Catherine Zeta-Jones Cast As Colombian Drug Lord In New Film
The true crime story of Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco is coming to the big screen in a new biopic called The Godmother.
Blanco earned the nicknames La Madrina, Black Widow, and the Cocaine Godmother because of her violent role in the drug wars of the 1980s. Born in Cartagena, Colombia, Blanco emigrated to New York City, where she began a cocaine business with her husband. She later moved to Miami, where she built a billion-dollar empire before the age of 40. In 1985, her world came crumbling down. Authorities arrested Blanco, and she served 18 years in prison before her release in 2004. In 2012, a gunman shot her down in a motorcycle assassination in Colombia.
According to The Washington Post, Blanco's fearsome demeanor even inspired the character of Tony Montana from Scarface, and Jada Pinkett-Smith's Gotham character, Fish Mooney.
You might be wondering who's been cast to play the lead role. Blanco — although a criminal — provides one of the few opportunities for a Latina to take the lead in a powerful, challenging role in a major Hollywood production. Eva Longoria? Maybe Kate del Castillo? How about Morena Baccarin? Or even fellow ColombianaCatalina Sandino Moreno? Word had it that even J.Lo was hungry for the role. Given the amount of talented Latina actresses in the business today, the possibilities are truly endless.
Unfortunately, none of those women have been cast. Instead, filmmakers chose Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones to play the notorious Colombian kingpin.
Of course, many non-Latinos have been cast as one in the past. Al Pacino infamously portrayed Tony Montana in Scarface, Meryl Streep played Clara in the movie version of Isabel Allende's celebrated novel The House of the Spirits, and Madonna played Evita in the musical biopic of her life.
Twitter reactions to the casting proved to be mixed.
"Catherine Zeta-Jones looks NOTHING like Griselda Blanco," tweeted Twitter user SirCoach. "You mean to tell me we got NO up & coming Colombians to play that role? Smh."
"Wish there was a Latina in this role, still excited for the story though," wrote Hillary Crosley.

The most dangerous cyber celebrity of 2014 is ...
Nearly one of every five online searches for "Jimmy Kimmel" can lead Internet surfers to websites where identity thieves and other nefarious types lurk, according to McAfee, a software unit of Intel Security.
The host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! supplanted Mirror, Mirror actress Lily Collins, who was last year's Most Dangerous Celebrity.
And the entire Kardashian clan, including Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, Kris Jenner and Kanye West, all of whom were high on the list last year, fell precipitously this time around. McAfee noted that the decline of the Kardashians coincided with the rise of rap mogul Jay Z and Jersey Shore star JWoww.
Another trend is a rise in the number of country and electronic dance music stars who represent online danger to Internet surfers, including Carrie Underwood and Calvin Harris.
In its research, McAfee says it conducted searches that simply consisted of a celebrity name, then other searches that paired the name with words like "downloads," "mp4" and "torrentz."
Experts say consumers ought to be especially careful in light of a scandal involving nude photos of celebrities being leaked online. "When it comes to hackers and identity thieves, we are all celebrities because our precious personal information is a hot commodity on the black market," says Adam Levin, founder of Identity Theft 911 and a security and privacy expert for McAfee's Tweet Chat series #SecChat.
"With the celebrity nude hack, it was a brute force attack on user names and passwords that was the culprit," he said.
Jimmy Kimmel captured the Internet's—and cybercriminals'—attention with laugh-worthy prank videos from his show Jimmy Kimmel Live! The late night host first debuted as a top 20 Dangerous Celeb in 2012, but the viral popularity his recent clips like "Twerking Fail Girl" and "I Told My Kids I Ate All Their Halloween Candy" make him the Most Dangerous Celebrity of 2014.

Singer, songwriter, fashion model, actress, and dancer—there's almost no industry Ciara hasn't conquered. High demand for music videos, pictures, and pop songs of the star make her the 3rd Most Dangerous Celebrity of 2014.

It could be his popularity on TV's The Voice, and a solid music career, but we can't ignore this year's gossipy tabloid headlines as a main ingredient in his search popularity.
7. Britney Spears
Britney Spears may not top Billboard's charts, but she definitely makes a dent in search engine traffic. Making her second consecutive appearance in the top 10, people searching for downloads of the pop star have made her a prime bait for cybercriminals everywhere.
10. Christina Aguilera
Joining fellow Voice coach Blake Shelton on the list, pop star Christina Aguilera rounds out our list of the celebrities who are most dangerous to search online at number 10. What put her on the list? Searches for steamy photos, free music downloads, and news of her recent pregnancy are hot topics—for cybercriminals—and her fans.

