be so much that it's actually what broke up the band. Paul blamed prodeucer Phil Spector's 'Wall of Sound' production. But John gave Spector some credit "Given the sh***iest load of badly-recorded sh** with a lousy feeling to it ever, he made something of it." And that's what you call a master class in the back-handed compliment.

Lady Gaga-Telephone

The Biggest Monster is quoted saying "I hate ‘Telephone’. Is that terrible to say? It’s the song I have the most difficult time listening to.” She also hates the video. " Ican’t even watch the Telephone video, I hate it so much. Beyonce and I are great together, but there are so many ideas in that video and all I see in that video is my brain throbbing with ideas and I wish I had edited myself a little bit more." We all wish you would edit yourself a bit more, Gaga. I'd also like to take this opportunity to say I hate the Glee version of Telephone. The Kidz Bop one sucks too. That's all I think.

Oasis-Wonderwall

According to Oasis' lead singer Liam Gallagher "I can't f**king stand that f**king song! Every time I have to sing it I want to gag. Problem is, it was a big, big tune for us.You go to America and they're like: 'Are you Mr Wonderwall?' You want to chin someone." WHOA. I completely understand though. That's what I want to do anytime I see some sensitive type strumming it at a party surrounded by gullible chicks who think he's not just trying to get some.

Didn't Liam sang Wonderwall in the Olympic closing ceremony? Or was the brother?

Teresa Giudice says she sometimes regrets joining ‘Real Housewives’

The 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' star says only one fellow Housewife has texted her since her sentencing, and that she and husband Joe didn't pay tax liabilities before because they 'didn't have the money.'

She starts a 15-month prison term on Jan. 5 and when she gets out, Joe starts serving 41 months. They had both pleaded guilty to bank fraud charges and taken a plea deal Teresa said in an earlier part of the interview she didn't fully understand. She had no idea, she said, that she could actually go to prison. They also have considerable tax liabilities and since Joe isn't a U.S. citizen, he could face deportation proceedings after he finishes his prison term.

"I go back and forth," she said, noting several times that the downside was "you're scrutinized" by everybody in a way that non-TV people are not. She declined to answer when Cohen asked her if she thought her impending prison term was a result of being on "Real Housewives."

In response to another question on whether he has a drinking problem, Joe admitted, "A little bit." He can "drink two bottles (of wine) a night easy," he said, because "It helps me get to sleep. I don't wanna take a pill."

In contrast to the earlier portion of the interview, which was telecast Monday, Teresa said several times that she was "sorry for what I did. I take responsibility and I'm paying for it."

Teresa said that Dina Manzo was the only fellow Housewife who has texted her since the sentencing. She said Amber Marchese texted her before the sentencing and so did Jaqueline Laurita. She said she hadn't had time to read the texts. She said Kathy Wakile had not texted her.

nup-165756-0155-jpg

In an aside having little to do with the court case, Teresa backed off slightly on her assertion in court papers that everything on "Real Housewives" is scripted. "I didn't like the way I was portrayed as a villain" through the editing process, she said. But she did say specifically that the famous "flipping the table" moment "was my idea."

She said she has "grown" since the first season.

Ghost Stalkers Star John E.L. Tenney: "The Devil Is Real!"

$

Many wonder what happens after we die but John E.L. Tenney, a paranormal investigator and co-host of Destination America’s Ghost Stalkers, which premieres on Oct. 19, says he knows.

FOX411: So you say you died and came back when you were 17, take us through that.
John E.L. Tenney: When I was 17 years old, I went into cardiac arrest. I actually flat lined and died for two minutes. When you get to the three minute mark, that’s when you really start to have problems because that’s when brain death sets in. Something happened to me when I stopped living in this world, and I came back with a memory and experience that’s not the typical near-death experience.

