Lady Gaga shades her discography, says Cheek 2 Cheek is her most important album to date

Cheek_to_Cheek_Standard_Edition_artwork

For her latest project, Mother Monster and the 88-year-old, who partnered for “The Lady Is A Tramp” in 2011, reunited to produce their jazzy collaborative album Cheek to Cheek.

“I just was shaking in my boots, really. I tell everyone that I kept a whiskey underneath my stool when I was recording with him in the studio because I was so nervous,” Gaga told On Air with Ryan Seacrest about her experience working with Tony. “I feel so humbled to be doing this project with him. This is, for me, the most important album I’ve ever made.”

Another man Gaga is crazy about — other than her boyfriend of three years Taylor Kinney — is pop-soul singer Sam Smith. Earlier this month, she mentioned the “Stay With Me” singer in a tweet and said she was reduced to tears after reading his emotional fan email.

After Ryan questioned the singer-songwriter about her obsession with the In the Lonely Hour artist, Gaga put her paws up and praised him for his musical caliber.

“He’s just tremendous and, you know, in tuned with what we are doing with Cheek to Cheek. Sam is a true musical artist, a true musician, there’s an organic-ness in his voice and the records that he’s made, and I really feel that this is the turn that music is going to take now,” she said. “After lots of this electronic sound that’s been trendy for awhile, I think everybody is hungry for something that’s more authentic, and more honest, and more human, and that’s why his voice is really connecting with the world. I’m so very happy for him. He really, really deserves all the accolades that he’s getting and I pray that he continues to be himself.”

Gaga and Tony’s Jazz fusion album Cheek to Cheek is now available for download on iTunes.

'Outlander' Round-Up: Photos from the Set & An Interview with Sam, Caitriona & EP Ron Moore

TVGuide.com recently traveled across the pond to the Scotland set of Outlander!
Our first stop upon arriving in the country's capital was the famous Edinburgh Castle. During the show's time period and the Jacobite Rising the castle was under siege by the Brits.

Beautiful Doune Castle stands in for the fictional Castle Leoch. According to our tour guide, only the exterior was filmed due to the fragility of the structure originally built in 1390. The tourist attraction was shut down for a month in November and then resumed after the winter for three weeks in March. Word quickly spread amongst the book's legion of fans, and visitors have since come from as far as San Francisco and Australia. From January through August this year, approximately 40,000 people have visited with the numbers up 15 percent thanks to the show.

Ádhamh ÓBroin, the Gaelic instructor on set, helps vet the accuracy of the language in the script and also teaches the cast. Ironically, the one person who came into the show with some Gaelic-speaking skills, star Caitriona Balfe, doesn’t speak it on the series. Adhamh gave me my own lesson and taught me how to count to 10 and introduce myself!

For the main cast, they lay on the floor of their trailer as the fabric is pleated by hand. "They each have their own individual way of wearing it and if it gets thrown off they don’t like it," Dresbach said.

These weapons from the armory are star Sam Heughan's favorite props. "I love this time period mainly for the horses and the sword-fighting — I'm a bit of a boy about that," he said. "We had a great bootcamp where we learned how to fight and ride."

Star Caitriona Balfe told us her favorite place to film was Loch Rannoch with the circle of standing stones. "It's just magical up there, it's one of the most beautiful places and it has some energy about it," she said. "The actual hill is a sacred place ... and has a magical quality about it and it's in the shadows of a beautiful mountain." As for her favorite costume she revealed, "[It's] my 1940s nightgown. I just want that."

How is Heughan like his character Jamie? "For me … Jamie's return home to Scotland is similar to my case," he said. "I've finally come back where I was born and brought up. There are a lot of ghosts here for me and memories to revisit and likewise for Jamie. But he's a redhead and I’m not, I'm blonde."

On the Set Video: Outlander Stars Think Jamie and Claire Are TV's Greatest Love Story

Outlander may often be characterized as an epic adventure series spanning centuries, but at the heart of the narrative is something quite simple: the love story of two people thrown together in an effort to survive.