Let's be honest, Lindsay Lohan's stage debut last night was about greed. I do not mean that the play itself is about greed - though it is set in Hollywood, capital of covetousness.
But the casting of Miss Lohan, a vulnerable woman, a sometime star of advertising commercials and children's films, a lady with personal problems which have been splashed over every internet grot site and yellow-press scandal sheet, was the work of agents and producers and commercial sharks who thought they could turn a few quid.
Miss Lohan plays a secretary in Los Angeles, apparently an ingenue. Her husky voice does not help her in this endeavour. By any normal measure, what with her lack of fluency, her inexperience on stage, it would have seen her discarded at the first audition.
But here, in the trashy world we inhabit, is a celebrity. Here is a woman who can command (as this review no doubt shows) column inches.

Uncle Kelbo is not here for Sexy Selena
Jeff Garlin, who played Uncle Kelbo on the Disney Channel show, had some harsh words to say about the 22-year-old's image during his chat with HuffPost Live. "I worked with [Gomez] for three years, and I love her. She is, at least in terms of what I saw, a great kid," Garlin prefaced.
"But then I see her sexualized. When I see her sexualized, I look at her, and I look at this Ariana Grande... Both beautiful girls, but they have baby fat! They look like kids!"
Speaking on her bikini-clad role in the 2012 film Spring Breakers, the 52-year-old continued, "I'm by myself in the theater, and I couldn't have felt dirtier. Great bikini shots of Selena Gomez? I don't go there. I see the thing, but I see those chubby cheeks. She's a kid. This is disgusting that it's happening so young."

Jessie Ware Interview + Cruel Snippet
Jessie Ware is currently taking the music industry by storm and after performing an amazing iTunes Festival gig this month (interview was from Monday), as well as preparing for the release of her brand new album Tough Love on October 6 (actually Oct. 13th), EntertainmentWise caught up with the singer to talk working with Ed Sheeran, the hectic celebrity world and juggling her career with married life. Check out the full interview below.
You're about to release your brand new album Tough Love. Has all the success sunken in yet?
Yeah I guess so! I think I’ve still got a bit of work to do really but I feel good and it feels real but not ludicrous, like I still have a normal life, so it’s all good.
Tough Love is out next month, tell us a bit about it. Do you have a favourite song?
Yeah, I love Say You Love Me, which is a song that’s out at the moment and it’s a song I wrote with Ed Sheeran. I’m really proud of it and I think it’s a really great way to show a new side to my voice.
Your debut album was released in 2012 – would you say your music style has changed since then? Would you say you’ve also grown and become stronger as a person?
I think I have got more confident. I don’t think I’ve changed though, I think I’m probably a bit more decisive now. I feel like it [fame] has been really positive and I’ve learnt about myself a bit more and more about the artist I want to be.
Did you know when you got Ed Sheeran involved with your new single that it was going to be absolutely massive?
Well no, you never know when you’re in the room whether it will necessarily work and it’s all about chemistry whether they work and with another person it might not work. You just never know, and I was really keen to hang out with Ed anyway and if we managed to make a song, great. There was added pressure because he has such a crazy time schedule and we had such a short time. It was more like we’ll just see what happens and magic happened and it all worked out. I had faith in Ed but you never know if you’re going to work well together but we worked amazingly well together.
A massive congratulations, you got married recently! Would you say it’s quite hard having a relationship in the industry?
Yes and no. I mean, I’m so lucky that I’ve got somebody so supportive and he doesn’t get too angry when I’m away for long periods of time. I’m very lucky that he’s so supportive when I’m away for long periods of time. He joins me on the road sometimes, but he does have his own life to lead, so I have to accept that he can’t be with me all of the time.
Finally, we’ve mentioned a few things but what else is coming up in the near future?
My album’s coming out, then I’ll be doing another UK tour in January and just more touring next year.

NBC News Cameraman has Tested Positive for Ebola
An American freelance cameraman working for NBC News in Liberia has tested positive for Ebola and will be flown back to the U.S. for treatment.
The freelancer, Ashoka Mukpo, 33, was hired Tuesday to be a second cameraman for NBC News Chief Medical Editor and Correspondent Dr. Nancy Snyderman. Snyderman is with three other NBC News employees on assignment in Monrovia, reporting on the Ebola outbreak.
Mukpo came down with symptoms on Wednesday, feeling tired and achy. As part of a routine temperature check, he discovered he was running a slight fever. He immediately quarantined himself and sought medical advice. On Thursday morning, Mukpo went to a Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) treatment center to be tested for the virus. The positive result came back just under 12 hours later.
"The good news is this young man, our colleague, was admitted very, very early," Snyderman told Rachel Maddow Thursday evening. "He's in good spirits."
Snyderman added she and the other members of the NBC News team are feeling well and not showing symptoms of the Ebola virus but are going beyond CDC guidelines for their and others' safety.
Mukpo will be the fifth American infected with Ebola and evacuated from West Africa. He has been working in Liberia on various projects for the past three years.