FOX411: Were you given a choice to come back?
Tenney: So I died and when I was dead I was given a choice to either stay dead, or to come back to this reality. I just remember opening my eyes and being in the hospital. I guess my mission in life is now to find out where I was when I died, and if something happens with the persistence of life, and if we all die we go to some stranger place.

FOX411: You have gone to the Vatican to witness an exorcism. Do you think the devil exists?
Tenney: It’s very hard to not believe it. Not very many people are asked to sit in on an exorcism, and I was friends with the arch diesis in Detroit, so I actually got to sit-in and when you experience someone who starts speaking in multiple languages, you watch their face change. There’s a lot that seems like a movie but you’re watching it real-time in person.

FOX411: But couldn’t that be a person who is mentally ill or suffering from an affliction?
Tenney: Absolutely. The Vatican has a month long process of making sure that the person isn’t addicted to drugs, or has a mental disorder and they say this isn’t going to happen, this is going to happen and then one day you get a phone call that we have to do an exorcism.

Marvel's misfits are heading to the small screen!

The series, which will center on Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord), Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Raccoon and Groot, will debut in 2015 and be part of Disney XD's "Marvel Universe" block of programming.

"This is a very exciting time for the Marvel Animation Studio as we get to explore the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe by developing the first-ever Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy animated series," Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television, said in a statement. "After starring in the biggest movie of 2014, everyone wants more of Star-Lord and his crew—now they'll get it."

Cara Gee talks about 'Strange Empire' the feminist Western we never knew we wanted

Q: You play Kat Loving, a Métis woman struggling to survive in a frontier town. She's a badass female native hero...

A: I know!

Q: What's it like for you inhabiting that character?

A: It's the dream role of a lifetime. She's very strong, much stronger than me. I find her strength really inspiring. If I had to face the things she faces throughout this series, I would be curled up in a ball in the corner (laughes). She faces everything head-on.

Not without fear, but a lot of bravery and courage. She's fighting for justice the whole time, then that fight consumes her. It's brutal what she has to go through.

Q: She's a gunslinger. What was that like?

A: It was WAY too fun. I'm not big on guns in real life. But, oh my goodness, for pretend? It's a powerful feeling.

Q: Westerns are a genre plagued by a lot of stereotypical portrayals of Indigenous people. Does that baggage make it a challenge for you?

A: I've been asked quite a few times, "You're in a Western, isn't that cool, have you always wanted to be in a Western?'"

My answer is "No!" It’s not a genre I've ever gravitated toward because of those stereotypes. So, to be able to subvert the genre, and tell a side of the story that isn't told — that has been actively written over — is a huge responsibility. The genre is often nostalgic, and this isn't. This isn't an idyllic West full of the possibility of conquering. It's actually the other side of that, which we don't like to look at because it’s not pretty.

'American Horror Story’ Has Strong Return, Stephen King Approval

American Horror Story returned for its fourth season, Freak Show, and with it came the highest ratings for the series so far, as well as approval from acclaimed author Stephen King.

According to a report from Deadline, the premiere of American Horror Story: Freak Show drew in 6.127 million viewers and a 3.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That’s a 10 percent jump from last season’s Coven, which brought in 5.54 million during its premiere episode.

FX won’t release official numbers for the American Horror Story premiere until three days after its initial airing. The Coven premiere jumped to 7.27 million viewers three days after the live airing and 7.77 million after seven days.

Variety reports that each season of American Horror Story has seen a jump in viewers each year. The first season, Murder House, premiered with 3.18 million viewers and a 1.59 rating, while Asylum debuted with 3.85 million viewers and a 2.20 rating.

Last season’s Coven finale was the strongest for American Horror Story so far with 4.2 million viewers. The Live + 7 numbers had the ratings rise to more than 7.2 million overall viewers.

Freak Show also got the approval by acclaimed horror author Stephen King. King posted on his Twitter account that one other person might have enjoyed it, if he were still alive today.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Freak Show is supposed to be the final season for actress Jessica Lange. However, American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy said that may change.