"Here's this couple that does fall in love through a set of circumstances, but they remain devoted to one another," executive producer Ronald D. Moore tells TVGuide.com. "It becomes a story of a one-on-one relationship that lasts a very long time, which is unusual and interesting to play in a television series where it's usually about who's sleeping with who and will they or wont they. This is just about these two people who have this fundamental commitment to each other."

On the Starz series, based on the prolific book series of the same name, our heroine Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) has magically fallen into the past from 1945 to 1743. With her husband Frank (Tobias Menzies) left behind in the 20th century, Claire is then startled to see someone who looks like Frank who turns out to be one his evil ancestor and Red Coat officer Black Jack Randall (also played by Menzies). She falls in with a band of Scotsmen belonging to the MacKenzie clan, which is when Claire meets the virginal Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) who — a few episodes later — she must marry in order to be kept safe from the English who have ordered her return. While Claire still hopes to reverse the magic that transported her through time so she can reunite with Frank, she can't help but be drawn to Jamie. And, as viewers watched, what began as intriguing, albeit platonic, connection to each other quickly morphed on their wedding night into a relationship that transcended their physical attraction to one another.

For Balfe, the fact that Jamie and Claire challenge each other — uncommon for a time when women weren't so apt to stand up to men — is what makes their relationship so strong."For his time he's quite an evolved person, but he still is in the mindset of an 18th-century man," Balfe says. "She doesn't allow him to live under those ideas just because. She challenges him to think for himself and find his own morality and system of beliefs. That's what makes it such a great love story — they don't let each other rest on their laurels."

Heughan agrees. "When [Jamie] meets Claire she's this creature from another time, almost alien-like, and she has these ideals and this way of seeing things," he says. "She teaches him about ... how people should be treated and he teaches her as well. They're both very adaptable, versatile people and work well together as a team."

On Saturday's midseason finale, Claire begins to adapt to her new marriage, unaware that in the future, Frank has begun a desperate search for his missing wife, complicated by the fact that he's shown a missing sign with both Jamie's and Claire's pictures. And when Claire is presented with a fate-changing opportunity, she must reconcile that while she's now both Claire Randall and Claire Fraser, she must only choose one destiny.

However Claire and Jamie's love story ends — the show is picked up through Season 2, but there are currently eight books in the series — Moore says one thing is clear about their beginning: "Fans of the book will tell you Jamie fell in love with Claire the moment he met her."

The Outlander midseason finale airs on Saturday at 9/8c on Starz and will return for the second half of the season on April 4.

Avengers 3 Might Be Split Into Two Films

0
0

What's good enough for Harry Potter, The Hobbit, Twilight and The Hunger Games (among others) is apparently good enough for Marvel Studios, as a rumor coming out of a fan news page called the Daily Marvelite claims that the third Avengers film will an epic story split across two movies.

They admitted that all their source has told them is that the battle with Thanos will play out over two films; it could simply be that Avengers 4 will be needed to win the day, or that the third film will be subdivided.

The latter seems more likely if, as the report claims, the May 2018 and May 2019 "untitled" Marvel movies turn out to be Avengers 3 and 4.

How that would work, in terms of contracts, isn't clear; at least Robert Downey, Jr. and Chris Evans' deals will expire after one of those two films, and neither have expressed an interest in renewing their deal. That said, perhaps they'll shoot the movie all in one go and then split it into two films in post-production? Either way, it seems like they'd have to kick a little extra cash the actors' way, since knowing this far in advance that they were going to split it would seem like acting in bad faith otherwise.

The assumption on the part of most fans is that the film will be an adaptation of the Jim Starlin graphic novel The Infinity Gauntlet, which spawned a number of sequels in the Marvel Comics Universe that could serve as a thematic "second half" to the film without actually being Infinity Gauntlet, Part 2.

SOURCE
Do you think Avengers 3 should be split into two movies? personally it is totally unecessary but I can see Marvel doing it just to stretch out their thinning actor contracts.

Michelle Williams Lists Brooklyn Home She Shared With Heath Ledger For $7.5 Million

She's done with the East coast!

Michelle Williams just listed the Brooklyn home she shared with Heather Ledger for $7.5 million, the New York Post reports. The actress and the late actor purchased the town home in 2005 for $3.6 million, so she stands to make a pretty hefty profit off the sale!