Laguna Beach Turns 10 Years Old: Young Lauren Conrad And Kristin Cavallari Dish On Cutting Class!!!!
When you’re a high school kid in Laguna Beach, where every day is summer, motivating yourself to get to chemistry class can be particularly challenging. Just ask teenage Lauren Conrad or Kristin Cavallari.
Laguna Beach recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary, and in honor of this milestone occasion — as well as Throwback Thursday — we dug through archives to bring some priceless footage of LC and K-Cav during their audition. In the clips below, each discuss their shoddy attendance records.
“When you get senior year, it’s harder to go to school,” Lauren explains, adding that sometimes she’ll make it all the way to the parking lot before changing her mind and heading toward the shore.
Kristin also talks about the temptation of cutting class, especially because Laguna Beach High School’s 30-minute lunch period doesn’t offer nearly enough time to enjoy a proper midday meal. The cafeteria doesn’t even serve sashimi!
While we once thought these girls only had their love for Stephen Colletti in common, we can now add ditching out — just not with each other — to their short list of similarities.

Subway Called Out For Sexist Ad
Summer's over, but now we have to stay buff for ... Halloween season? That's the mood Subway hoped to capitalize on in a new ad, in which a woman asserts she has to eat healthy to fit into her sexy Halloween costumes.
Eating healthy is something everyone should do year round, but an ad playing on women's concern for their weight, coupled with an overabundance of very adult costumes (for a night that's traditionally about children) is causing controversy.
A man does appear in the ad, but he never moves from his seat and eventually is shown in a Viking costume for laughs. That's not quite the same as the woman, who cycles through several iterations of titillating costumes.
Not everyone thinks there's a lot of meat on this controversy sandwich, though.
"You don't have to read so into it," noted TODAY's Carson Daly on Friday.
Agreed TODAY's Matt Lauer, "I do think you need to at least look for the humor in it."
A Subway spokesperson told TODAY, "We understand that some people may not have picked up on the intended humor in our Halloween commercial. Our objective was certainly not to offend anyone."

Robert Downey Jr. Will Do Iron Man 4 If Mel Gibson Directs
Downey says he’ll do Iron Man 4 if Mel Gibson directs it. Hey, it worked for Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass.
The idea came up in Deadline‘s interview with Downey. After talking about whether more Iron Man films are on the horizon and why Gibson deserves another chance, the outlet offered a suggestion.
DEADLINE: Marvel badly wants Iron Man 4 and you’ve said you aren’t doing it. How about the idea you’ll do that movie if Mel directs it?
DOWNEY: Correct.
DEADLINE: Is that our headline?
DOWNEY: Why not? That movie would be bananas.
However, Downey is serious about wanting to help Gibson out. They’re close friends in real life. Gibson helped Downey through a low point and Downey, in turn, has publicly pleaded with Hollywood to forgive Gibson’s transgressions. (Watch the video at the bottom of this post for proof.)
Speaking to Deadline this time, Downey argued that Gibson had changed, then added: “But honestly we are talking about a competitive business and it all comes down to this: because he is so gifted as a story teller and a director, I don’t know that he requires some sort of mass forgiveness.”

Akon Performs In Giant Bubble To Avoid Catching Ebola In Africa
The good people of the Democratic Republic of Congo were treated to a performance put on by ‘Locked Up‘ singer Akon recently, taking to the country to watch him bring a number of his biggest hits to life in the city of Goma.
Unfortunately, if criticisms aimed the singer’s way hold any weight, his audience soon learned that they could look but not touch when he decided to crowd-surf in a giant bubble…in a reported bid to avoid catching the Ebola virus.
‘The Ebola virus is no joke,’ harrumphed The Source website. ‘And to avoid contracting it from anybody, when Akon left the stage to crowd surf with the people that were attending his concert, he did so in a huge plastic protective bubble.’

'Daredevil' title logo revealed
Next weekend, the cast and crew of Daredevil are taking over New York Comic-Con. It’ll be the first time they face the public and answer questions about the highly anticipated show, which will hit Netflix in 2015. To commemmorate the occasion, Marvel revealed a bunch of information about the appearance, along with the show’s official logo.