“This is her favorite season, without question. I really want her to keep her hand in [future seasons]… Does that mean 13 episodes? Does that mean six? Does that mean one? She and I are probably going to have a dinner date when the holidays come.”

Murphy added that Lange might stick around if there is a character that she would like to play.

“It always starts with a character for Jessica, so I think I’d have to present her with something she was very interested in. Before, I was met with a really quick ‘No.’ Now, I’m hearing, ‘Well, let’s keep talking.’ So I thought that was a very good sign. “I think if I presented her with the right character, and it could work with her schedule, she might be interested. That’s my hope.”

American Horror Story: Freak Show airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on FX.

Fall 2014 TV Power Rankings

$
0
0

TV has become a year-round affair that’s nearly impossible to keep track of, with most of the best and our favorite shows airing anywhere but fall (Game of Thrones, Hannibal, Orphan Black, True Detective, Parks and Recreation). Aside from The Walking Dead, is there a must-watch show premiering this fall? Probably not, but I watched nearly EVERY new scripted TV show of the fall to find out for sure. What follows is the evidence that I survived the masochistic task: my unwieldy power rankings of the Fall 2014 TV season.

31. Forever (ABC)

Ioan Gruffudd might be the most boring actor on the planet, yet he keeps landing TV roles, his career seemingly as immortal as his title character in this dull show.

At one point during this derivative pilot, Henry (Gruffudd) explains to us in a droll monologue: “My life is just like yours, except for one small difference…it never ends.”

I live forever, no biggie guys. I’m just like you. You can empathize me, relate to my suffering. WHAT THE FUCK?! If an immortal prick tried to befriend me, the injustice would be that I couldn’t friggin’ kill him. My life is just likes yours, except I’m Brad Pitt. My life is just like yours, except I own an island. My life is just like yours, except I’m the orphan of a now extinct alien race.

Henry has “seen a lot,” but hasn’t learn shit about life or his condition over the last 200 years of his life. He just knows that when he dies, he wakes up in the nearest body of water naked, not a scratch on him. He’s Ichabod Crane/Sherlock Holmes without the charm or quirks. He’s understandably obsessed with death, so he works at a morgue along with Joel David Moore (Bones, Avatar), who has been neurotic and awkward as long as this show’s title (For-Ev-Er).

30. Manhattan Love Story (ABC)

“I want to write a love story set in Manhattan.”

“Oh my god, what a revolutionary idea, and even better, it already has a ready-made, totally informative, awesome title!”

“Love Story Set In Manhattan? Sounds awkward.”

“Manhattan Love Story, silly.”

“OMG, you’re right.”

A studio exec leans over the coffee table, spilling their mimosa. “Excuse me, did you say Manhattan Love Story? We’ll BUY IT!”

Manhattan Love Story sounds like a vague place holder title a writer would have on his To-Do list, or the bare bones plot description of this mostly dreadful pilot. But, I suppose it tells you all you need to know: not to watch it.

In the nightmarish opening moments, Peter (Jake McDorman) walks down the New York street, debating whether or not he’d have sex with the women along his path. Coming from the opposite direction is Dana (Analeigh Tipton), who’s doing the same thing…with purses (she’s debating whether she’d own them, not fuck them, I think). When they pass one another, they both essentially say “Yes” to each other, and this is their unfortunate story.

25. Red Band Society (FOX)

Because Fault of Our Stars was a YA sensation, the clear message to advertisers is this: young people love to watch young people die (I guess this is more or less true considering The Hunger Games and the string of dystopian successes). But Red Band Society uses this as a shortcut to feels and tragedy, rather than earning an audience’s emotional investment.

In a hospital that has a rooftop perfect for parties, a wealthy hypochondriac recluse who lives in one of the wings and gives dope to kids (An American Werewolf in London‘s Griffin Dunne, actually giving the show a breath of funky fresh air) and attractive doctors, lives a group of kids of various socioeconomic backgrounds, ages, and diseases. They are the Red Band Society.