The estate boasts 6 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, as well as chef's kitchen, living room, library, roof garden, media room, wine cellar, and 3-car garage.

It is rumored that the My Week with Marilyn star wants to move from New York to Hollywood in hopes of landing better film roles.

We're in love with this place!

Lauren Conrad Shows Off Her Dreamy Beverly Hills Penthouse

lauren-conrad-1000

We don't like to admit it, but we're kinda obsessed with Lauren Conrad's perfectly-filtered Instagram feed -- and after getting a peek at her Beverly Hills home, we're equally enamored with her interior design style!

The former Hills starlet is featured in the new issue of InStyle, and she gives the mag an intimate look at her 3,233-square-foot penthouse, which she purchased in 2012 for $1.3 million. The home has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, and while we're in love with the light and bright kitchen, Conrad says the bathroom is her favorite spot. "It's very peaceful in there," she says. "I’m a big fan of a claw-foot tub for that day when you want to come home and take a bath.”

"My style as far as decor is pretty similar to my style when I’m dressing myself," she continues. "I definitely like neutrals, I like investment pieces." But unlike her wardrobe, she really knows how to spice things up with her furniture! From the bright yellow L-shaped couch in the breakfast nook to the orange sofa in the living room, LC gets the importance of color.

But how much time does she really spend in this pad? After all, back in February she bought an $8.5 million home in Laguna Beach, and the year before that she bought a $3.6 million home in Brentwood. Conrad married longtime love William Tell earlier this month, so we'd imagine the two will be settling in to one of the larger estates at some point in the near future...

'Don't boo us!' Kimye receive high-fashion heckles after turning up late to Lanvin PFW front row

Paris Fashion Week has been rather eventful for Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.

First Kim nearly takes a tumble after an enthusiastic prankster tried to hug her, and next the couple are booed by high-fashion hecklers for turning up late to the show.
However, Kanye wasn't going to sit there and be jeered and dropped the name of Lanvin's creative director to excuse their tardiness.

'Alber [Elbaz] asked to see us we're not late, don't boo us,' he said in a video obtained by TMZ.
Once seated, it looked like Kim wasn't the only one keen to flash her cleavage on Thursday night.

Because Kanye mirrored his high profile wife on the front row by unbuttoned his sleeveless shirt to his navel.

Kanye's well-defined pectorals were a sight to rival Kim and her famous assets as they sat front and centre for the catwalk show.

Kim was flaunting her famous curves in an eye-popping open dress, not expecting to be upstaged by her beau at Paris Fashion Week.
As the pair exited their hotel, she used just an oversized jacket to hide her modesty.

He, meanwhile, sported a shirt with cut off sleeves, which was buttoned down to his middle by the time the pair reached the designer preview.

Now familiar with the front row, the fashion mogul - who owns his own fashion line APC Kanye - loosened up a few of his buttons as he slouched beside his stunning counterpart.

He took a tip from Kim's repertoire by wearing a gold chain that highlighted his ample chest.
Kanye recently slimmed down for his wedding to the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star and was proud to boast quite the gym-honed front while perching at the evening show.

Environmental Bae Strikes Again: Leonardo DiCaprio Tackling Wild Animal Tale 'American Wolf'

20131018dicaprio_1427web_h

Leonardo DiCaprio and his Appian Way production banner are partnering with Kevin McCormick's Langley Park to pick up the movie rights to the book proposal by Nate Blakeslee.

The book generated plenty of interest on both the publishing side and the movie side, with New Regency and Robert Zemeckis' ImageMovers also in on the bidding.

McCormick, who spearheaded the hunt for the rights, is the Warners-based producer of Gangster Squad who recently wrapped the independent Mickey Rourke-Nat Wolff coming-of-age movie Ashby. He will produce with DiCaprio and Appian's Jennifer Killoran.

Wolf tells the story of O-Six, who in some circles was the world's most famous wild animal. The female alpha wolf was collared and tracked by researchers at Yellowstone National Park, gaining a huge following from not only scientists but the public as well. She was shot by a hunter in 2012 just outside the park's boundaries, an act that caused howls around the country (she even got an obituary in The New York Times) despite it being legal — wolves were scaled back from endangered species' lists, so there were new population control measures in place.