23. Stalker (CBS)

Kevin Williamson has forever cemented his place in my heart with Dawson’s Creek, but Stalker continues a disturbing trend of horror-shock entertainment, akin to The Following.

We open with a hooded stalker with creepy slits in his mask burning a woman alive in her car. This case is forwarded to LA’s Threat Assessment Unit, where Beth Davis (Maggie Q) and her team excel in tackling stalker cases. How To Make It In America‘s Victor Rasuk and True Blood‘s Mariana Klaveno are detectives with the thankless duty of holding case files and introducing them, while murmuring about how capable Beth is to the new guy Jack Larsen (Dylan McDermott), who’s hired to make sure the other detectives never have to leave the office. Jack was transferred from NY to LA because he slept with his boss’ wife, he has a big personality, and basically for being everything you personify in a Dylan McDermott character. Meaning: you hate him, just like Beth does when she first meets the lout; it’s slightly clever of Stalker to play with McDermott’s inherent hate-ability even if I question their methods. He’s a smart ass who makes inappropriate jokes (he transferred to LA to meet Scarlett Johansson, presumably a stalking victim) and admits to checking out Beth’s breasts; what’s not to love? Oh, he’s also tailing a blonde woman (Angel‘s Elisabeth Rohm) with a family, potentially a devious stalker himself.

Stalker is slick (because misogyny is cool, yo), mostly well-made, but do you really want to spend an hour watching men and women getting attacked? That’s just not the type of escapist entertainment I’m drawn to, and this show doesn’t posit itself as anything more than that.

'Saturday Night Live' women are mad about 'Weekend Update' going all-male

webconflead10f-1-web

Cecily Strong's replacement in the famed 'SNL' segment by Michael Che has ticked off Sasheer Zamata and others.

The latest shakeup on the Weekend Update desk is creating bad blood on the set of “Saturday Night Live.”

Confidenti@l is told female cast members are fuming that when Cecily Strong got the boot from the segment, she was replaced by a man — meaning there are no women on the show’s flagship sketch.

A spy overheard recent recruit Sasheer Zamata telling a pal she and some of the other players are outraged that the show’s longest-running segment is now all-male.

“She was saying that it’s bull---- that in 2014 there would be two males and no women in such a prominent position on the show,” said our eavesdropper. “She said that there should be at least one man and one woman or, if anything, two women.”

“She was incredulous about it,” the source said of Zamata, who joined the show in January. “It’s obviously something that she feels very passionately about. She said they think it’s unfair.”

Strong took her seat next to long-running Weekend Update host Seth Meyers in September 2013, and she stayed put when Meyers left for “Late Night” and was replaced by Colin Jost. She was dropped from the role over the summer break, and Michael Che took her place when the season began last month.

Baby Daddy Bombshell! O.J. Simpson Slept With Kris Jenner, Transsexual Lover Claims

oj-simpson-transsexual-lover-khloe-kardashian-kris-jenner-pp-sl

Is he or isn’t he? Allegations that O.J. Simpson is Khloe Kardashian’s real father have swirled for years, but RadarOnline.com has learned that mom Kris Jenner is about to be rocked with the most explosive allegation yet: According to a woman who claims to be Simpson’s transsexual prison lover, Jenner and Simpson did sleep together, and Simpson believed that he — and not Kardashian’s legal father Robert — could be Kardashian’s biological dad! Only Radar has the bombshell video of the woman making the new claims.

As Radar has reported, HIV-positive former prostitute Jazmena Jameson told The National ENQUIRER that she had several sexual romps with the disgraced NFL star while the two were incarcerated at Nevada’s Lovelock Correctional Center. In between the flirtation and alleged oral sex, the transsexual says in a shocking new video, Simpson made a jaw-dropping confession.