Blakeslee, a senior editor at Texas Monthly, focused on O-Six (named after the year she was born) and the impact she had on the humans around her, as well as the wolf watchers and nature aficionado who symbolized the conservation movement's success, and the hunter, a vilified man who remains unnamed to this day.

Blakeslee already has made some Hollywood in-roads. He wrote Tulia: Race, Cocaine, and Corruption in a Small Texas Town, a book that was set at Lionsgate with Halle Berry attached to star.

The U.S. book rights were nabbed preemtively by Crown as well as by Knopf Canada. Blessing picked up the German rights.

Justin Manask at Office for Literary Adaptation struck the movie deal on behalf of David Patterson at Foundry.

Two new 'American Horror Story: Freak Show' Teasers

In 'Parts Unknown,' Anthony Bourdain is not a man on a mission

0
0

Anthony Bourdain's television travelogue "Parts Unknown" goes to Iran to discover how people live behind the geopolitical smoke screen and to small-town Massachusetts to chronicle the heroin scourge.

But even if the fourth season of his Emmy Award-winning CNN show fosters cultural diplomacy or raises drug awareness, this outspoken New York chef insists he is on no kind of socially minded mission. And he's not an advocate, activist, journalist or expert on anything.

"There have been times I have had an agenda or developed an agenda or came back feeling very strongly about something, but I am not out to make the world a better place or inspire people to do one thing or the other," Bourdain told Reuters ahead of the Season 4 premiere on Sunday.

If, however, more Americans got passports and traveled the world and walked in other people's shoes by seeing his show, he would feel good about that.

"But I am not so pompous as to think that is any kind of a mission of mine," he said. "I am a lucky son of a bitch who gets to travel around the world and talk about it."

How to Get Away With Murder Series Premiere Attracts 14 Million Viewers

0
0

New girl crush alert! ABC's "TGIT" (Thank God It's Thursday) swept the small screen on Sept. 25, with the help of Shonda Rhimes' new executive-produced series, How to Get Away With Murder.

According to preliminary ratings from Nielsen, the pilot of Murder, starring Oscar nominee Viola Davis, opened with 14 million viewers at its 10 p.m. ET slot. To give perspective, Scandal's season four premiere, which aired one hour earlier, drew in an audience of 11.9 million -- its biggest ever.

ABC marked an overall win after Rhimes' triple-header of Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, and Murder gave the network its highest-rated Thursday evening in five years.

The shocking legal thriller, created by Peter Nowalk, tells the story of criminal law professor Annalise Keating (Davis) who teaches at Middleton University -- a school loosely based off of the University of Pennsylvania. The series' pilot opens up with four of Keating's students, Wes, Laurel, Connor, and Michaela, arguing in the woods about how to dispose of a body. With their promising legal futures on the line, they flip a coin to decide the fate of the body. The scene then flashes to three months prior when the students arrive on campus for their first day of Keating's class.

"I don’t know what terrible things you've done in your life up to this point, but clearly your karma’s out of balance to get assigned my class," Davis' fierce character tells her students. "I'm Professor Annalise Keating and this is Criminal Law 100, or as I prefer to call it: How to Get Away with Murder."

The premiere also featured multiple racy sex scenes (and an extramarital one at that!) between Professor Keating and a hot detective. Another unexpected scene shows Keating's student Connor using his sexual prowess in a bar to bed a tech man -- and uncover a key component to a case.

At the 2014 Television Critics Associations in July, Davis discussed her new character and what compelled her to say yes to the TV drama. "I dove at [this role]. I love the fact that she's messy and mysterious," Davis, 49, told Us Weekly. "She's not necessarily nurturing and 'Come sit on my lap so I can talk to you, baby.'"

Added the star, "She's a woman. She's sexual. She's vulnerable. I wanted a character that took me out of my comfort zone."

According to Nielsen, if ratings hold,How to Get Away With Murder may become the most-watched TV show on prime-time television, possibly even knocking down CBS' coveted top-performing Thursday Night Football.