“I remember just as clear as yesterday, he would laugh about [the rumors he was Khloe’s dad],” Jameson said. “And yes he said he slept with the woman [Kris Jenner], the mom and stuff … and she knows it.”

“I think that he thinks that [Khloe] could be his baby,” Jameson continued. “That’s just what I sense.”

“But he probably doesn’t want to do no test,” Jameson explained.

Rumors of Khloe’s real father first surfaced with a vengeance last fall, when Simpson’s former manager Norm Pardo said in an interview that the truth “is going to come out sooner or later.”

For her part, Jenner has previously insisted the claims were “an absolute lie and not true.”

“I have never had an affair with O.J. Simpson,” she said when the rumors first surfaced.

Filming in San Francisco for the second season of Looking — the HBO drama centering around three gay men — is in full swing. With a cast and crew that's hooked on Instagram, it's easy to keep up with the goings-on of Jonathan Groff, Andrew Haigh, Raul Castillo, Michael Lannan, Murray Bartlett, Russell Tovey, Frankie J. Alvarez, and Lauren Weedman (and a few hairy new players, including Mean Girls' Daniel Franzese).

It's hard to glean much about the plot points in season 2 from the pics, but we know one thing: the gay love triangle between Jonathan Groff's character, his boss, and his boyfriend isn't going anywhere. Take a peek below:

Chris Brown's tattoo artist shot dead in broad daylight

A disrespectful remark caused the fist fight that led to the fatal shooting of famed LA tattoo artist Trigz in Los Angeles, claims the manager of the store where the lethal brawl broke out.

According to the manager, Trigz, whose real name is Michael Christopher Pebley, was minding his own business in the Black Derby Smoke Shop on Thursday afternoon when an apparent stranger upset him with a pointed remark leaving the store.

Pebley, who was sitting talking to the store owner, was angered and approached the man, "getting in his face," which sparked a 30-second fight inside, which eventually spilled onto the sidewalk and ended with Pebley being fatally shot outside the neighboring Tattoo & Body Piercing parlor.

"The suspect was already shopping inside when Pebley walked in and sat down to talk to the owner," said manager James Mayen, who has also watched the security footage of the fight from Thursday. "The suspect is making his way out of the store when he turns to Pebley and says something, which makes Pebley leave his chair and walk straight over to him.

"He gets in his face and the two begin arguing, which quickly descends into a huge fight inside, which then spills outside."

Christ, I feel so badly for his children. It's funny how macho dick shit like this constantly goes on and yet it's feminism that's more threatening to men.

They can play coy for as long as they want, but there's no denying Ariana Grande and Big Sean are an item... Especially now that they're buying each other jewelry!
Just a few days after the duo was spotted kissing at Universal Studios in Hollywood, we found they've also been sporting matching necklaces.

Big Sean has been rocking a lion pendant on a gold chain since he hit it big in the industry, and it seems he made things official with Grande by giving her a mini version of her own!

The songstress took to Instagram earlier this week to share a selfie, and you can clearly see the gold necklace. A source tells E! News that the gift represents her "special connection" with her rapper beau.

"Big Sean and Ariana Grande have been spending a lot of time together over the past few months," the source explains. "He got her that necklace because he felt that it represents a special meaning between both of them. Ariana would always compliment him on his necklace and when he got it for her it was his special gift. She loved it!"

Big Sean's lion chain has been a staple piece to his wardrobe--In fact, it was the first real chain he bought himself. In 2012, he told GQ, "The lion is just king of everything, man. The lion doesn't take any shit from anybody. It's well-respected, cares about his family...know what I'm saying? It just really represents me perfectly, man... It's very strong, everything I want to be—everything I am, rather."

So, if I'm reading between the lines here, it seems the rapper is showing the world Ariana is a part of his family... His lioness, his queen!

Meanwhile, both artists have maintained a low-key profile when it comes to their "situation," not giving anyone a hard yes or no about whether or not they're a couple.
